    i have to admit that i am/was obsessed with stereotypes cos i used to be really average and, well, boring and i really wanted to 'belong' (lol i wanted a label). so i chose a stereotype and modelled myself and now (some i think) people call me emo. before i had the stereotype of being a swot (ie someone who does really well in school and does extra work etc) which im trying to get rid of cos i hate being called a swot. the problem is that people use stereotypes and generalisations because it makes their lives easier. if they looked at everyone/thing seperately nothing anyone said would make sense so in a way stereotypes are good sometimes. (i really dont know where im going with this:D ).

    Honestly, I think the world HAS become obsessed, but only because the world's too stupid to know what's the real deal and what's not. My god, people have been asking me for months if my friend smokes pot, just because she said she did (but was being obviously sarcastic). Holy crap, can people not tell the difference between reality and sarcasm?

    Stereotypes have always been around, and we've all ALWAYS been obsessed with them, amirite?

    Mostly, we use them because it's funny, fun to make fun of people with, or to insult people with. Sadly we hardly ever take in to account the other peoples take on the dialog we produce.

    it's nothing personal, that's the entire point of stereotypes, just ignore them.

    I hate them too. Unfortunatly its part of being a human. Even the most unbiased people categorize, and that is called a sterotype. Its in our nature, so its inevitable ;___;
