Girl banned from Xbox LIVE for being lesbian

Eh.. I think the staff saw what was going on and decided to deal with the apparent root of the problem as they were too lazy to get their fucked up ass's into action and ban the people harrassing this poor girl.

 

I don't approve of this. While I wouldn't put information like that on my profile myself, I would never ban anyone for making his/her sexual orientation known. It is completely unfair.

 

You do raise a point there. But either way, doesn't that some what make this a hate crime? I mean, idk about everyone else, but even on a forum, is it legal to ban someone just for being lesbian?

But ya, Candy raises a good point there. I just don't get why they didn't ban the people that were maken fun of her......
though I dun see why someone would be maken fun of a lesbian in the first place, since out of personal experience, I find them to be very delightful to be around ^_^

 

Yes, it is legal. There is no free speech or equality regulations on private forums. Even here, where we can talk about this, if the staff said we couldn't, then we have no choice. They (microsoft) pay to operate the forum, they can control it with an iron fist.

 

It's unfair, but why would she post that? I don't want to sound like I'm against her, but just what is she trying to prove?

Well, the purpose of the profile attatched to your Gamertag is to tell a little about yourself, what you find important to you. If she thought that being a lesbian was a big part of her life (or hell, even if she just wanted to play with open-minded people), then I see no reason for it not to be there. The same argument could be made if someone put "I love RPGs"... "What are they trying to prove by saying they love RPGs? They're there to play, not to talk about themselves, it's not a social networking site!".

That is really unfair, I mean...just because she said she's an sexual oriatation that's not in the hetrosexual area, she get's banned? I mean, i've seen and heard much worst things then this on XBOX live.


If they are being like this, then they should also ban the people who put that they hae girlfriends and boyfriends, if they want to be "FAIR"

 

That's a horrible reason for a ban. Yeah, she shouldn't have had it on there, since they don't currently allow it for any orientation, but it's not worthy of a ban, even if one's being harassed for it. Those that were bullying should have received the corrective action and the girl should have been told to remove her orientation from her profile to meet Xbox Live terms/requirements/whatever. The fact that they're just banning people for having that on there, when it can be an important part of who someone is, is ridiculous.

 

This isn't even remotely fair, just because she's different. I mean, if someone complained about it, then they could at least secretly allow her back on, or somehow pay her back.

 

Thats completely unfair and whoever says it her fault for being lesbian or for putting it on her profile is just an *sshole.I mean some people have names like anal Rape and don't get banned but putting your sexual orientation gets you banned??? thats just unfair, and to be honest i don't know why Microsoft would want publisity like that.It was niether smart nor fair.

 

Inappropriate use of words in profile.
Sounds right to me. It may be descrimination, but Live has rules of words in profile. You can't say F*** in your profile without expecting to be banned for it.
Its wrong for being banned on Live for socializing or having a different lifestyle, but its wrong to let people use inappropriate words in Gamertags or profiles.

 

This is exactly why I avoided Xbox, it's community and all it's staff seeing how all you ever hear from Xbox nowadays is problems or repetition.

 

I heard stories about how strict the staff were there but i wasn't expecting them to be banning people for profanities.I mean the largest ban i've heard of from Xbox live is some guy who got banned until 9999AD.
banning people for stuff like stating who you are is just not right.You could do that on PSN, have a profanity for a name and roar at the top of your lungs on your mic in a game and you wouldn't hear a word from staff.Usuall people like that are just black listed on forums and when they go into a game, they get booted.

 

That is rediculous, why should some girl be banned for that, and i have heard the exact same thing from one of my friends.... that is stupid...
