Has anyone heard the comment made by Juan Pablo Galavis from "The Bachelor?" Over the past weekend he's made a hurtful comment towards people who are gay, and being gay myself, I'm quite offended. Have you heard of The Bachelor? Galavis is seen on the show with 20 different woman who's either trying to date him or dating him, what ever it is! Anyway he was asked about a gay version and he said that he couldn't see that happening for The Bachelor. He continued by saying he respects gay people, but believes that by the way we were raised, children shouldn't be exposed to that. He left off by saying that gay people are "more pervert in a sense." ABC commented ""Juan Pablo's comments were careless, thoughtless and insensitive, and in no way reflect the views of the network, the show's producers or studio." He's received a lot of negativity for his comment and also apologized, but the damage was already done. If he doesn't want a gay version of The Bachelor, I don't care! But to say that gay people are more pervert is beyond disgusting. It's attaching a stereotype that isn't true. So what he's doing on the show is a good example for kids? I don't think so...
Ugh. You know, that comment applies to him, too, so he also insulted himself. In any case, though, regarding the actual comment, I completely disagree with it. However, I think I know why comments like that come to light. Males, in general, regardless of sexuality, are viewed more as always being sexually active, if you want to put that way. It's made into a bigger deal, of course, when it's gay males.
Wow. He clearly has no real respect for gay people if that's the kinda **** he's coming out with. It's your typical uninformed, airheaded "socialite" celebrity response. I remember it was reported Paris Hilton said something similar to this. She was like, "Gay guys are the horniest people in the world. They're disgusting. Dude, most of them probably have AIDS... I would be so scared if I were a gay guy. You'll like, die of AIDS." I don't get why people like that play the kiddy card, like those who believe that if you're attracted to men, you're automatically a pedo- because clearly no one of any other sexual orientation can be a pedophile, right? Also it should be kids' parents duty to not 'expose' them to that type of show regardless of the gender involved, not the network. Jeez. Try and let it just go over your head. There'll always be ignorant folks like that.
His "kids shouldn' t be exposed to that" ticked me way more than the pervert stuff. I wouldn' t beat him over it too much though : it' s real TV, the bachelor at that, the guy was picked precisely for his single digit IQ.
The network apologized, he apologized, and that's that. He's not going to change his opinion, flawed beyond belief though it is. The longer you'll beat him up over it, the more you'll end up looking like the bad guy.
