High school is a lot like middle school and college because you get out what you put in.

    Graduating Mid School next year...
But apart from that, I've heard a lot of great things about high school...My dad said those were his best school years as well as Gr. 7 and 8.
    Same with my mom...

Geez, I can't tell if we're trying to congratulate him or scare the **** out of him.

But in all reality, high school is what you make it. You want it to be fun, make it fun. But don't be a wuss when someone gives you crap.

Try out for clubs and sports. There should be somethings that interest you.

    Oh AND TAKE CLASSES SERIOUSLY.
Even if you'll never need to know when to find the square root of an angle in a rhombus to find whatever word your geometry teacher made up. Just because you won't ever sue that again, doesn't mean you'll never use your g.p.a. again.

    But congrats.
(P.S. GET YOUR LICENSE THE MOMENT YOU CAN)

Here, schools are divided into three years.

1-3 are one school (and Kindergarten, but they start a few weeks later)
    5-6 are another
    Junior High is 7-9th
    and high school is 9th-12th.
You have a choice. You can stay in the junior high building for your freshman year and be at the top of the food chain (You go camping, to D.C., you eat first, a bunch of other benefits)
or be at the bottom of the food chain and be nobody at a crowded high school.
(I realized those who went to the high school were the ones who became partiers)

People definitely make high school out to be worse than it actually is. :| As long as you fall in with the right crowd you'll be fine, but it can be a major adjustment from Middle School. They don't coddle you anymore. If you don't pay attention or do your homework, you've basically screwed yourself.

High School was alright. Much better than Middle/"Junior High".

I'm graduating late next week. << I don't see a point in me going to graduation since I'll be at class in college that week. Yay for starting before graduation.

like Misty said ^^ also don't act like a newbie 24/7 juniors, seniors & sophomores don't like it. A lot of them are really laid back cept for the snooty ones but you can ignore them, be yourself and do great! ^^

Hate to say this but most upperclassmen hate freshmen, no matter the school.
I'd suggest not really trying to interact with them until later in the school year, unless they're theater kids. They generally seem to be nicer.

High School is fun, but can also be a pain.

As long as you keep up your grades and find some people to hang out with, you're in the clear.
Also, it's okay to conform a little bit to other people.
I did, but I'm still basically the same xD

But just don't try to change too much.

And be sure to do your homework on time.
    Or it will pile up,
    and beat you down. >>

Everything in this post is true. Especially the part about theater kids. I don't know why but they are nicer than most people.

    We didn't hate freshmen.
We hated people who walked on the wrong side of the hall.

They just happened to be freshmen.
I remember my friend bumping into somebody and cussing them out and called them out "Freshman dumbass" and the girl was just like "I'm a junior and I just moved here!"

Didn't matter. She still acted like a freshman B|

Emphisis on most. I'm probably one of the few upperclassmen who's nice to absolutely everyone. Unless they give me a reason to hate them.
Same reason as when you go a Anime Con.

    ^This.

Up 'till now school has been good for me xD
Except for my last month in 9th grade (it was like hell) >.>
This is my first year in high school ( Could somebody explain me what a freshman is please /N00B)

Here school system works like this:

1-6th grade elementary school equivalent ( It's called Primary school here though .-.)
    7-9th grade JR high
    10-11th Grade High school

I'm currently in 10th grade so that would make me a sophomore correct?
I don't really understand US educational system so please pardon me...

    Freshman are 9th graders
    Sophomores are tenth
    Juniors eleventh
    and Seniors twelth.

It also works for universities (Freshman being the first year, sophomores the second, so on and so forth)

    Oh, I see.

    So I was right...
I'm a sophomore after all xD

    Wait...
    Does this means I can't be a senior, there isn't a 12th grade over here .-.
The last year of high school is 11th grade...
    I don't really get it.

Maybe my country is strange after all .-.

    ...Oh.
They should have 12th grade there...
Unless they cram more stuff into a year. Or they start at a younger age.
More than likely, if your school only goes to 11th, They won't have a sophmore year and you'll be a junior this year and 11th grade will be seniors.

    But Idk.
