A one-tonne crocodile which may be the biggest ever caught alive has been captured in the Philippines, and officials say they are now hunting for an even bigger beast.

Crikey(went there), that's one heck of a reptile..how did they manage to catch it..? I mean that thing looks like it could eat 5 men while swimming along and not realize it.

    Wow, that's an amazing catch.

I have to admit, though, I feel bad that it's dead -- at least I'm assuming it is. If I made a catch like that, I would have a picture taken with it, and then I would send it back to its home safely.

    Ah, that's good.

I'm glad they'll put it somewhere safe. :)

I saw an article about it, apparently they sent it to some wildlife reserve where it's going to be a star attraction. All the news sites have a little blot about this.

They couldn't release it back into the wild because it had apparently attacked and killed someone, but they can't kill it either because it's an endangered species and it's a 12 year jail sentence along with a 1 million dollar fine in American money if they did.

If this is anything like the "Lake Placid" movie(s), there's ALWAYS another/bigger one out there.

Oh, wow...I saw this on the MSN news thingy, and I am really impressed with this.
But with everything impressive, there is something greater.
We'll end up with fifty foot crocodiles and thirty foot birds.

Then the crocodile can have a proper dentist.
I love those little crocodile-teeth cleaning birds

Well they should of just released it in my opinnion... Zoo is safe, but considering it was being free all its life, and now it just has to live in a zoo. I'd rather be free :P

Hmm... I have watched Nature channels where they were in search of large crocs, but they where afriad that they have become extinct. The largest then was 15ft long, so this beaut definitely surpassed that. I'm glad they are putting it in the zoo, i would go just to see a 21ft long crocodile!

I agree, but the reason they're doing that is because it killed some people when it was out in the wild.

That and giant Crocodiles are endangered. It was thought that many are no longer in existance... But this is proof. I'm sure with all the media coverage, it would be better to sent it to the zoo than the wild. Poachers are prolly licking their lips and counting the dough in their minds just lookin at that thing.

I was going to ask if it had killed anyone too. >>
It's huge! I can't say that I'm happy that it's being used as some star attraction, but... a crocodile as big and as dangerous needs to be in a more... safer environment where it can't hurt others.

    Especially if it's endangered too.

Wow... That's like really big lol.

I'm happy that the Croc is safe and that it's going to a zoo.

Very sad that it apparently killed people though :(

I can see how sending it to a zoo/wildlife preserve would be good for it . . . but it didn't grow that big inside a cage did it? Nature is best left where it wants to be, we just need to stop all the poachers and careless people from harming magnificent creatures such as this.

Bottom line though, I am glad they are keeping it safe and didn't just kill it. I hope it is happy in its new home and has a good life ^_^

It killed a person. I'm more happy it's going somewhere where it is constantly watched than being left out in the wild. A good find though I must say.
