Yeah he is pretty similar to Ansem the Wise, he wanted to help humanity, (not including the insanity) and he relates to Eggman like Ansem to Xehanort, similarly at least

and both wanted revenge for their betryals
Ansem minipulated Roxas as Gerald did to Shadow
