    Nope, In fact the beginings of both are exactly the same, just brotherhood rushes things through and then gets to the climaxing parts whereas the first anime takes its time telling the origin. I reccomend watching both sometime though :D

    Actually Brotherhood is a full adaptation of the manga while the first anime diverged from the manga after a certain point in the series due to there being no more source material to adapt at the time.
