Grammar Question

I'm sure some of you know Phantasy Star Portable 2, which contains NPCs and MySynths (basically NPCs as well).

As with any game with NPCs, they say things via chat bubbles (so no voice, just text) when fighting, such as "I need help!" when low on HP, and there's this one NPC, Lou, and when she's attacking, she says, "Begin attack routine."

That's a quite common thing I see (with any word), but shouldn't that be "Beginning attack routine"?

 

Unless she's talking to herself .
