    Toga, toga, toga, toga!

I'd wear a skirt over my pants. Pants are too bland, they need frills.

Skirts are very comfy. I wish I owned more than one.

Excellent point. Besides togas and kilts, this is primarily why we see characters inspired from Norse mythology wearing skirt-like clothing (Skyrim for instance). So even the most badass warriors in history, the vikings, didn't wear pants.

That said I still love skirts on an attractive woman, color me shallow but it is just something I'm attracted to- something I don't think a lot of people can help.

I'm wearing a skirt right now. I only have one pair of work pants so I wear them regularly.

    Rules of Skirt Wearing;
    ~ Don't go commando.
~ If it's cold, add leggings or tall boots or something if you enjoy having skin on your legs.
~ Fold your skirt under you when you sit or it'll wrinkle.
~ If your skirt is longer than your mid-calf, pick up the hem when going up and down stairs or you'll trip and kill yourself.
    ~ Close your damn legs.

Pants may not have been the norm historically, but I just cannot feel comfortable with a hole like that in my clothing. Maybe it was all the skirt uniforms as a kid, but I'm done with them.

    Oohlala~

Seriously. This woman gets it. It's like a how-to guide to wearing a skirt and not looking like an idiot oreasy[DOUBLEPOST=1396473683][/DOUBLEPOST]
I just don't feel comfortable until I've completely removed my pants from the equation. Girls are lucky as I'm told skirts emulate this.

I agree with this, but I also don't think it's too much of a negative thing to refer to pants as a 'default bottom clothing' for comparison's sake. Most people one tends to run into in their everyday life in the modern age have worn/continue to wear pants regularly, I can see why people often think of pants first as opposed to skirts/dresses. That said, I do think people should acknowledge those as just as 'normal' clothing for all people, but pants as a general usage isn't bad imo.

i don't know where i went with this i had been thinking about it & felt compelled to reply lol

It's not shallow at all to have preferences of dress on people, personally I find baggy clothes quite unattractive on men, that's just a part of being human. We can happily and acceptably act on these preferences in that I may not pursue guys not dressed to my tastes, just as some people find certain races more attractive than others. It's not to say we would never pursue people not dressed in the way we prefer, just that we're less likely to (at least initially). There's a lot that goes into creating those preferences (like for the example of race, if you've been raised in a racist household you're going to be less inclined to a preference of black people, though of course many break away from that, it's not the only factor).

Of course, if we're dictating that people must dress a certain way, then that's a problem. Happily that's changed a lot in the last century; before the world wars it was unheard of for a woman to wear pants (it was really WWII and the social movements of the 1960s that killed it), but now it's a commonly accepted phenomena.
I'm trying to get more comfortable wearing dresses and such, I find them so cute and I buy them all the time but I rarely wear them. It's just an adjustment process though, things like sitting or going down stairs (like Fearless mentioned) seem daunting at first but after a few wears it'll feel more natural. But if you don't want to wear them that's cool too, I just find dresses quite cute.
It's difficult to classify clothing in this way because fashion changes so much and so rapidly, I do agree there. However, despite pants now being more gender neutral, it remains true that skirts are (socially, commonly) restricted to women. It's no coincidence that the garment usually attached to men is the one that becomes "unisex" -- that is, women can adapt something traditionally male, but there's still a huge stigma against men adapting something traditionally female.

This kind of leads into gender role stereotypes in today's society. It's not manly for a guy to like cute things and it's not feminine for a girl to ... do something ungirly (can't think of anything at the moment). Pink used to be the norm for men back in the day and blue for women.

Honestly it is a garment like any other. So long as it's not indecent then it should be acceptable for anyone to wear.
    Plus, dat fashun

Way to go flappers and hippie music! You've given half of the human beings on earth the opportunity to be casual when they want to. Man, life used to be weird.

And I only specified because I've been called swallow for it before. It stems from my having an attraction to formality, probably because I'm such an informal person, (a revelation I can imagine put you in a near state of shock and made you run for a paper bag so you could steady your breathing). But obviously people aren't formal all the time and shouldn't ever be forced to be because that'd be dumb. Just like it.

Also, baggy clothes are absolutely disgusting to me. I've seen and dated girls who wear baggy clothes regularly and just yick.

EDIT: I thought your post was shorter or maybe I skimmed, but I just read from "we can happily" to the end of the first paragraph and I don't have anything to add- it's that perfect. Environment means so much on the way our tastes, preferences, and even our minds shape.

As for bagginess... it's a weird balance. I like some of my tee shirts to have a bit of give to them, but they're also not hanging off my body. Part of it is out of comfort and another part is just that I order tee shirts offline a lot and it's difficult to determine what size to buy, so I usually just order medium & am too lazy to exchange it heh.

I've gotten into the habit of posting, then immediately thinking up something more to add a minute or two later, so I edit it in hoping no one will notice lol

Lik Id nvr du that. Ahm alwace purfect in mah posts.

That's why you got to be quick in the edits. I'll normally skim over a few times for spelling/grammar mistakes, fix them, and then forget I ever posted it. Sometimes they're just too quick and you don't get your edit in in time.

We wouldn't judge you. Wear them over your pants and make the transition. Generally people don't care what you wear outside of school. Inside school kids are heartless creatures with no rhyme or reason behind them.

Baggy and saggy are technically two different things. By baggy I assume you both mean saggy, which I agree is unsightly. It's a personal pet peeve of mine, as I'm sure you both of know -- at least Misty should -- but I won't lie, when I was a sophomore in high school I tried it for a while until a friend, who ironically did the same thing, though I'm not sure if it was intentional or not, told me to pull them up, but it was only when I wore this one pair of jeans that was too big for me (not anymore, ha!), so I figured I'd just take advantage of it. I had a belt back then, but even with that I could still easily slide them down.

I was either 17 or 18 back then, depending on if it was before or after my birthday. I can't exactly remember.

You could have gotten a smaller belt.

I only had a holed fake leather belt at the time, and it didn't go tight enough, and I used the very last hole. Now I have that and a felt belt that you just pull through two "rings" and can get it as tight as necessary.

It's not as easy as it seems.
