Ok, so I just bought a Gameshark v 1.3 yesterday. I started using it and it worked fairly well, but after a few hours it started working slower and slower and now It doesn't load the gameshark at all. It just makes a ticking noise when I try and load it up, it also says Please insert a playstation or playstation 2 format disc in or disc read error occassionally. I was just wondering if anybody else has had this problem and If anyone had any ideas on how to make my gameshark work. =/ Thanx In advance.

Please guys =// I could really use your help. =//

When I first read your post I thought it was because maybe you added to many codes and its just taking a long time, thats what my AR does. Also the ticking noise is because you didn't put the disk in all the way. The reason it can't read your disk is because ps2's suck at reading blue disks, and thats what it is. Right? But don't worry just keep turning your ps2 on and off until it reads it, sometimes you may have to just take it out and put it back in.

Your cd drive has more than likely failed.
Sony used very cheap cd lasers in the ps2.
This happened to me about a year back and my ps2 never played cd based software again.

    Your options are
    1) Buy swap magic coder (dvd format).
    2) Buy a new ps2.
    3) look into exploits.

Its not just your PS2, all PS2's (even brand new ones) cd drives will eventually fail if using cd based software.

Your not gonna find swap magic in a store, you have to buy it online.
    Although, modchipstore stopped selling them.
Google "Swap Magic 3.8 Coder" and try to find a site that still has some in stock.

Kewl, how exactly does the Swap Magic Coder work? And I noticed awhile back that DVD's wont play on my PS2 anymore either, which isn't really a big deal I have a DVD player in the living room so thats not a problem. Would It be a good idea to get a PS3 and taking my gaming to the next level?

Depending if you have a fat(phat) or slim ps2, you will need a flip top or a slide card with your swap magic.
    fat(phat) = slide card
    slim = fliptop

PS3 cannot play any cheat device.
Most nowadays also have no ps2 backwards compatibility.

By fliptop you mean the replacement top for your slim right?
Because im not talking about the casual top that all slims come with.
    No, they dont.

Oh woops, I guess i misunderstood, I just have the regular casual top for my ps2. =/ And I guess what I saw on gamestop.com wasn't a gameshark for ps3. But ps3's are capable of playing a PS2 gameshark(v. 1.3)? And I'm, sorry about all the questions I have, my PS2 just isn't exactly in the best condition so I do have alot of questions, but thank you for answering my questions as well ^-^

They can boot them up, but they will not work correctly.

    No problem...
