Jack Thompson needs to read this.

I've learned much from video games myself, actually. I would have known to do that, but he did it so perfectly. o.o Wow.

It's kinda hard to believe. but Wow anyway.

  4. While it amazes that he did so well, as in real life to what he learned in a game, America's Army medic training did serve as real life classes, and I guess that's one game that can save a person's life.

But is true, you can learn alot of things from games, even life lessons, and I hate when adults or people who look down at it think is a waste of time. I even learned words that I had to look in the vocabulary from Zelda games, and I even had to read somewhat in others to have some awareness on storylines, and figuring out clues myself.

Others who say video games are a waste of time... haven't even tried playing video games. Apparently jack thompson hasn't tried one.

Haha...I think? It made me chuckle a little.

I get a lot of ish (especially from people about work) about Kingdom Hearts, especially since I got my KH-inspired tattoo. "It's just a video game!" Eek. Yes, it is, it's not real. But it's given me something to draw inspiration from and something to smile about (which is always a chore for me) so they can stick that up....places where things were never meant to be stuck.

I think it's what you make of it...and in this case, it freaking helped. People, in my oh so humble opinon, just need to be a bit more accepting and stop talking about things they don't understand. :)

Edit: And while I think there are times when it needs to be shut off (everything should be taken in moderation) I think it's time for personal responbility to take over and people to own up to their own actions.

I knew video-games could teach you something. Not all video-games are violent and that's wat people need to understand. You can actually learn a lot from a couple of good games. I've played games that have been based on problem-solving and with vocabulary I never knew existed. The only people that should be people that should be putting video-games are the people that play them.

and a Keyblade War will begin! XD

wow, how log has it taken for people to figure that out?
anything you learn from games or TV is usaully close to real life, while others are fiction. Its hard to differ the 2 sometimes.

i'll agree that this was a tragedy that was averted, but I don't believe that being able to rescue someone from a burning car is necessarily something one learns while playing video games. How many people can attest to being rescued by people that just did what had to be done and had little to no video game background? It's kind of a survival instinct in my opinion, but if he wants to say the video game trained him to save these people, then go him.

If the guy had been able to cast a healing spell on the other hand, then I would either say that video games played a big role....or the Salem Witch Trials are going to start all over again.

That's pretty neat. I mean they do use video games in the army to train.

Psh, burning or not moving them from the car right off the bat could've made things so much worse. It's admirable but not a real victory in terms of a video game sense.

I read this article a couple of weeks ago. I was so amazed. It goes to show you that video games can be productive and useful in life. My dad still doesn't believe me though, even after I showed him the article.

It's a cool artical, shows alot of people thier not completely right *sticks tongue out at people who say you can't learn anything from videogames* not all can teach you stuff but I did learn about discrimination and all that 2 years before I actually even heard the teached talking about it in school O_o all from one little video game. Plus the good ones that can teach you problem solving, new words, and other things. I have learned quite a few interesting words from games.

There is the down side to them like the bloody violent ones with just killing, but if kids take that seriouldy and think they can do that, it's not just the game, there is something serioulsy wrong with them.
