After the Xehanort saga, there will be the era of Lightning

Not if Luigi has anything to say about that.

And of course there will be at least 5 different versions of Lightning to fight through the next saga.

You'd play it for the plot? Mate, don't disappoint yourself, especially if you're looking to play the third game.

13-2 has the best plot of the three. If you can stand Kingdom Hearts, I'd say it's fairly enjoyable

Nah, i'd recommend a ton of other alright time travel plots. Few of them games, sadly. Still, waiting to see 15 before I care to buy an FF game.

It's not about the fact that there are better alternatives. There's always a bigger fish
It's still a perfectly serviceable plot

First, not purely so? It's more an element, since the story is about time and dimensions, the dimension shifting happens more than the time shifts.
Second, it was not that good of a plot. I tried to like it. Really I tried. But the ending felt like a betrayal.

Time travel is kinda sorta REALLY a huge element in the story

And arguably the worst part in it. Or more, the worst handled part of it.

The music and looks were amazingly great, best parts of the game. God Only Knows was amazingly uplifting, I stayed for the whole song. The music tears I really liked. But I meant in terms of plot it's just not good.

It was basically just trivially handling immense powers.
Booker, the thing we wanted isn't here! What are we gonna do?
Why don't you tear a whole in the fabric of reality and totally mess up both our realties? Maybe what we want is there.
Good idea! *enter death and destruction*

Wow is the music not part of the plot? It's a great subtle, clever and really unique use for the concept.
And... the thing they wanted as a person who turned out to be dead, how exactly do you solve a problem like that WITHOUT immense powers?

I finished XIII around the time it first came out and I thought it was okay

Played some of XIII-2 and didn't really like it, but then again Noel and Serah were the only thing I was truly invested in

and now Lightning Returns....I played the demo and actually enjoyed it.

[Plus I might have seen the ending.....ooops]

It wasn't part of the plot. The narrative is advanced by events, listing to snippets of music doesn't advance the plot. They are used to immerse the player, add to the experience and generally enhance the themes raised in the plot.

Not kill the person? It was an alright excuse to try and open a tear, if still rather uninspiring when you crossed over. But every time after that felt like an immature abuse of simply: What we want isn't here, let's go to another world to find it! This worlds messed up, why did we come here? Let's go to another world, oh no, it's even worse.

I found the Legacy of Kain/Soul Reaver games to have a really good time-travel plot tbh

It's good to know that even though this is a KH forum, nobody has tried to justify KH as a good time travel plot yet
