Didn't find a thread for this, probs blind but seriously this is exciting. For those of you who have played the Project DIVA games on the PSP (via import from Japan unfortunately T_T ), you'll be glad to hear that they are bringing this babe Westward sometime in August for PS3 and PSN (NA and EU). There's already a demo version on the NA PSN, not sure about EU.
i never actually expected hatsune miku to be popular enough in the west to warrant any sort of localization of her anything at all. that said, i think miku music is terrible, but i played the demo on the PS3 (from Japan) and it's actually one of the most fun rhythm games I've played in a while. It's interesting visually, especially with how the cues are placed on the screen. I'd be more interested to have that gameplay with some other music or whatever, but whatever. i will be watching this closely to see how this game does on the market. should be interesting to see if this is more than just a niche game.
I really am excited to see a version of Project Diva localized (even though it's the sixth entry, but better late than never). Rhythm games are one of my absolute favorite genres, and I do enjoy VOCALOID music. I hope it sells well enough to allow for more western releases in the future, and I cannot wait until August. For now, I will just remain addicted to the Demo -- which is only 437 MB, and includes multiple VOCALOIDS (Kaito, Luka, Miku, Rin and Len at least), alternate outfits for Rin, Miku and Luka, and three songs (World's End Dance Hall, Weekender Girl, and Tengaku) on Easy and Normal difficulties.
My friend showed my a couple of songs from this. Now I don't have to worry about getting the japan import version, I can just wait for the psn release.
I actually got to try playing Project Diva F a while ago. A friend of mine bought a region-free Japanese version for PS3 at an anime convention a while ago, and she let me play it for a bit. Meiko's voice sounded different- and far from a good kind of different at that. More high-pitched. I didn't care for it. And then there's the Nyan Cat song. I'm still in disbelief that it was actually there.
Just figured I'd bump this thread since the game is now out in both NA and EU. I'm working on getting the Platinum trophy for this bad boy (currently at 58%) and while some of the trophy requirements are pretty mundane, the game has a lot of replay value imo, what with challenges to test yourself on songs and edit mode where you can make your own levels and share them online. Overall, this has to be one of the best rhythm games I've ever encountered, and I do hope that they continue to release Project Diva games worldwide.
