NO FLAME WARS/INSULTS, PLZ! Thanks~ I just want to hear your opinions. Which is better? Which one has the better online/multiplayer/single player campaign/story, etc.? Pros and cons? While debates are alowed, no "ZOMG cod S so mch btr thN fkng halo, so fuk u u pce of sht"
Halo. It's more interesting, and the gameplay is much deeper. Even though I enjoy Black Ops and World at War, military shooters are growing stale for me. I had a blast with Call of Duty 1 and Call of Duty 2, but overall, I had much more fun with the Halo series.
Well, Halo has something no one else does and it is uniqueness with a multiplayer fps. Also the story is very good and well thought out. Call of Duty I have never gotten really interested in. The only aspect about those games that actually I do like and enjoy are the nazi zombie gamemodes and such. Those are all out fun but I do not enjoy fire fight on Halo which can basically be seen as the same thing. I am weird like that.
For COD, I only played Modern Warfare 2, and I never played a Halo game. So I can't really give you an honest answer on which is better.
Halo, easily. While I'll commend the early Call of Duty games (up to Modern Warfare 1, really) for great realistic and intense situations and the such, Halo has such an awesome story with how Spartans are trained from childhood (kidnapped from their families) to become cybernetically-enhanced super soldiers to counter the Covenant armies who want to destroy all of the life in the universe to kill off the Flood. Halo 1 had amazing atmosphere, and all the games have really great soundtracks (especially Halo 2).
I don't really like the type of gaming Halo gives me, although most disagree, i don't really find it fun, exciting yes, but not fun. Most people say you need to play one of the good ones, and i did as far as my knowledge goes, because it was Halo 3 Now, when i see Call of Duty, that is a game i enjoy, even though lots of people hate it, i still very much enjoy, just the feeling, of making a little brat online get angry, and rage out feels me with joy <3 I also loved the Story that was in Black ops, and 4 A.K.A Modern warfare 1.
I've been a fan of CoD since I first got CoD WaW years ago (It's still my favorite). The series unfortunately is just a money milker now, a new game every year in the same month. I give Treyarch credit for actually trying new things with the series, while Infinity Ward just recently spit out a clone of it's previous game. I'll probably ask for Blops2 for Christmas just because I'm not really in a rush to buy it and my live ran out a few days ago. I've only played a bit of Halo 3 and Reach at my cousin's house, but I really don't care for it. I know CoD isn't exactly realistic, but Halo is just a bit out there for me. So I'd rather play CoD if I had to choose, but I haven't played either in months now.
Personally Halo. I've had more fun with the sci fi weapon gameplay mechanics, as well as the modes and vehicles. Halo offers you a robust amount of different online modes, as well as custom maps, forge mode to create your own. COD too readily makes matches unbalanced with only the pro and dedicated players ever properly winning rounds. At least that was my experience with it. And this coming for someone who became slightly obsessed with playing MW2. I only ever started to win matches by pure luck of the bullets hitting them and not me, and less on my loadouts and which guns I picked. I've always had trouble as well with the Zombie missions, which seem to rely too much on a team of friends communicating online and unfavourable to people who just drop into a game with any randoms. I will say though I enjoyed the horde mode in MW3, that was the best mode of the game to me, it was you relying on your skill and ability to manage weapons and ammo.
HALO all the way! To many serious people playing CoD and hearing anything about making my head want to expload. I hear about CoD ALL THE TIME! Its like dubstep screaming in your ear. Not try to offend anybody liking COD or Dubstep.
If you're looking for story definitely Halo. I just spent like the last two days playing not only the game but looking at all the related media as well on Halo Waypoint and that new live-action web series they brought out (all free and without extra cost btw). The universe is just huge and you get a sense that things are bigger than just Master Chief and Cortana (though in Halo 4 that is a major plot point). As for the gameplay, it actually is a bit more similar to COD now with the loadouts, ranking up for new weapons and abilities, and ordinance drops though I'd say it's more like Uncharted 3 since overall the guns are pretty balanced and more about what flavor of shooting you like. Though I like the maps on Halo a lot more, since they're unique than the warzones you find in COD. But overall it still has the same Halo feel. Not to say that I hate COD, it's just that I don't want to like it because I always end up losing interest a few months later. With MW3 and Black Ops, I just played it for 3 months each and forgot all about it. Also it kinda turns me off when I go into a game and I die for like 5 minutes straight because a bunch of planes are overhead bombing the whole map. The campaigns are cinematic, but I don't really care as much for the story as I do for Halo. But I have to admit I'm biased. I vowed never to look at a COD game again, and I haven't been so I don't really know what Black Ops 2 is offering this year. I know they're doing something extra with the Zombies mode, that it's set a bit in the future, and the campaign is supposed to have multiple paths or something but that's about it.
I'll have to say that they both have their good aspects. The realism in CoD (not completely real of course), and the amazing fantasy of Halo. Both have great multiplayer platforms too. Although i've been a sony guy since I was a little kid and got my first ps1, I enjoyed playing Halo on the 360. When it comes down to it, it's all about what kind of genre you like. Obviously both are 1st person shooters, but it's about whether you like a game that has more realistic features of war, or a game that's way out there. In my opinion they are both great games ^_^
The Halo franchise by far in my opinion. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was sooo epic but pretty much after that activision started just killing this series. i mean a release by the same franchise every year just doesnt impress me at all and it makes me feel like i just waste my money buying one game when another is releasing just the next year. halo at least releases every three years and you can tell every release is unique and different.
I would have to say Halo. I have watched the CoD series being played. I did enjoy it admittedly, even more than Halo for a while even. But then I actually played Halo and realized what it was fully like. The story is fantastic, the characters are riveting and the gameplay is pretty good. I know it's not as "innovative" as people like Halo 2 to say, but I think honestly Halo 2 did more than dual-wielding, it brought a fantastic story to a FPS, it probably has been done in the past, but for me, Halo 2 was the first FPS to actually get me fully interested in the storyline and the story behind an FPS, about the Spartan's and their training. And I still love Halo because of it.
O man you are ASKING for a flame war :P Never owning an Xbox, I never knew the whole enjoyment of playing Halo except at my friend's house which was still fun, but I grew up with CoD starting with CoD: FH and eventually building up until I kinda stopped after BO. In the end, I think CoD is my choice.
