So I was wondering, so far we've had a game all of the games have text boxes in a scene one way or another with the kingdom hearts games except for Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance and Birth By Sleep. And I was thinking about whether or not it was nice having that or not.

At one point, it seemed nice that you didn't have to just read texts and you could hear the emotion to everything, but at another point, you'd have to have either a scene long enough that it doesn't seem useless, or some other 3rd option that's in my head and I can't type it down. XD

With Re:Chain of Memories it seemed kind of nice, having the cutscenes before and after the floors, and text boxes in the rooms, and with 3D it was nice because it would have seemed somewhat strange. I don't know why, but I can't imagine it with any text boxes full of dialogue.

I want to know what you guys think. Do you think KHIII should have text boxes, or do it like KH3D and BBS? I'm sure they'll have the boxes, but I want to know how you guys would think if they did or didn't.

I think it should. I prefer the voices, of course, but the absence of the text boxes is somewhat disappointing. They make the voiced scenes feel more important and more awesome. It's easier to appreciate something when it's not always given to you.

texboxes are a product of the budget. I feel like Square Enix knows they'd get a lot of flack for not having a fully voiced game on a next gen console, so they'll probably just avoid it, which is a shame

Why the fuck don't we just put KHIII on a PS2 and call it a day then?

Yeah, since its next gen, I don't expect text boxes. Which is a good thing.

Also woah, can we swear now? you guys have no idea how hard it is for me to form a sentence without swearing at least once.

    ^This.Right.Here.

As for the subject at hand, I'm pretty sure there won't be any text boxes. I am fine with this for the most part.

I personally think we should stick with the text box but do it in a wayy different manner. How about instead when engaged in a conversation, add an animated version of the characters in the dialogue on the left and right side? Kinda like how square did it in CoM. Would be nice.

She bolded the u in fuck. It breaks up the word which tricks the system into thinking it's not a swear. That being said, only in the Spam Zone please.

As for the text boxes, I don't think we need them. Maybe just for talking to townsfolk and whatnot, but KH hasn't really had a plethora of townsfolk to begin with. DDD didn't even have one that I can remember (except for the Moogles). Also, maybe for unimportant dialogue, although if it's unimportant enough to not get a voice, it's probably not important enough to get into the game.

I also prefer voices, but if they do use texts it would be good if they make some standards like you said, in Re:Chain at the levels that are "fake worlds" we got fake "dialogs", and not like 358/2 that have no standards at all some were text some were videos..
It could be "only at shops", or talking to NPC for second time (that is not related to the story) , like "Doing some stuff, you don't have heartless to stop?".. It could be voices, but wouldn't be bad if it were text only.

I don't think you guys understand, having text means that we get to have MORE. Voice acting isn't a limit of the console, it's a budget limit. By keeping text based scenes, we can have MORE cutscenes

Yeah, but is that a good thing? Having more cutscenes means having more unnecessary cutscenes. Bulking up play time by inserting useless dialogue doesn't make a good game. Also, Kingdom Hearts is a very successful series. It has seven original games, three remakes and a massive fanbase. I don't think they'll have any budgetary problems for KH3.

It's not a budget problem, it just means thatyou can squeeze a bit more out of the game. Whetherthe scene is unnecessary or not comes down the the writers.
But i theory, it could give the Disney worlds some much needed depth, AND give us a bunch of optional scenes
