YOOOOO THIS IS GONNA BE ONE OF THE BEST THINGS EVER BECAUSE WE GET TO MEET NEWT SCAMANDER AND WE GET TO SEE THE WIZARDING WORLD OUTSIDE OF BRITAIN AND DURING THE ROARING TWENTIES AND AAAAAHHHHH I AM SO PUMPED
I really like Harry Potter, I really, really do. I was also excited for the announcement of the spin-off when it was announced way back when, mostly because I want to see how Rowling fairs as a script writer (yes, it's very different from prose writing). But why does everything have to be a god damn trilogy? Is this the only shit that Hollywood greenlights anymore? Is this movie being funded by fucking Summit?!
Ancient news is ancient. http://kh-vids.net/threads/fantasti...-find-them-harry-potter-universe-film.141802/
I was glad to see that it was being made. Saddened me to see that it'd be a trilogy, but after the LotR/Hobbit's trilogy success, they feel the need to milk the franchise for all its fans are willing to pour in...
Not to mention a lot of this is extentions. The last Harry Potter novel I can understand being split into two because it had a lot of information. Breaking Dawn was a crap load of padding, both the book and the final movies. While I really liked the Catching Fire movie, I have a bad feeling about the Mockingjay movies because the novel is 80-90% filler (in fact, I think Catching Fire and Mockingjay could've all been one book). And don't even get me started on The Hobbit movies (greedy bastards...) I think the one thing this trilogy is going to have for it is that it doesn't have direct source material. Yes, it's based in a fictional world, but it doesn't have its own book series (yet). That leaves a lot of room for exploration, and hopefully, it'll take advantage of it. I have faith as Rowling as a storyteller, but I don't have faith in studios wanting to cash in on a franchise.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a textbook in the HP-verse written by Newt Scamander. The movie trilogy's protagonist is going to be Newt Scamander, so I think it's safe to presume that the trilogy will be mostly about fantastic beasts and where to find them.
Does the series not have enough money? Ugh, Harry Potter has had enough films, we don't need anymore for about ten years. Well this or regular crap teen films aka Twilight, Divergent, (maybe) Hunger Games (first film was ok-ish, not seen second).

You're thinking of David Tennant, who played Barty Crouch Jr. in Goblet of Fire. c: I think that besides him, John Hurt (Ollivander) was the only other actor in HP who also played the Doctor.
I was disappointed when I got here and saw that the joke had not been made. Anyway, I know too little on the premise to know if a trilogy makes sense. Though Rowling seems like less the type to try and just cash in (but everyone enjoys money, and it isn't her decision alone either). If this does end up as books in the end we will hit a point of confusion though. Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them is already out, but it is the actual textbook. This sounds more like going into how Newt found out what he knows to make the book.
