Also Varnor is right about the pocket watch, it doesn't really affect alchemy in a big way. If you only watched the first episode watch all 51 episodes and also the movie which takes place after the series. :/

Beredor was walking around town into he found a place to eat. he sat down outside studying the different maps. while he was eating

 

After putting up his guitar he slowly walked around. He found a place to eat and sat down next to someone else.

 

"How hard is it to get to the central"Beredor said frustrated

 

Damien turned his head. "Your trying to get to central?" He thought about it. maybe he is an alchemist too
