Gender Bias in Toplessness?

yeah that does kinda suck huh? when i was in marching band in high school, for instance, all the guys could practice for 9 hours straight in 100+ degree heat with their shirts off the and girls were dying! lol i wanted to tell my section to run around naked in the sprinklers, but they are 98% girls, so that wouldnt work... DX sucks huh?!

That's probably the worst argument that has caught my eye since...Well, ever probably. "Girls have breasts and guys don't?" Then explain to me the difference between a guy's chest and a very flat-chested girl's. Why the former can be shown in public and the latter can't.

 

How old are you? I am guessing from your apparent lack of understanding of the human body that you are what? 5?

Firstly guys do still have a chest, ok, they might not have tits in the same way women do (unless they are fatties) but still why should men be allowed to be topless when women can't be?

Secondly, if breasts are like a guys ****, what the hell do you class a vagina as? Since you know, I always kind of thought that they were the female equivalent.

Or do you mean that breasts are something additional that women should keep private, but in that case, why should they? What is it that is so controversial about tits? Half of the population has them.

I would personally love it if women could go topless (and not in a sexual way), because it would mean a step away from the Victorian Era and earlier morals that our society still clings to for some reason. The only problem is, as has been pointed out, that if women did start to go topless, men would go nuts over it, and cases of rape or attempted rape would probably skyrocket. People who, up till that point, had only fantasized about it would find themselves faced with a terrible temptation that they may not be able to resist. And now I have to stop typing because my mom is going apeshit insane over me being on here. I'll edit this if I can remember what to type after I get back.

 

I don't see how it would, I kind of think that it is because there is such a huge deal on censorship that it has become such an issue of controversy. If women could go topless then it would just become something natural IMO. Sure at first there might be issues with women being accused of being whores and ****, but as someone else pointed out women didn't used to be allowed to show ankles (or wrists either, or their necks).

I think that women should be allowed to wander around topless if they choose to, whatever happens as a consequence of that, well by making the decision to go topless they make the decision to face those consequences. We should at least be given the choice.

Besides, have you SEEN some girls? I am pretty sure that if guys were suddenly confronted with the tits of society that they would be put off sex. It isn't just the pretty, hawt and beautiful girls in society that would be able to wander around topless, but also the fat girls and the ugly girls and stuff.

 

Isn't the whole reason for wearing a bra in the first place is so that breasts don't sag later in life? Other than that, there really doesn't seem to be any non-societal reason to keep them covered.

If you think about it, there really aren't any real difference between the male breast and the female breast. Believe it or not, the males' are just as sensitive to touch as the females'. They maintain the same function of showing signs of sexual arousal. One's just more noticable than the other.

Anyway, the female chest is just as natural as the male. There's probably going to be the male tendency to reach out and touch them, but let's face it. It's only because they're curious and uninformed. Moobs and boobs are pretty much the exact same thing. There's no difference in texture and feel other than a few stray hairs.

Who knows? Maybe in a couple of decades it'll be allowed. Woodstock had bare breasts. Nudist beaches/camps/colonies have them. It'll probably just be a matter of time before it's more widely accepted.

 

As I said, I had to go in the middle of typing. I would have said that, after a while, America (and wherever else adopted that) would be like those African and Polynesian societies - completely unaffected by boobies.

 

The only reason men are attracted is because it's covered up in the first place. If it weren't covered, it wouldn't be such a fetish.

 

There's also instinctive reasons, ie breasts are a way for men to identify women.

 

Guys make such a big deal about it because they barely get to see it. Because of that, it fascinates them in a sense. If you girls didn't make such a big deal about covering it up, then Us guys wouldn't make such a big deal about seeing it. It would become natural to us. It's like how nude societies work. Nudists men don't really take as much notice about that stuff because they see it all the time. Lolz funny topic.
