Good News: My grades are relatively fine at the moment in school and I don't think I need to worry about anything. No tests are papers few about 2 weeks or so.

Bad News: I'm really starting to get apathetic towards school. I mean, I've never enjoyed school, but this is like "ignore school altogether" apathy.

I really need help with this, because I don't know what to do. I've never enjoyed school, but I've tried to do what I could. I really don't want this to continue because if this keeps up I might end up screwing myself up. Does anyone know what I should do? Because this is a really big problem. I don't want to get another "C" in a class, and I really don't want to end up completely missing homework. I've already missed a little for Chemistry, and that's bad enough.

I have this sort of problem too. I just sometimes think I can afford to miss first lesson, then before you know it I've spent the whole day at home just messing around on the internet! I think you just have to be stern with yourself, like 'If I do a good hours work now I can reward myself later' See if you can stick to doing it for a day, then a week then as long as you can. I know from experience that if you miss work, it just piles up and gets worse and worse, so try not to let it get to that stage, because it is INSANELY stressful.

If you have to, set a time for you to do your work, and then tell a parent/guardian/sibling to MAKE you do your work at that time, no matter what excuses, abuse and tantrums you throw at them. It will be better for you in the long run :)
What year/grade are you in? If you are higher up the school, I'd say that a C is really good and you shouldn't be too disappointed with that :)

Work out just how much you want to avoid a bad grade. Either your wish to succeed or your apathy will win out. I do not care which you choose if you are decisive about it. One thing I will say is that your grades are not important when getting a low-level job so much as getting into college. If you have a goal, then you should not let yourself grow apathetic about it. The job market is very bad right now, so you should make what you can of not having to find one if nothing else. Life is going to be one long drag for you if you get apathetic enough to quit trying this early on. The life of a bum is respectable to me, but if you do not have it in mind, then I suggest becoming good at the things that you are already trying. I was not publicly schooled though, so none of this applies in the same way to you as it does to me.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, but what I suggest that you do is, first, the obvious, which is to stay caught up with your work, and, second, look for ways to motivate yourself.

For example, think of something you like and apply it to your work. Most students do go through this from time to time, and it's not that abnormal. What you need to do right now is re-assess what you're doing and try to catch up. The reason you're probably spazzing out over it is because you fell behind, and that in turn makes it seem like it's not worth it.

There are many ways to regain motivation, but I don't know you personally, so what I recommend is trying to set up specific time in the day to try and finish whatever school work you need to do see if that works.

oh yeah, a C isn't terrible....unless you NEED a 3.0 GPA to get into the classes I want over at the University. I've already got one, and I don't know if I can even managed an A in another class. If I get another, I can't get into that class. They only take people that have a 3.0 GPA or above.

The beginning of the semester was fine, but lately it's become kinda rediculous. I mean, I personally think part of it is because my mom is breathing down my neck for so much, and I just can't do anything when she does that. But that might not be the entire point.

@Makaze You really know how to dampen a person don't you? It's not like I was public schooled my whole life. I got out at 4th grade. Although, being homeschooled and going to college are a bit different, considering one doesn't really matter as long as you get normal grades, while the other means what jobs you might be able to get depending on your grades.

It only dampens you if it is true. I do not see much hope in life, so if you see none, I do not blame you. I will not blame you for whatever path you take as long as it is based on a sorting of priorities. Apathy consumes me because success in this society does not appeal to me. If someone offers me a job I will take it, but no one is offering them to me. I cannot think of anything worth doing for a living. If you cannot, either, then we are in the same boat until one of finds something worth doing.

Honestly a lot of people have this problem, even the one's who do good in school. The best thing you can do is just force yourself to do your work. You won't get anywhere in today's society with anything less than a High School Diploma. Even GED's get turned down in some places. Finish school and give it your best because if you don't in the long run you will regret it. Hope this helped ^_^

Nay, in many places. You either need work experience or a degree to get a steady job in today's society, in America and the UK specifically. Economic collapse, coming down from a AAA rating, and et cetera...

:dead:Ugh, so many things I should know but never bothered to remember. Makes my head hurt just thinking. And even if I get a C in my class(es) I'll still graduate with a highschool diploma, as well as an associates degree in college, after next semester. Well, as long as nothing happens.
But this is becoming a pain. I can't get myself to do school, and my mom is really starting to breath down my neck, and now she's making me freak out more than usual. She is not helping my case. Not that I'm actually going to tell her my problem, otherwise I might end up dead before this semester ends

My mother gets on my case almost daily about trying to set some goals for my life, but I cannot see it. I finished school because I enjoyed it more than because I cared about surviving.

My advice is to do what pleases you most. That is all.

hence why I'm trying to get B's so I can get into classes for 3D animation. But that's easier said than done. Unless there's someone here who knows how to use something like Maya, I need that class

I feel your pain. I've always been apathetic in high school, but managed to keep my grades up purely because I actually showed up and used common sense in class.
Now that I'm a college student, it's not that simple, and I've been working my ass off to keep up. The difference is, I actually enjoy my classes now. They're fun, and relevant to what I actually need. Granted, now I forget to do my laundry, but meh...

The point being, you gotta do this sh*t if you wanna get anywhere in life. It's sad, but true, because colleges and higher education classes depend on the method of test taking and gradepoint averages to decide whether you're good enough.
And you said you wanted to take 3D animation? Funnily enough, my major is Animation, and while I, personally, prefer 2D, I can tell you from experience that a little extra practice with that sort of thing is wonderful and will put you ahead of the game.

    Think of it this way;
If you get the boring crap out of the way now, you can have fun and do stuff you wanna do later. Sort of like the reward method someone mentioned a few posts up. And a piece of candy whenever you accomplish something won't hurt ya. c:
