Fullmetal Alchemist: The Midnight Eclipse

Xioimara growled at Ling and suddenly lashed forward, slapping the food out of his hand with her paw. She looked at it with distaste and stepped over it. "I'm a wolf, asshole. Not a dog." Xioimara brushed past him and continued towards the shop. It didn't take long at all to get there. They were only about two blocks from it, so it seemed. She felt her stomach growl at her but ignored it. The moon was helping her push through the night.

Armstrong ignored Ling's taunts. If Ling got bit, it would only be his own fault. Armstrong was relieved to see that she ignored him after getting rid of the food. Armstrong knocked on the door and waited patiently at the doorstep.

Mr. Sig left the room to go answer the door for the group. He had been expecting them for a little while. Mr. Sig let them into the room.

Xioimara peered into Al's hollow body from the entrance of the room. It intrigued her but she decided it would be best if they remained quiet until they were done talking.

Alphonse looked from his brother back to Teacher. After some hesitation, he took off the helmet of his body. "I lost my body when we tried to bring out mother back." He admitted, showing Teacher his hollowed body.

The keeper handed a key to the two of them.

"One for myself too, please." Lust asked the owner.

He stared at Lust for a moment or two and handed her a key as well.

 

Ed had never looked more ashamed. He took off his jacket and rolled up his sleeve. He rolled up the leg of his pants. "I lost my right arm and my left leg." he told Teacher. "The leg was from bringing mom back and the arm was from binding Al's soul to his armor..."
Izumi stared. "I'm very disappointed in the two of you! What possessed you to try Human Transmutation!?" she yelled loudly at them.

 

Xioimara pinned her ears back as Izumi reprimanded the two. Her voice was like getting stabbed in the ears with shards of glass. The wolf felt a little shaken from the power that this woman had. Something was different about her. Xioimara respected and favored it.

"We just missed our mother!" Alphonse cried back at Teacher, out of fear. "We thought we could bring her back."

Armstrong could tell they had obviously come at the wrong time. "We should leave." Armstrong whispered to Xioimara, as well as Ling.

 

Ed looked at Teacher. "Teacher, don't yell at Al. I talked him into doing the Transmutation with me... It's all my fault." he said.
"Well getting parts of your bodies taken away serves you right. Just like when it happened to me..." Teacher said.

"Aw cmon! I wanna see them get yelled at some more!" Ling said.

 

Xioimara shot a look at Ling. She was quick to shut him up. Despite her shortness, she managed to cover her mouth. She wanted to break his neck for attracting much un-needed attention on them. They were a lot more involved in this sensitive conversation than they needed to be. 'At least they know we're here, I guess.'. "You stupid moron," Xioimara muttered as she pulled her hand away from Ling's mouth. Xioimara threw her head towards the door. 'Stupid prince.' Xioimara started towards the door with Armstrong. She looked back to make sure the idiot prince was following.'

Alphonse looked over at Xioimara, Armstrong and Ling as the Prince loudly proclaimed that he wanted to hear their life story. Alphonse watched as Xioimara seized Ling from talking in a flash, once they started heading towards the door Alphonse spoke up again. "Teacher," He started. The subject was becoming very touchy. He at least wanted to wait for the group to leave before Teacher continued with her story on Human Transmutations.

 

Before he left, Ling gave the Elrics some encouragement. "Don't die." he said. He followed Armstrong and Xioimara.
"As advanced that type of Transmutation is, and as proud as I am for my students being able tolive through that..." Teacher started.
Yes! We're in the clearing!" Ed thought.
"I can not accept the choice you made. You two are expelled from being my students." Teacher said. "Sig, please take them back to their hotel will you?" she asked.

 

Alphonse stared at Izumi as she expelled them as students. "B-but, Teacher..." He started, as the two were escourted out of the house by Mr. Sig.

Xioimara sat outside the house as she waited on the Elrics. Armstrong had headed back to the Hotel. She had decided to wait for them so she could show them the way back. "Done already?" She asked as the door open and the Elric brothers, along with Mr. Sig filed out. Something didn't seem right about all this. Xioimara remained quiet.

Mr. Sig nodded and led the boys out of their place. He glanced at the Wild Wolf of the East as she remained seated on the threshold of the house. "I trust you can lead these two back safely?"

The wolf simply wagged her tail and gave a small whine at Mr. Sigs question. She stood up and looked at Al and Ed.

 

"Sig, wait! If Teacher has expelled us, that means we can talk to her as equals right? I mean, we aren't lower than her anymore so she may be able to help us! ... Right?" he said.

"You think they'll be okay Major Armstrong?" Ling asked. He liked Ed and Al and didn't want them dead.

Charlie had ditched Xoram and he had just made it to Dublith. "That no good..." He started to say.

"Of course. You guys can become friends now." Sig said as he headed back into the house.

Xioimara waited patiently on the Elrics. In the meantime, she busied herself with catching scents in the air. There weren't any familiar scents except the group and the ever present smell of danger that had been stalking the group. It smelled human and then the other half of it just smelled horrid. 'Probably nothing.'

Alphonse was glad that they could be friends with Teacher Izumi now, but it was such a huge change and it happened so fast, he was befuddled with emotions. "Thank you, Mr. Sig." Alphonse said.

"Xioimara would let us know if they were in danger. Her howl can be heard up to three miles away and we are less than a half-mile away from each other. There's no need to worry." Armstrong told Ling as they neared the front of the hotel.

Lust watched The StrongArm Alchemist and the Prince of Xing approach the hotel from the shadows. 'He wouldn't be as cocky as to leave those three alone at night...' Lust took note of their conversation.

 

"What's going on Lust?" Juliet asked.

"Come on Al! We're gonna go talk to Teacher again. Wait here Xioimara." Ed said as he ran back to the house.

"Meh, I guess your right." Ling replied.

 

The red wolf sighed as the two went back inside. She plopped down and crossed her paws, resting her head on her paws. 'I just want to sleep.' Xioimara decided. She felt her stomach growl at her but just ignored it this time. Xioimara's ears perked up and she closed her eyes, being aware of just scents and sounds.

Lust waited until Armstrong and Ling were out of sight and sound to talk. "We need to take care of the Elric's company." Lust announced to Juliet. She still whispered as to not attract any attention. "The Wolf will be easy if we get her before she gets her strength back." She talked outloud partly to herself and Juliet as well. "What do you think?"

"There's nothing to worry about." Armstrong said to the Prince. "They'll be fine." Armstrong unlocked the door to his room and entered.

Alphonse looked at his brother as thoughts emerged into Ed's brain. Alphonse followed after his brother hurriedly. He wondered what his brother had up his sleeve and whether Teac-Izumi would appreciate it.

 

Ed barged into the kitchen with his brother following close behind. "Teacher!" he said. Suddenly, a knife flew towards him. "AAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!" he screamed as he barely avoided it.
"HOW DARE YOU SHOW YOUR FACES HERE AGAIN!" Izumi said. "WHO ARE YOU CALLING 'TEACHER'!? I DON'T CONSIDER YOU STUDENTS ANYMORE!" she yelled.

"Right." Ling said as he entered his own room.

 

"I'm going to attack the Wolf tonight," Lust decided. "Then we'll pick off the Prince and eventually Strong Arm Alchemist." Lust said. "Sound good?"

Alphonse jumped to the side, avoiding the knife as well. He was terrified at how much power this woman had. "Izumi! Please listen to what Ed has to say!" Alphonse cried, shaking.

Xioimara lifted up her head at the sound of screaming. 'Pussy cat.' Xioimara huffed and put her head back down.

 

Juliet smiled. "Of course."

"...Fine but I want Alphonse to explain." she said.

 

Alphonse found himself helpless and confused. He felt like he was staring at a lioness ready to pounce on him. "I-I... Brother, he, didn't t-tell me?" Alphonse stammered. He looked over at Edward for help of where this conversation needed to be headed.

"We'll attack once they're asleep. They'll be too tired and off-guard to react." Lust assumed and found herself smiling.

 

"You mean you don't know your own backstory?" Izumi asked.

"Ok. Wake me when it's time." she said.

 

Alphonse paused for a moment before speaking. There was so much going through his mind it was a little overwhelming. 'Which story? What we've been doing up till now or the night I lost my body? Why did I drag myself into this?' Alphonse decided to go with the night that he lost his body, since that's what they had been doing up until they were expelled.

"We just wanted our mother back..." He muttered. This was too much to be processed at one moment for him.

"Of course." Lust headed past the hotel to go see what the Elric brothers were up to. They were taking a little longer than expected. Lust stayed in the depths of darkness as she came around the bend to the house that Izumi and Sig lived at. The only sight around was The Wild Wolf of the East. She was such an easy target at the moment. 'Maybe we should just attack now... No, we don't know when the Elric brothers will come back outside...'

 

While Al talked to Teacher, Ed stepped outside. He noticed someone in the darkness "Who's there!?" he asked.
Izumi paid no attention as Ed got up. "Take your time Alphonse." she said gently.

 

Alphonse watched as his brother left and then continued after some hesitation. "We studied for months and then we got her ashes and tried to bring her back..." Alphonse started. "I don't remember anything up until I was in this body... Brother says he saw a door. Now he can do alchemy without a transmutation circle."

Xioimara's eyes opened. Edward startled her. She had heard him coming but didn't expect him to shout. She growled and sat up. "I didn't catch anything." Xioimara commented. If there was someone they had somehow managed to be downwind of her and soundless. Xioimara stood up and stared into the darkness for any movement. She did catch a ripple in the darkness. Xioimara growled and lunged forward. She found herself pouncing on nothing. "It's just the darkness. We're tired." Xioimara said to Ed. She stared at her paws. Xioimara searched the night for any sounds but heard nothing.

'My eyes never decieve me at night though...' Xioimara looked up at the moon.

Lust moved out of range of Edward and Xioimara quickly once Edward had caught sight of her. She barely made her way past Xioimara once the wolf had decided to pounce. Lust ran from the sight and decided she was becoming too cocky. She would just have to wait.

 

"Yeah.. probably." Ed said. "We're gonna be a while so watch yourself ok?" he said as he wnt back inside.

"Alchemy without a circle..." Izumi said. She saw Edward come back in. "You, alchemy. Now. No circle." she said.
Ed did as Teacher said. He made some grass he was carrying into bread.
"I see." she said."Can you do that as well Alphonse?" she asked the younger Elric brother.
