It's a hardcore nostalgia seller. Personally, I would love a remake, but the current projects take precedence. And the "10x longer" is just an estimation they're making because this is something that is brought to them every single day. But I'm not saying it wouldn't take about 5 or so years. They could save time by using the original scripting. They would just need casting for it, most of which has been taken care of through the spin offs.

No FF games should be re-made, but if one is, it should be FFIV

FFIV has already been remade hasn't it? On the the DS? Anyway FFV and FFVI should be remade.

My mistake. When I said scripting, I was referring to the dialogue, not the actual scripting of movements and such.

Yes, that is possible that will happen if a remake is made. There are a lot of dialogues that play a big role in the game, and since the remake is targeting on nostalgia, that would also be a plus for their purpose.

    Fix'd that for you.

While I would really like a remake of the original, I would prefer it if they finish current projects first and then sell nostalgia bombs later.

Maybe for a hypothetical Japanese version. The English translation, while greatly improved from the SNES days, is pretty bad.

Still, a Final Fantasy VII remake for the PS3 would be a giant waste of resources. If they're going to remake it, put it on the PSP, which is far cheaper to develop for than the PS3.

I downloaded FFVII from PSN on my PSP, I have the original game disc, I have Crisis Core, every single spinoff they've made, and Advent Children. Believe me when I say, I love the series, but I would love to see a remake of the original. They've remade FFI, FFII, FFIII, FFIV, FFV, and FFVI. I think they should remake FFVII. I hate to say this, but as much as I respect the old timey graphics, and I do not complain about them, but I would really like to see them revamped. It would be a little easier to see what's going on in the game for one, and for another, it would just be super cool, and I think soooo many people would buy it.

The game could get Square Enix ALOT of money. Money from the old gen. gamers, and from people who have never played the game before and just like RPG's that want to try it. People hear a game is awesome, people buy the awesome game, SE will be straight up banking.

Remaking IX would be pretty awesome though.

With the new PSP's and having to download the games, not many people are buying a PSP anymore. PS3 is getting much more popular now than when it was first released. If they made it, I think it would be a better idea to put it on the PS3.

They didn't really remake FFI, FFII, FFV, and FFVI. They just ported them to different consoles. I don't know if most people would consider that a remake.

Actually, they haven't remade FFV and FFVI. And no, the GBA ports don't count, because that hardly added anything to those two games.
A remake by definition would be a re-release with improved graphics and updated gameplay.
So by your logic they would have to finish FFV and FFVI first. >_>

But hey, what I think SE should do is stop with the remake bullshit and just either start actually focusing on main titles of the series or start making original games, for a change.

Ah, I see. That's actually a pretty good point. They can just use all the old scripts (but translate it better for English speaking countries this time >>).

True, but I was more meaning along the lines of... re-releasing for present gen. gamers. Remake was a poor choice of word on my part.

i hope it does happen though. i am a huge fun of FF7. i hope they do this instead of making another spin-off game (the spin-off games aren't bad but still). it would be nice to have the game voice acted and everything. i think it would be profitable for SE because it would appear as if FF7 is the most popular FF game.

Why are they even talking about making another Final Fantasy when they still need to finish Versus XIII? If it's so interesting and will take a long while to make, then hurry up with Versus XIII and do whatever afterward.
Sorry if this sounds angry to anybody.
