I hope that they kill themselves die at the end since it's Romeo and Juliet in a kid version. But knowing Disney, they least likely won't die...

That movie does not interest me at all.
When I saw a trailer of it I thought: This is a piece of crap, waste of money, time AND space. Who the heck thought of this story?! They just ruined Romeo and Juliet. I hope the owner of the gnomes drop them and they shatter in pieces.

I hate gnomes anyway so even if it did seem interesting I would still most likely not watch it.

While I have no interest in such a movie, I'm sure the movie will most likely be enjoyed by it's intended audience: children/families. It's a cute knockoff of Romeo and Juliet.

On Rotten Tomatoes.com, non-critics have voted to want to see it. I'd probably see it, but only on a date.

I'm going to give this a miss, I don't have any young siblings or relatives (or offspring, thank Gord) I'd be taking to this. My fifth graders don't even seem interested in this.

Only thing that amused me is that it's rated G, yet in one of the trailers one of the gnomes is wearing the Borat banana hammock swimsuit. Yeah, G rated, huh?

Let's look at the plot of the original shall we! Two horny teens, one of whom just got turn down by another girl, meet eachother, fall in "love" and then die. At least the anime version decided to give the characters a bit more depth and actual time to form a relationship. Seriously, in the play, they bearly know eachother for almost 12 hours before they're married, and hardly 2-3 days until they die. That being said, the play does have some of the best monologues I've ever heard.

When I first saw the trialer for it, I wanted to stab my eyes with forks! This is not a good tribute to the Bard or any of his writings.
It's actually Dreamworks who are doing this little production. With Disney/Pixar films, you can at least tell that they are trying. The only Dreamworks movie I liked was Megamind. While Pixars into telling a good moral story, Dreamworks seems to be in it for the money. This movie even existing is living proof of that statement. I would rather see Disney try to pull off a Romeo and Juliet spin-off, simply because it wouldn't seem half-assed.

I could argue that in a way Simba's Pride did just that, the only difference being Kovu and Kiara didn't die at the end of the movie. The animators even mention in the bonus features on the SE DVD that the play was an inspiration for the sequel.

Okay, good example. And I did like Simba's Pride, even though the movie has actually recieved a lot of hate. Now that I'm starting to remember it, it did tell the RxJ story very well. That being said, it still doesn't change anything.

This movie was made to make money.
It has bright colors to attract kids.
    It's going to suck.

Wrong again. Its Touchstone Pictures. What you said about DreamWorks Animation is awfully wrong, their movies are great if you don't include Shark Tale and the half assed Shrek sequels.

Yes I know Dreamworks is jointed with Touchstone but thats like saying Disney affects Marvel heavily.

How can you say that my opinion is wrong? Yes, I will say that Dreamworks have done a few good movies (the only ones that come to mind are Megamind and Surf's Up) but the rest of them I see as bad movies. I can say the same for Pixar. They're fantastic at story telling and character developement, but there are some movies by them that I just don't like (Meet the Robinsons and The Incredibles for example). I can respect that you think Dreamworks makes good movies, everyone has their own unique taste, but you can't just go around saying that opinions are wrong. Opinions aren't based around facts.

    Oh c'mon guys, lighten up~!

    It's a kid's movie remember?

    It's supposed to be stupid.

But, honestly, it looks like a cute little movie filled with bad puns and stale humor. c:

You never said it was your opinion, you said it like you were simply stating it :/

    Oh, well,er...
I guess it's because I usually see my own opinion as fact sometimes. It's only natural: I think I'm right, therefore etc. etc..

i absolutely loved it, all the ways it fit together with the shakespearean classic. Everything was done perfectly even down to the '2B' on the front of the mailboxes, awesome movie!

I'll be honest, I hate hate HATE anything written by Shakespeare (although I thought Hamlet was OKish)

But I ended up enjoying this movie a lot because it ended up making a mockery out of a story I hate.
Too many pop culture references? Maybe so, but I'll admit, I cracked up at Hulk Hogan's dialogue

This movie is terrible, Great for 5 year olds though. Keeps them occupied, which is what I like. Quiet kids.
