    Just like my thing is that I hate everything. I don't know why this is my thing, it doesn't make any sense I clearly don't hate everything, but it's my thing. ( you haven't earned my heart. yet )

    Persona 4 is 20 on amazon, and the rest would be approx 20-40 dollars, minus the .hack//G.U. and given it's rarity/how expensive it is, I wouldn't buy it,. (Used on amazon are still ~40) Plus you'll never find it in a gamestop anyways.

    If you want something expensive, go for something new? A few weeks old.

    I have actually looked into that being a fan of Miyazaki, but alas, it's not at my local gamestop.

    Good thing I picked them up when I did then. ;D

    Well then I guess you can say I sold part of my soul to the devil then, thanks to power up rewards I'm going to save 25 bucks on my purchase of KH1.5 this coming Tuesday. =P

    Ah, I'm bitter, I'm sure plenty of people have had good experiences with them, and I used to go there, too. Then everything changed when the fire nation attacked causing gamestop to sell my preorder to someone else on launch day because they were there and had money that they could have right that second, rather than wait 2 hours for my money.

    A rather common occurrence, mind you.

    It has yet to have happened to myself or any of my friends, who've been shopping there for at least 6 years.

    I might be overly sympathetic to retail employees but I don't think that companies know how many units they'll be shipped when they start taking preorders, nor do I think that corporate really cares about their number of preorders when deciding shipment numbers. 1.5 will be my first Gamestop pre-order so we'll see how things go, but I imagine their preorder policy has something in their defense.

    For big things (like my PS4), though, I'm just ordering off of Amazon. Don't want to be shanked on my way from the store to my car.

    People have gotten stabbed around where I live during Black Friday too many times for me to not chickenshit this one. Let's be real, release day is going to be insane (especially because the Gamestop I go to is right next to a Best Buy and a PC Richards). I love video games but not enough to risk my life. ;c

    plus Amazon requires no money down

    You guys must have a good staff at your store. Unfortunately that's not usually the case. The ones out by me are pretty bad.

    I'm surprised, though, most people catch on to how terrible they are, I don't see a lot of folks defending them. But I suppose I can't tell you how to feel.

    Except this is the internet so I'm totally going to tell you how you should feel.

    But really, it's not about the way they rip people off when it comes to trade ins, it's not about the way they open the games, it's not really even about how they push all the ridiculous BS on you while you try to buy something. You're not obligated to do anything, what it is is the way they treat their employees, how they basically train their employees to be terrible people not by indoctrination, but by basically holding their jobs at ransom if they don't sell enough membership cards, preorders, or whatever else they decide to push.

    I understand that it's common practice in any business to fire a poor salesman, or shut down a store that isn't profitable, but there are limits to how high you can raise the bar for your employees.

    I heard stories about people getting new holes put in them over the PS3 release around my town. It's a pretty real danger.

    You don't have to tell me how bad the place is. One of my friends used to work there and constantly recommending people to go to other stores, and I have too.

    Oh, and I'm not at all defending their trade-in policy, or the whole "opening new games". $13 for something I just bought for $40 or so (making up a situation here)? Straight up stupid. Also got confused when I bought Bioshock Infinite "new" but got an opened case with a "Pre-Owned" sticker. But at the very least, the disc, case, and manual looked perfectly clean, which is most important to me.

    And yeah, I somehow have been lucky enough to have usually nice staff. Hell, I have full discussions about games with some of them, and they'll even talk about avoiding a few games.

    I'm simply putting out that, for my own purposes of walking to a store and buying a game at a lower price, or the genuinely neat specials, Gamestop aren't that bad. But that's all they're good for. The other stuff that I'm not affected by is bad, but unfortunately, I don't have a good alternative since I don't have a car or credit/debit card :\

    Hope that can sum up my thoughts on the store.

    I understand your point of view, I guess really the dissonance between us is in the whole way we're handling our experiences. I've had plenty of good neutral experiences with them in the past, and the store employees seemed like they would be decent human beings in any other context, I just can't imagine anyone on earth even somewhat defending them, or in the very least not explaining that they feel dirty giving them any money.

    In reality I don't hate them as much as I like to make a stink about them, it's just, this is the internet, and we're on a forum...so...you know gotta fluff the peacock feathers.

    Unfortunately, the mom and pop game stores are mostly all out of business, and even Play N Trades are more scarce than ever, so the reality is sometimes GameStop really IS your only option for a decent used game. It just pains my kokoro to think that, in the end, evil has won in this poorly narrated story that is retail game stores.

    Skyward Sword is easily the most story driven Zelda yet, and it does so without losing the sense of wonder and discovery (I swear, the second I hopped onto my bird-thing and had free reign, I felt like the world was mine to own and I hadn't even hit 5% of the game yet). SS is legit a best contender for "Miyazaki film in game form." Every moment is still about the adventure, and wandering from place to place and doing your own thing, but then there's the story which decides to origin EVERYTHING Zelda while just being a really cool take on the hero's journey, mostly due to Ghirahim but I will fair share to how useful every character turns out to be.

    Controls are frustrating at first, but I once read a tweet that put it in perspective for me.

    Remember that mall we discussed we had both been to? Yeah, around there on Black Friday there will be an army of police officers. Almost one for every three shoppers.

    In fact, in the mall I worked that that's not so far from there, you had to be escorted out by a police officer if you bought a Wii back when they came out in 2006.

    Because a large corporation that sells almost nothing but video games is horrible for the industry and is the root of all evil in the industry. Fantastic way of thinking, buddy.
