Gambling

I heard that gambling is wrong and such since it was adicting, but I saw it alot of times on game ratings that contain all the bad stuff a videogame would have. But I've been wondering what the real reson it's so bad. Anyone have any answers?

 

The real reason is because people get so obsessed with the idea of money that they will bet ALL of their money...and usually they'll lose all of it and go broke. It's sad, but I really don't feel sympathetic for them since it's their fault.

Anyway, I agree with Blivvy. The main reason is because people tend to bet all their money if they feel like that 'this is the big one!' or 'this is going to be the winner' or something like that. It's their own fault really.

 

i agree with Oblivion, it is how you get broke and that lets to other stuff which is bad, very bad...

 

I think it's fine if you know when to stop. One of my cousins went gambling and got 50 bucks. One of my other cousins was up 80, gat cocky, and left down 100.

 

I believe it's just wrong to gamble but I see what you mean. Yes it's okay to go and be smart and know when to leave so you don't go broke. That is not gambling. Staying and possibly losing your life savings then taking out a loan to gamble some more is well I already said it in this sentence, gambling.

when you lost your money leave it at that and leave. Don't bet any more! If you can't handle addictions...don't go to a casino period....common sense.

Gambling itself isn't wrong, it is the reason the people are gambling that is wrong. >_> Hell, it's their own fault if they risk everything and lose. They were willing to abandon whatever they bet on and failed. Man, I may be sounding like the Devil himself, but they deserve it.

Yeah gambling isn't what is wrong, it's the people who don't know where to stop who let themselves get so consumed by the desire to win that they risk everything. It's all very well blaming it on the gambling but as with anything, if you take the risk you need to be able to accept the consequences. Pfft if they lose it all or get hooked it's their own fault.

 

Well here's the thing: gambling itself is not wrong, and the idea of gambling is not wrong. It's the idea of creating addictive games that get people hooked just to get money IS wrong. They should just create fun games. But some casinos very well do try to put addicting games into their buildings just to get everyone's money. Now the whole concept of gambling came from people trying to win money from other people. That's exactly what casinos are.....buildings made by people just so they can get other people's money. It's all about the money.

So you can actually look at it two different ways: Creating different ways for people to gamble their money for FUN is not wrong. Creating different ways for people to get addicted to games just for their money IS wrong... It's the IDEA of trying to figure out ways to get peoples money that is wrong. It's pretty much how you think of it. This can actually turn into a very good debate. We should put this in the debate section. "Is Gambling wrong?" lol can anyone tell I'm bored?

 

Welll technicly there is nothing wrong with gambling, although many times I have heard that it is against religion or such. The thing is that it is addicting like crazy and people can not figure out when to walk away or not. I myself on my 18th birthday lost alot of money at a casino because of gambling, I lost about 150 dollars. Alot of the time you just feel unstoppable. So acutally in essence there is nothing wrong with it, any problems that arise out of it, I feel are the peoples fault for not being able to make a judgment call and say enough is enough and walk away from the handle or the table.

 

You don't sound like the devil...you sound like a person that's speaking the truth.

It is their fault that they lose everything, but overall it's not the casino's fault. The casino is there to make money, sure, but a person should know when to stop.

 

Yes it's their fault but I think it's sad when people throw away their lives.

That's like telling a person addicted to meth to just stop. Addictions aren't just something that you can just be like I'm doing it anymore. And if you do that there are terrible side affects of withdrawal.
