Only one character in Days? What about the EIGHTEEN other characters to play as, Sora included?
Re:Coded focused just on Sora, yes... and it;s widely regarded as one of the best KH games in terms of gameplay
(Though you do play as Hercules and Cloud briefly, and control Donald and Goofy in a weird way)

You didn't exactly play as those other characters through the story in Days. And I'm not quite sure playing as Hercules and Cloud in one world quite counts.

Not playing on the story means LITERALLY nothing
And it doesn't matter how briefly you play as a character, it still takes just as many resources. That's why Mickey and Riku had such limtied move pools in KH2 (BTW, there goes your comment about KH2 being a game where you only play as Sora, even excluding Roxas who is just a reskinned Chain of Memories Sora)

Riku was what, maybe 10 seconds? And you know, I've gotten KO'ed quite a few times in KHII, and I have never, ever gotten the option to play as mickey for some reason. But ok, I guess I forgot Roxas, but you still play a majority of the story with Sora. The point still stands that it wouldn't kill anyone to get another game where you play with more than one character through a main story or the main story in separate parts.

You know, I honestly didn't like Re:Coded's gameplay. I don't know why, but a lot of it just really bugged me out. In fact, once I beat it, I basically never wanted to play again

Yeah, Mickey only turns up on certain boss battles if you die:
    • Shang-Yu
    • Thresholder and Possessor
    • Shadow Stalker/Dark Thorn
    • Cerberus
    • The Hydra
    • Volcanic and Blizzard Lord
    • Storm Rider
    • Xaldin
    • Grim Reaper (first battle)
    • Xemnas (armour)

And it comes up as an option on the game over screen as "I won't give up" and the likelihood of it appearing depends on how many times you've been KO'd in the past:
    • If it's your first KO= 100%
    • Second KO= 80%
    • Third KO= 64%
    • Fourth+ KO= 50%
So it's firstly not something guaranteed to happen in every game and Roxas is only a short time span. I just like the idea of having a story split up and you have to play the different versions in order to get the whole picture like in BBS, the drop gauge was more annoying but I didn't mind is as much and I can't even remember what the Coded gameplay was like, I never finished that game.

There was only one instance where the drop gauge was a problem and that was with bosses. Never had any real problems with it. I also liked the fact I didn't need individual save files for my characters.

For the most part I only ever got mickey in the Xaldin battle at first because thats where I most often died I wouldn't mind the same feature in KH3 but the king will be with riku i believe.

That was easily fixed though if you just used that item that restored your drop gauge just before boss fights. IN fact, I had so many, I never ran out of them. True, your gauge would still drop just as fast because you can't stop the speed going up, but having a full gauge can still be useful.

unless you play as sora for a while you can't stop your drop gauge but if you play as one for a while and get enough points you can increase the duruation for your other characters drop gauge

I'm not saying you can stop it, but you do know that even if you decrease the speed of the drop gauge, it'll speed up the more hits you take right? The point of the items I mentioned was that if you wanted to stay as Sora or Riku for a while long, just to get items or finish up a world, you can use that said item to fill up your gauge enough to finish up the fight and be done with it.

I never had a problem though. I was happy just to switch characters. I'd just be annoyed if they had multiple characters that REQUIRED multiple saves. That was my only problem with BBS, other than the lag that game had at certain points.

I never had lags to be honest. Data installation was what helped me though with that because I bought my psp for bbs. but atleast we' won't have to do that with BBS in 2.5. and same I'm happy too we could switch characters I don't know why it seems like a negative thing to have atleast just riku playable alongside Sora but to each their own

The worst thing about the drop gauge was when the game forced a character to drop and you didn't accrue any DP so you can afford any stat buffs

Why? It's not like you needed any of those buffs, it almost felt like a handicap most of the time. Only time I can think I actually needed them was with the secret boss who's name escapes me because i don't want to remember the horror of facing him....not too mention the cheapness.

Having a sudden drastic power decrease is never fun
Especially since this happens right at the end where there's an insane difficulty spike
To be fair, I was very under leveled, and on Proud Mode, but this sort of thing shouldn't happen

For the most part on proud anyways you should grind while you have the motivation to at the start of the game then later it levels out in difficulty as long as you have the right equips.

There was a difficulty spike at the end? I never noticed, I just played through and beat the bosses like normal. I guess Red Eyes was annoying because of the speed of his attacks, but that's about it

KH ga,es always have difficulty spikes at the end, but I'm used to them being smoother than this. KH1 and KH2 both throw tonnes of EXP rich enemeis at you by the end, for example, but wtih DDD, the generic enemies are WAY harder than any of the actual end bosses
Red Eyes is dirt simple. I'm talking about the generic enemies. And Ansem
