I like it. At first I didn't, but then I thought "times change man, and when times change, people go freaking crazy". And then I thought "why not give it a chance and see what happens"?

But whatevs. I don't even follow these console things.

it has nothing to do with it being different. the wii ****ing sold millions because it was different. xbox one' has bad, anti-consumer policies. that's why people hate it.

In other words he's saying that most gamers hate changes meaning they want the same crap most of the time.
    Which Is pretty true.

See the problem with the Xbox one is that MS did that change so suddenly. See what they should have done was slowly add these changes as the times goes, as they make consoles so that we could adapt to them.

That's basically the same thing as saying "I don't care if a company ****s me, they're justified in doing it because times change."

Times do change, and it's the peoples responsibility to make sure they don't change for the worse.

I think the Wii is a bad example. Its changes aren't as big as the ones the Xbox One is pulling. Im sure when the Xbox One comes out people will buy it and no one will care anymore. Well, maybe the Sony fanboys. We know how they can be.

But hasn't the times changed a lot already? For the worse? I think people are just overreacting. I don't see a problem with the kincet always being turned on (lol) or the 24 hour internet check. NORRRR the sharing thing and all that buying video games jazz. If we gave it a chance people could've gotten used to it.

because getting used to things is just how it is. just suck up to the changes. dont make a fuss.

that is bullshit. if people didnt make a fuss, nothing would change. and not all change is inherently good.

The video game changes are nothing. Lets not compare robots taking human jobs to a gaming console. If the Xbox One changes and people don't like it, fine, they can just buy a PlayStation Quadriple. Safe and simple. It's a big change that the Xbox One is going for, and as long as there are gaming consoles out there that are sticking to old tradition, then it isn't really all that bad right? As long as there are consoles out there staying with the normal flow, people shouldn't really complain.

Ugh, I was worried this would happen. The 'people just don't like change' spiel >.>
Microsoft outwardly and aggressively ANTAGONIZED their consumers here. There were some fringe benefits, yes, but they didn't really outweigh the downsides. There was no reason why you shouldn't be able to play single player games offline. Hell, internet connections shouldn't be required in this day and age because they're not GOOD in many places yet.
And used games are a major enabler, too. My friend is about to trade in his Xbox for a PS4, thanks to a trade in deal at EB games that makes it financially possible for him.
Used games are the most reliable way to get old or hard to find games.
Making games RELY on your servers is TERRIBLE in the long term
And the Steam argument is bad too. Steam is an app you can get for your computer, the Xbone was a 500 dollar underpowered box with a camera that has patents for spying on you.
Oh, and if you don't buy used games, that's a really self centred reason for not minding them killing used games, since used games would still be a thing, but ONLY at participating retailers, heavily damaging any SMALL gaming businesses.

I'm sorry, this isn't a fear of the future, it's not wanting Microsoft to force their version of it on us. Maybe in the future, a more trustworthy company can try something similar, when more people have a reliable internet, but in the mean time, just plain no.

But Micro$oft will have like, places where you can give away your games or something.

    THIS IS THE FUTUUURREEE MAN.

Honestly, Im sure Microsoft has gone through their ideas and the downsides in what they're doing. GUYS LETS DO ____ AND NOT GO OVER IT YEAH.

If the Xbox One is so bad, just buy a PS4. No need to put so much attention towards another console when there's a better option. No one is pointing a gun to your head and making you buy an Xbox One lol. Though I do know of people who are buying it with their own free will.

    Uh huhh...?
    And?
I'm getting a PS4, it's the cheaper, better option, but that's not what this topic is about, is it?
It's about how the xbox one wasn't REALLY a bad thing, but a forward thinking superdevice! And frankly, I'm the other half of the argument, and you can't just remove that with the excuse "nobody is FORCING you to get it" or something >.>

That last thing I added was just a little extra.

As for the Xbox One's horrifying changes, I don't really care. They only seem bad because of how drastic they are. It's like my friend. Let me use a real life situation. My friend decided to get emo hair. And I freaked out. But you know what? The next day I saw him and said "Hey, he doesn't look half bad." And then he changed his hair to black with green highlights.

Just because something changes doesn't mean it's bad. Especially when it hasn't even come out yet.

Individuals have different standards of time for getting used to changes. Collectively, while Microsoft did have some interesting ideas, they did not sit well with the present state of consumer opinion and the industry itself. Regardless of whether or not one believes the Xbox One policies are a step in the wrong direction or ahead-of-their-time push directly to the future, the ability for change to be successful still factually relies on the conditions of the present.

Though in my honest opinion I am always a tad iffy about overzealous DRM-protective changes. So the Xbox One was a no for myself until they reversed a few things, but even then it is simply a maybe for me due to other factors.

In other words they kinda rushed through and changed everything at once instead of slowly adding them as time goes by
