.hack G.U Vol 2: REMINISCE

Anyone else here play the newest .hack title yet? It's awesome from the start, I've been playing all day today and didnt even notice how much time went bye, just because it had me so engrossed in the story. Haseo gets his scythe form back in this one, and its totally sweet! lol. If you played any of the previous 5 games (.hack INFECTION, MUTATION, OUTBREAK, QUARANTINE, G.U.: REBIRTH) I really suggest getting this one, its easily the best of all, its leaving alot to live up to with GU vol 3: REDEMPTION.

All G.U. titles have been already released in Japan, although judging by that 3rd title, perhaps the NA titles are somewhat different? (Third title was released in JP back in January as "Aruku Youna Hayasa de".)

But I've been meaning to decide whether or not I should try for this series. Thanks, Arc, maybe I will. XD

The JP titles were:

Vol 1: 再誕 Saitan
Vol 2: v\君想フ声 Kimi Omou Koe (A voice that Reminds Me of You)
Vol 3: 歩くような速さで Aruku you na Hayasa de(At a Walking Pace)

whereas in NA they are:
Vol 1: Rebirth
Vol 2: Reminisce
Vol 3: Redemption

Also, a small summary for those that didnt get the 'End of the World' Disc with their Vol. 1 (was included only with the collector's edition):

R.A. Plan

As revealed in End of the World, the "Restore Aura" Plan was the strategy the programmer Jyotaro Amagi devised to restore Aura through reconstructing Morganna under the control of CC Corporation. Through Project G.U., the remnants of the 8 Phases data (also known as the "elements of Morganna") were recovered and incorporated into special characters known as Epitaph-PCs, which were based on Sora's condition during the events in .hack//Zero. Jyotaro speculated that each phase required a certain type of person in order to use it effectively, in the way Sora had been attached to Skeith, so these PCs were then to be used by scouted candidates with Amagi's R.A. Program. The first choice as a candidate was Sora himself, but he wasn't playing the game anymore at the time.

With candidates located, and the Epitaph-PCs prepared, Jyotaro began the test, but something went horribly wrong. Most of The World's data was lost instantly, and all 7 Epitaph-PC players fell into comas. Amagi, who was using a "Dummy Program" to replace Tarvos (which had been stolen by Jun Bansyoya), fell into a state of delirium and set fire to the CC Corp Japan Building. Afterwards the Epitaph-PCs escaped onto The World, where they waited for the right person to "connect" to.

The Terror of Death

The story follows Haseo, at first depicted as a PKK (Player Killer Killer) known as the "Terror of Death", a former member of the disbanded Twilight Brigade guild.

He is seen seeking out a PK (Player Killer) known as Tri-Edge, whose victims supposedly are unable to return to The World after he PKs them. Haseo's friend, Shino, was attacked six months prior to the events of the game by Tri-Edge, and the player herself, Shino Nanao, was left in a coma.

Haseo encounters Azure Kite (believing him to be Tri-Edge and blaming him for what happened to Shino) but is defeated effortlessly. Azure Kite is shown Data Draining him, reducing his level from 133 to 1 and leaving him without any items, weapons, or member addresses, but instead with a mystery on his hands as to the nature of the Data Drain and why Azure Kite is in possession of such a skill.

Eventually Haseo gains the "Avatar" of Skeith by 'awakening' (what that means is that his avatar found him). Acquiring the ability to call Skeith and wield his abilities, such as Data Drain. With Skeith as his strength, Haseo begins the quest for a way to save Shino.

Oh, yeah, any theories? Anyone at all? Ok, I'll just post one of my own:

I think the Dummy Avatar program is what AIDA comes from. It drove the programer insane and made him set fire to the CC Corp Main Headquarters. AIDA is what made that kid in Online Jack write on the walls the name of the eight phases and jump out the window. The dummy avatar program made the one who used it insane, so does AIDA to whomever it posesses.

 

MY only theories are that the "Tri-Edge" is a sort of wandering A.I after-effect from the fire that destroyed the original "The World" and was meant to wander through the backgrounds of "The World R:2" and eliminate any violent data, in order to prevent another Morganna Incident...but has for some reason, began malfunctioning(maybe infected by AIDA/Morganna) and therefore has began attacking players instead....its probably VERY wrong, but its the only idea I have, seeing as there are

the characters Azure Kite(Tri-Edge), Azure Balmung, and Azure Orca in Vol 2...(and you see Azure Balmung, and Azure Orca destroy an AIDA, but leave Haseo unharmed.

 

Ah, remember the announcement in Rebirth that three security programs were installed into the internet? I count three Azure Knights, could they be....

 

Yes, but they never say that they were currently functioning properly though, and IF Morganna were to make her return, what would she go after appearance wise? The one that was able to drive her back 7 years prior ;) It makes sense in my head at least lol, she cant take up her phases, as they are reborn into the PC's, so she takes on Kite's form using the Wandering A.I program CC Corp originally made to maintain "The World" from the inside

 

The R.A. Plan failed miserably, the phases never untited to recreate Morgonna. Morgonna is dead, deleted. The only reason Azure Kite went after players is because he is an AI and couldn't confirm his target fast enough. Notice the time lag in attacks during the final battle of Rebirth. He only attacks other players when he either defends himself or the player happened to be in front of the real target.

 

Like I said, it was a theory I had lol.

SakuBo COULD be Mistral's kid(s), she never says whether she just had one child or twins to my knowledge at least, and the voice SOUNDS like it would be a 7-8 year old lol

I dont think thats really, Official though, because haseo doesnt know about Morganna or anything(or he's a damn good actor) also, they say that Sora couldnt use the skeith Epitaph PC because his account had been deleted and he quit playing The World...

 

Data Drain makes people lose memory, doesn't it?

 

He also says that its his first time ever logging into "The World" when he gets saved by Ovan though, right? that was well before he got DD'ed...I think its about as likely as the rumor I heard that Ovan was going to turn out to be the original Kite's player or Kazu(BlackRose's brother)

 

Wrong Data Drain moment, the one on Sora in .hack//SIGN by Skeith.

 

Oh...I dont know if it did back then or not...I'll have to go look into that lol
