All these killings recently around my area in London, they always peak about the victims as 'good kids' and 'would never harm a fly' and 'all he/she wanted to do was to help people.' Now I understand that victims af murders, espically the recent London Stabbings, are basically teens starting their life as adutls, and may never have done much bad too the world but I don't understand one thing. All these people who are murdered and sympathised about are always innocent and good people. But what I don't understand is how this good and righteous people seem to get murdered all the time, Does that mean if you are good you are a victim, helpless? did this people do nothing to prvoke the attacks? I can't believe that (alot of) murderers just go up to random 'good' people and murder them for no reason, it's just strange.
This is often the case when people investigate murders. Families will say the person who was killed was a great person and did nothing wrong and even toss in some great things they allegedly did in their time of life. Why? Because perhaps it is a way to revere the dead because murder is an awful crime that takes the person out of life before they would naturally have met their end. I'm sure the people killed were not all angels but some people can't feel compassion for it unless they hear that is so, or at least that is what some people choose to believe. I could feel bad for anyone murdered, but that's just me. I'm no more happy to see the gang teenager who talks big and bullies people murdered than I would be to see the good volunteering youth who is in student council snuffed out. Both are still losses and though one may have started life rough, perhaps he never had a chance to see positive things enough and that's the culture he knew. In the end, I am of the mind that no one is a truly 'great' person all of the time and to be good or bad is a state of being of a moment. Those who do decide to commit to doing one or the other more often are remarkable people in society. I've heard of a lot of cases of murder being like that, whereas in this country if someone is attacked but not killed often times it can even swing the other way that the defendant is protected more saying that the other person may have somehow evoked the attack. Even rapes can sometimes turn against the victim saying she dressed inappropriately. However, if she was murdered, the case would be different and all sympathy would apply. It's just the way for some reason some people's minds work.
most of the times the people killed are not the most gentle soul in the world. but somehow, why say the bad qualities of the person in public media? they wont say he was alcoholic or was a spoiled person. they will say the nicer things...kinda like presenting a the half image of a person
The "good guy" usually seems to be the one killed, but they aren't always the little goody two shoes the media presents them as. The tragic impact of the murder of a perfect, innocent person who wields no fuel as to why they were murdered is much more emotional then and alcoholic or sex offender being murdered. Some of the people may be innocent, but I bet that more then half have bad traits that the media "forgot" to include.
You have a point there. They and we can have too of a soft heart to get revenge and then someone would use this opportunity to murder and then do what they need to like rob or use. It's not "no reason", it's using or stealing.
Demonize the criminal and glorify the victim. It's the least you can do to comfort the family and friends of the dearly departed. So what if a person wasn't perfect, they're just as dead as anyone else, and they went without a choice, they went without fulfilling their potential. It's only natural to feel pity for something like that. The criminal was in the wrong to begin with so they must not be the very best of people to begin with, they're not worth as much because their only potential has been shown to do harm to others. It's just how it works, there is nothing wrong with it, it's not accurate, but it's a way to help people deal with these things and go on living their simple lives with as little intrusion as possible.
The news describes the victim as usually a kind-hearted soul who didn't deserve it or a merciless killer and is implied that he did deserve it, we never hear something in the middle, or even hear the truth, a concept I don't really believe that the public shouldn't know. But (i'm not really an expert on this) the media is suppose to inform us about the truth, tell us the fact and not give us bull, yet it seems to create good and evil people in the news. I understand that it's for family comfort, but if they need to tell the world that their loved one was perfect, doesn't that make them insecure about their loved one? How truly they know everything they say isn't the truth?
Homicide is usually based on a number of things, such as anger, jealousy and revenge. Obviously the people who say they were good kids and such may have been covering up the dark parts of said kid's story. Every person is two-sided, one side is nice and caring, while the other is dark and mischievous. Murder usually is committed for a certain reason, though the said reason is usually not justified enough. It is human nature to fight and kill. Wars will never stop. World Peace will never happen. We can save the planet, but can we save us from ourselves?
Can't agree less with some of your comments. Murder isn't as big a deal as some make it out to be, it's literally just as easy as cutting meat or shooting a target, many people don't see it as any different. Human construct morals are all that stop many people from doing such things, so who is to say we're right in saying that murder is wrong? People are selfish and want what they want, whether it hurts or helps others it's still selfish and is still their own decision and some will go against society if they want something. Murder is no different, it could be over money or anything else, it makes no difference. If someone wants to do something or have something they'll do it or get it, whatever anyone else says or does. Not every person has two sides, some are just as plain and simple as possible, all one way, there are also those who are very complex and don't simply have distinct sides of their personality. People, more specifically, consciousness isn't that simple, you can create any number of different personalities or justifications to meet any situation, it's not a black, white good, evil thing.
Exactly what I was thinking. In a way the media is giving us the truth. They just aren't giving us the whole truth. I'm not defending the media, but usually they leave out "bad" things that victim has done. They want to make everyone feel sympathetic towards the victim. The victim may not be entirely innocent, but I think the media feels like the criminal did something much worse by killing a random person off the street for example.
People do this all the time though with death. It isn't even just people who are murdered. Ever gone to funerals and heard people talk about how -great- a person was and they totally leave off all the rotten stuff they might have done? It's just the way people handle death in general in the end. We try to let our biases and judgments of a person go when he/she passes on and are raised to let bygones be bygones; remembering the person's good accomplishments. I do agree that certainly not all murders are done to someone who is entirely innocent of the scenario. A majority of murders do happen because something had to be instigated, whether founded or not. Of course, murder is not the answer even with instigation being a factor, unless self-defense was necessary. But death all around is just handled this way because people are so sensitive about it.
Yes I have realized that, as for days ago there was a crime at Edmonton which was a horrible death. But choosing the innocent people is bad. Some people who are murdered could have a reason of why they were killed or maybe they had to do with something. And true, I find it strange yet scary.
