Do you think that it's real, and a problem we need to fix soon? Or do you think that it's a conspiracy that we shouldn't care about? I think it's real, but the stats that scientists are giving us are miscalculated.

    What do you think?

I agree. It's not just people who are causing global warming. Did they ever stop to think that it may be partly the sun's fault? I don't really believe the scientists, but I DO know that there is some global warming.

That's right. Not just the humans but other things too..

If there is global warming, it's not being caused by us, and it's not some new thing. It's probably been going on as long as there's been anything to cause pollution. A single large, active volcanoe can create more pollution than all the major cities of the world when it erupts. And seeing as how, since the creation of the world, there have been hundreds, if not thousands of volcanoe eruptions of very serious magnitude, what we release cannot even make a dent on the world's pollution. Also, very minor changes in the atmospheric water caused by mother nature herself can cause very, very significant increases or decreases in the temperature of water, which contributes much more of a change than carbon dioxide does. And seeing as how we can't even hope to regulate the amounts of water being absorbed into the air, I'd say we have only to sit and wait out the hot temperature until the process repeats itself, or the world ends... In about a few thousand, if not more, years.

I think everyone's blaming humans a little too much for this...I mean, is the world being polluted by our cars and factories? Hell yeah, but the Earth is filled with a bunch of magma. Really hot magma. Did the scientists ever bother to think about the fact that the magma could be heating up and causing this? Or maybe nature's just evening itself out, since it has the habit of doing so.

Personally, I think the fact that humans are causing Global Warming's a bunch of hoo-hah.

I think of it a little bit like this:

Whenever the world's population (be it humans, dinosaurs, whatever) gets too high, there's always been a natural disaster to even it out. Maybe this is nature's way of evening out our population.

Who knows? At any rate, we ought to do our best to keep it from getting out of hand.

I think if humans contributed to this, it would only be 0.5 percent of it.

I think its real but i think scientists blame it on us because they dont want to admit that they are the one responsible

It's amazing how uneducated the members of this forum can be about certain subjects. No, global warming isn't casued from volcanos, magma, the sun, or even humans. Ever heard of an ice age? It's a natural progression of Earth. Earth has spun around and around and around the sun at least 4.5 billion times, and because of the gravitational pull of the sun, we go around it in a circle. However, due to small, small, small changes over time, the route is different each time. Earth moves in circles around the sun, but every so often it will branch off and go in an eliptical orbit. On summers, we're closer to the sun then normal, so it's way hotter, during the winter, we're really far away, so it's a lot colder. Earth came out of this eliptical movement about 100000 years ago, you know, last ice age time. We're way overdue for it to happen again. The pollutiont hat we put forth DOES have a very small affect, and as we move into the eliptical orbit, we're absorbing more rays fromt he sun, casuesing global warming. This global warming causes fresh water ice to drop into the ocean and cool the ocean currents, stopping all waves and ripples and movement of water. This will slow the air currents to a screeching halt, leaving large clouds of pollution and water vapor int he air. Large ammounts of radiation everywhere due to greenhouse affect, this will throw us hurtling into a second ice age. END OF STORY.

It's not our fault this is happening, it's not the sun's fault, it's not volcanos or magma, it's Earth.

Alot of what cin says is true and nature is alot to blame, by no means is this a docile issue, but I can't really say that it is all totally natures fault. We do contribute to many pollutants being pumped into the air day in and day out. And at the rate that society outputs carbons, I can't completely say we have no part. But the ice caps have been melting over the last couple 100000 years or so, which is the reason why water levels are rising.

Actuallly.. I'm taking a science class on this.

What is happening is this, we're getting rising CO2 levels. With this, we should be in the mother of all ice ages right now.

With the charts and data that has been accumulated, we're three to four times higher than all ice ages combined considering the CO2 levels.

If it was natural, the complete opposite would be happening. We're causing it to totally change nature by itself by disturbing it with freakishly high levels of carbon and causing the temperature to rise.

Before debating more about science, look it up on the internet on .gov websites. Not Wikipedia, not .com, but .gov.

Where my parents live would be a seaside resort in worse case scenario.

What also has been looked at? Rising asthma attacks? Change in the weather? Look deeper before denying.

I belive its true. If you haven't noticed almost all of the worlds ice caps are gone and sea levels are slowly rising. You could blame the sun, but we started it i guess. We killed the Ozone and so more sun is getting through which warms the sea, which melts the ice contenets.

So, basically, we should be in the Ultimate ice age right now, but we're not.

Considering we can only estimate the CO2 levels from previous ice ages, I refuse to take any of that as actual proof. However, I'll leave it open as a possibility for myself.

And Cin, volcanoes create CO2 and plenty of other gasses that can rise the temperature... Hell, the pure temperature can cause huge increases.

So it's absolutely in now way our fault for pollution? We aren't the cause of the rising CO2 levels?

    Think again.

Sara is right on this one. What she is talking about is something called the greenhouse effect. But nature does have an effect on this one, and I am not talking about just volcanoes. Cows, for example, whenever they pass gas actually harm the ozone layer about as much as one car (at least I think it's like that; it's been a long time since I had that science class). Also, if you need proof that this is happening, look at Venus: its atmosphere is full of CO2 and harmful gases, along with plenty of volcanoes and high temperatures because of it.

Why do you think there's so many cows? We eat a lot of hamburgers and such, I don't think it's natural to have that many.

And yes, Venus is the hottest planet in the Solar System, even about 100-200 degrees hotter than Mercury which is closer.

They also can measure the levels of CO2 in the past, even the people against global warming admitted that.

(sighs) Unfortunately, it all comes down to money when it comes to cows. Especially when places like McDonalds and Burger King have a high demand for them, which aren't that healthy to begin with (if you don't believe me, watch 'Super Size Me'. You'll be convinced then). There is a little bit of good news though: The hole in the ozone layer is just a smidge smaller (this bit of news is a few years old, though), but it will still take years before it is completely reparied.
