If Axel had the power of the sun instead of fire, perhaps you could call them opposites?

Anyhow, it is Saix's job to be a ******. He is Saix. Plus, he is the "no-nonsense emotionless robot" of the Organization. Notice how almost every other member seems to have at least a small personality.

Oh, he has a personality... a personality of a chainsaw. As you said, he is a "no-nonsense" kind of guy. I think, though, that people misjudge his coldness for emotionless. I am guessing there's a reason behind that coldness, but we just haven't learned it yet.

An intersting thing is that on the trailer on the official website, when they get ranked, while Roxas and Xigbar are pissed that they lost, Saix is all "Oh wow, I won, what a surprise" and Axel is all "Oh wow, I lost, what a surprise"

Saix and Axel not liking each other may have something to do with something in the new game or because Axel went after the traitors in COM and Saix may have been jealous of him since he may have been sent out by Xenmas himself to take care of the task. I don't think it has anything to do with Axel having a higher chair than him which he does. Also Axel questions his orders to Saix and perhaps the blue haired nobody doesn't like to be questioned. Saix seems like someone who would do anything for Xenmas and puts thoughts in his head since he did influence Xenmas with Axel.

I don't see much chance in that since, first of all they can't love, and secondly, Larxene was a known traitor.

Saïx is a '******' because it's just the way he is and Axel is really irritating most of the time so Saïx just highly dislikes him and the things he does.

I'm going with the Xemnas doesn't trust Axel and therefore Saix doesn't trust him either. Saix deffinatley values Xemnas's opinions therefore it's logical he'd dislike those his leader dislikes. Rather like a queen bee and a wannabe or something to use a rather high-school-movie-esque analagy.

Serial killers who are pathological and have little feelings have been known to display characteristics Saix has. He is sadistic in nature, taking advantage of others over what he does not have. He has no feelings but remembers them very well. He spells it out for Sora that they have no Hearts and yet know how to hurt a Heart. He smirks when Sora is graveling at his feet. Many of the actions he does are performed explicitely to get negative reactions from others such as when he goads Riku, teases Axel, messes with Sora, etc. Yes, he also does them because it helps in his mission, but his own reactions show he enjoyed them, or would have had he had a Heart and he -knows- it.

That -is- what a sadist is. He doesn't have to be physical and into -sadism- as Larxene was, though she too was a person that abused people mentally as well, to be called a sadist or sociopathic. He was dutiful for his own desire to have back his Heart. It doesn't mean he was not anti-social and was not considered pathological by any means, seeking to destroy the wills of others or at least watch them squirm. He did smirk and make comments even to the effect of if he did have a heart 'this is where I'd die laughing', which lends to the fact even in life before he was a sociopath in characteristics. I see nothing that suggests otherwise in the novels or in the game. I liked the character but he truly was a jerk and I have no idea how it cannot just be admitted that he was not a nice guy and probably never was.

Saix also attacks like an savage wolf when he goes into his beserk mode which is interesting that he has pointed ears.

  15. Well, people can't forget, that Axel was much of a ****** before. So a ****** deserves a ****** to put him in his place.

Other than that, I might actually have a theory of why Saïx is the way he is to Axel once I reread a KH2 Novel excerpt when concerning our dear Berserker, and it makes me wonder why I didn't see it before. In the scene, Saïx is in TWTNW, and contemplates and muses on how Axel acts differently from others and feels lonely without Roxas there, and questions that isn't that the mark of a Heart? He's kind of pissy that Axel may or may not have something that he's been pining for [and in turn, is Xemnas's lapdog], or that he gets to experience things that he can't. In other words, I believe he's jealous. If not, bitter.

Think about this. We know, as much as his death goes, and his thoughts [though, his thinking of this is more in the novels], that he wants and desires a Heart the most, perhaps more than the Organization combined considering he was begging pitifully for it, and did everything to gain it or make the process complete faster. Then we have Axel, who has a dear friend, and is able to show sort of emotions that is not possible otherwise. And I think subsconciously, Saïx hates it, because someone has what he doesn't.

Put this in your mind when hearing what he says to Axel most of the time, calling him foolish for having a "worthless friendship", and basically, his insults to the redhead revolves around that alone, about how he's delusioned, etc. Even recently, in the 358/2 Days scan/trailer that sparked this thread, is with "Your worthless friendship or the extinction of Roxas. Which is more important to you?". Is almost like he tries to put him down in that aspect [or is in denial], and plays around with him, and usually, that's a defense mechanism to cover up the real fact that he's....I wouldn't say angry, but harsh...sour. Saïx probably did think it was stupid in the beginning, not ruling that out, but as time passed by, he began to really question it, and in the end, it makes sense [in the novel] that he's perturbed and lost by the fact that Axel is going through feelings that he's working hard to get himself, and goes out of his way to target him solely because of it [other than trying to eliminate Axel because of his defection]. I mean, they understand that Roxas, and now Xion to a extent, are special, yet Axel is the oddball, he isn't born like they have done to be considered anything out of the ordinary compared to the rest.

    Just something to ponder over.

I still don't agree, especially with the "If I had a Heart, this is where I'd die of laughter" quote, considering that not only was it a form of expression [or goodness forbid, if someone makes a sarcastic remark like that, that we are all secretly sociopathic o.O], the scene that it happened in and why, there's no doubt I was laughing my butt off as well xD. Seriously, Kairi and Naminé putting up fists like they were going to actually do something? Funny. That's not sociopathic, that's realistic comedy: they're acting all tough when they don't have the means to be. I still wonder what they were thinking, really. But, I'm not going to run this to the ground. I don't believe his actions are sadistic in the sense, whether mentally or not, but something else, and if you refer to him as that, might as well call the rest who make a expression like he does sadistic as well, considering he isn't the only one who's made that sort of reaction when Sora was in trouble/in battle.

I have never read the novels and can't since I can't read japanese so I base the facts on the game and supposely the manga.

So being dark and ruthless and emotionless is how ones suppose to win back their heart? Maybe that is why Saix's attitude was judged that way, but it is interesting that he has pointed ears so it might have some kind of effect with his berserker form that he could turn into a ravenous dog like creature. Yes he is sadistic in that form and really scary. I say he is jealous, but I don't see how Axel is a ****** because Saix seem to have something against him or fuel the fire in my opinion. The only thing I have caught on is that Axel rather question Saix if he tries to give him orders which leads to the outcome that he does not trust him.

Saïx is number VII, Axel is VIII. Axel joined after Saïx so they are kinda rivals. And Saïx is not using his memories to make false emotion and is ticked when Axel seems to make false emotion.

I'm pretty sure it's the fact that Axel acts on his own intrests, for the good of the Organization or not. Think about it: he took out four members in CoM( two by himself, two through Sora ), and then helped Sora into The World That Never Was, effectivley destroying another five, I believe, which is more than half of the Organization. That includes Saix and Axel himself. Now, even though this was before the event in question took place, would you trust a sneak like that? He clearly has no idea what he's doing. Saix is acting in the intrests of the Organization, since he has none of his own considering the fact that they have no "personalities", as they have no hearts. Demyx is a good example of this. They fake personalities for "entertainment". Saix is trying to get back his heart, while Axel screwed it up for everyone. Too many people side with Axel because they're fans. That doesn't mean he's right. I'm siding with Saix.
Example of that: I like Vexen, but he's still a creepy old fart. :D

Saix isn't really that bad. He just wants the same thing that Xemnas wants. I read that he and Xemnas are the most nobody-ish XIII members, which explains why they are so loyal to eachother and their goals. Axel was able to have "emotions" while Saix couldn't/didn't want to. That makes sense because why would you want to fake something if you're going to get it later? Saix probably devoted all of his time after becoming a Nobody into the Kingdom Hearts project of Xemnas'. He probably would've seen that Axel was wasting time and would rather buy ice-creme than help the XIII. Saix was trying to get something accomplished, and was; pardon the pun, heartbroken when he "died". Axel was enjoying his "life" while he could.

    I agree with Sven.
Axel was sort of useless because his "emotions" always got in the way.
