Fucking. Seriously.

I don't get it. I really don't. How can so much support be going towards a sequel of a jaded Adam Sandler flick over a genuinely awesome concept, that isn't a sequel, prequel, remake, or adaptation, that features giant robots fighting giant monsters? Hell, Despicable Me 2 wining makes sense: it's a kid's movie, so they're getting a much bigger audience. What am I not understanding?

Comedy is a bigger audience than Giant Robot Films, especially since this one doesn't have a familiar household name like transformers.

I've noticed a lot of people seem to like Adam Sandler, but, holy ****, the only roles he can play well are people with mental disabilities, or general morons.

In other news, Kardashians still popular and teenagers still complain about getting the wrong color iPhone for christmas.

Wake me up when "good" and "popular" aren't inversely proportionate.

Glad Grown Ups 2 won. Haven't seen either movie but I have extremely low expectations for Pacific Rim even after everything I've heard about it.

I'm at least glad Pacific Rim didn't get the number one spot.

You might not realize, but Kaiju films have a pretty niche audience. From the trailers, it was a glorified Transformers film (and it sort of was) and people have gotten sick of that. I mean, look at how poor Battleship was received last year. Grown Ups 2 has known names and seems broad.

I'm not going to be upset that Grown Ups 2 did better because I haven't seen it. You probably haven't seen it, so you have absolutely no right to judge if it deserves to be better or not.

Fuck me for getting bothered by something I enjoyed being outsold by the sequel to something I didn't right? I ALREADY KNOW STUPID SHIT CAN BE REALLY POPULAR, BUT I HAD SOME HOPE FOR THIS FILM.

I do have a right. I have plenty of rights, this thread included. I'll concede that I did not, in fact, see the movie, but if the first was anything to go off of, I'm not missing much. I respect you, so please, don't go about using that whole "no right" argument. Just pleasantly say "You'll be surprised by how much better the film is." Then maybe I would/will give it a chance.

Yeah, I guess I sounded more aggressive than what I intended.

What I was trying to say was that it is unfair towards the movie to automatically think it's bad. I mean, early no one had hope for 21Jump Street, as did I, but it became one of the most talked about films of 2012.

I was on your side, but okay. Can we have an internet argument now?

I guess you're right. It's just, with Adam Sandler at least, he's a comedian I used to really enjoy, but every film of his that I've seen lately (Zohan, Bedtime Stories, Chuck & Larry, Grown Ups) have been terrible, in my opinion of course. Maybe I'm the only one who hoped that something original (obviously it was inspired by older things) was outsold by a sequel to a film made by a washed up comedian. I used to adore Adam Sandler, but lately can't stand his movies have been just terrible.

Also, I really do need to see 21 Jump Street still. I hate Channing Tatum, but literally every one of my friends who's seen the movie loved it, and they (mostly) know good movies.

Sorry, I thought you were like, pointing out that me making the thread was pointless :\

Well, it's too late now, we're doing this thing, though, I'm kind of tired, can we skip most of the BS and just go right to the part where I compare you to hitler?

21 Jump Street was a turning point in Charming Potato's career. He was playing a parody of himself, which worked great. After that movie, it seems that he's been doing better. He's become a better actor. Magic Mike, Side Effectx, and even GI Joe two really showed him off one way or another.

Sure, but only if I get to be a giant robot dinosaur Hitler. Nazi Rex if you will.

I only saw G.I. Joe Retaliation of the ones you listed, but he actually is decent. Think he's much better as a non-dramatic actor honestly, but that might just be me, since his attempts at serious drama haven't been too stellar in my opinion.

Side Effects was a rather small role for him, but his part worked (it's actually my favorite movie of the year right now). As for Magic Mike, I will say he did pretty well in that. Be in mind it was directed by Soderbergh (as was Side Effects), and it seems he knows how to direct actors.

Faith in humanity has just drop sharply. And I do mean sharply. Despicable Me 2 I can understand, the first wasn't that bad, but Grown Ups 2? Freaking seriously? Seriously?! Seriously. The first Grown Ups was terrible, why would anyone (other then shallow minded idiots) think the sequel would be any good?

    *sigh*

    ....

I don't even have to explain why I choose that video. Your post justifies it self. Seriously man, at least see the movie first before basically saying Grown Ups Freaking 2 is better..

It's a CGI action-fest that pretends to take itself seriously but does not develop into anything substantial. Oh, and it's not a Godzilla movie. I've got more than enough reason to dislike Pacific Rim.
