Gilbert Gottfried, voice of Iago the Parrot in Aladdin has confirmed his involvement for an "upcoming Kingdom Hearts video game" on his Twitter account (as seen below). This is most definitely for the Agrabah Re:coded scenes in Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMix (slated for release in 2014).

UPDATE: Tweet has been deleted (similar to how Jesse McCartney deleted his tweet involving HD 1.5 ReMix last year)

I'm glad he's never too busy to revisit a classic. You go Gilbert.

I love it when the original Disney VAs return for Kingdom Hearts! The people they get in their stead are usually great anyway, but there's something really nice about hearing people like James Woods and Gilbert Gottfried back in the roles. Glad to have some kind of KH2.5 news as well.

      Thanks Roxam c:

Yup, Gilbert Gottfried and James Woods have both gone on record as saying that their Disney characters are their favorite achievements of their lives, and that they'll return to the role any time, for any reason.

Although, if I may have a brief soapbox moment, irks me a bit every time someone refers to Gottfried or Woods as one of the "few" actors who have reprised their Disney roles for Kingdom Hearts. (which no one did here, I just thought I'd mention it...) There have been, like, 40 other people who have done that, including a majority of their 'Aladdin' and 'Hercules' co-stars. Sure, not a lot of HUGE celebrities, but still.

Moving on to my excitement: I love that the Re:coded movie is going to include the Disney worlds!! The Days collection was great, and I completely understand why it left the Disney worlds out - most of the plot and drama was between the Organization members, plus unless I'm mistaken there were time constraints - but what can I say, I'm one of those wackos who actually likes Kingdom Hearts for the Disney material. :D

I read that tweet in his voice, lmao.

But yaaay, any news is good news at this point. Thanks for the update!~

...Yeeah. Lots of Disney actors came back, and I don't think I even got all of them on here. So hey yeah, glad that a bunch of 'em are sticking with it! Nobody but Gil could do Iago justice.

Oh yeah there are definitely a lot! It's just not always consistent, which I totally understand why but I do notice it at times... Like in the first game, Hercules isn't voice by Tate Donovan (I think he was in KH2), it's Sean Astin. Their Herc voices are pretty similar but if you binge watched LotR movies as a child like I did it's noticeable heh.

Good to hear he returns for the role he was born to voice. Just wouldn't be the same without his parrot voice going "JAFAH!"
I do hope others make their returns as well for an extra bit of dialogue 2.5 adds. News for the collection has been pretty slow lately, but it's great to see it pick up.

I find this good news because that means that Re: Coded will actually be a fully animated movie (sort of). I mean, one thing that annoyed me with Days was that they didn't show a lot of events that happened in worlds. Granted, a lot of the story in Re: Coded did happen throughout the entire story, not just the beginning and end of worlds. At least they're not just making the existing cutscenes look prettier.

What's your criteria for a character voice being a reprisal, there? A few of the people you've listed are NOT that characters' original actor... Are you referring to simply anyone who's played that character at least once before? Pfft, there's nothing special about that. Yes, Cam Clarke, Dan Castellaneta, and Bobby Costanzo have respectively played Simba, Genie, and Phil before... but they weren't the first. That's what I was talking about...

But hey, as long as you've done one, I might as well do the one I was gonna do... not to stomp on yours or anything, please take no offense - so, here we go, every Kingdom Hearts actor who was the FIRST person to play the Disney character they voice in the series. So what I said before still stands: even with that strict criteria, you've still got like 40 people...

Kathryn Beaumont from "Alice in Wonderland" and "Peter Pan" (reprisal after 50 years, plus she later got the role of Kairi's grandma - I don't know about you, but to me, that spells "made of win"...)

John Fielder from "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh"

Bruce Boxleitner from "Tron" (notable for being the only reprisal of a live-action role the series has seen to date - though as tale_wind mentioned, Geoffrey Rush managed to re-dub Barbossa for the Australian version of KHII)

Jodi Benson, Ken Mars, Pat Carroll, and CD Barnes from "The Little Mermaid"

Robby Benson, Paige O'Hara, David Ogden Stiers, Jo Anne Worley, and ANGELA LANSBURY (!) from "Beauty and the Beast"

Scott Weinger, Linda Larkin, Jonathan Freeman, Gilbert Gottfried, and Frank Welker from "Aladdin"

Chris Sarandon, Ken Page, and Glenn Shadix from "The Nightmare Before Christmas"

Ernie Sabella, Robert Guillame, Cheech Marin, and Jim Cummings from "The Lion King" (also James Earl Jones and Jonathan Taylor Thomas, via audio extracted directly from the movie itself)

Jason Alexander and Charles Kimbrough from "The Hunchback of Notre Dame"

Tate Donovan, James Woods, Susan Egan, and Josh Keaton from "Hercules"

Ming-Na Wen, BD Wong, Pat Morita, Harvey Fierstein, Gedde Watanabe, and Jerry Tondo from "Mulan"

Tony Goldwyn and Brian Blessed from "Tarzan"

Chris Sanders, David Ogden Stiers (again!), Kevin Michael Richardson, and Zoe Caldwell from "Lilo and Stitch", plus Frank Welker from "Stitch! The Movie" (but you can't really count Frank Welker, because the man is in EVERYTHING... but note that this makes Deep Space the one world in the series with ALL of its characters' original actors in it)

      Zach Braff from "Chicken Little"

...and maybe we can count Jeff Bennett and Maurice LaMarche from "The Three Musketeers", since the version of the Beagle Boys seen in that movie are pretty much original characters.

Yeah, I was just aiming for actors who had done the roles before/in addition to Kingdom Hearts, not just the originals. Your list is pretty good, too; definitely a lot more organized than mine, with some people I hadn't found/mentioned. XD

I'd love it if it actually flowed like a movie, none of the weird fade outs or journal bits from Days (not the journal bits where Roxas talks, the parts where the days aren't animated and are instead just text)

I WAS SO UPSET WHEN I FOUND OUT THAT THE PLOT-RELEVANT BOSS FIGHTS IN 358/2 WERE JUST TEXT INSTEAD OF FULLY-ANIMATED CUTSCENES I WILL FLIP A TABLE IF WE DON'T GET ANIMATED BOSS FIGHTS IN THE RE:CODED MOVIE

Easily the greatest sin are the Xion and Riku fights. I mean seriously

You might as well do it now. Just because we're getting voiced scenes in Disney worlds doesn't necessarily mean animated boss fights.

      I stand corrected.

Yeah! It's always great to hear that some voice actor is returning, specially a Disney's character!

At same time we know they're currently working on localizing the 2.5 right now. They should finish it on time to launch the game this year.

Also, somebody can make a shoot of how length will be the Re:Coded cinematic all together? Less than one hour?
