From the Ashes: The Fight for Utopia

"Of course," a voice said that seemed to come from the mirror. Instead of Skylight's reflection, an image of the Void King seemed to expand onto the mirror.

 

SkyLight looked at it, showing to suprise. "The Void King. Now why are you on My Destiny?"

 

"I have a preposition," the Void King began. He let out a hearty laugh and smiled at SkyLight. "One that could shape your destiny, and quite a few others if you answer correctly."

 

SkyLight smirked. "Go on... I like a challenge after about 10 years alone in this place."

 

"Become part of my heralds. My rule. You will not only be freeing yourself from this pity excuse of existance... you will save yourself from your own limitations. Become a part of the abyss, and you could have a destiny like no other." The Void King said this in tones without emotion.

 

SkyLight thought for awhile. Shaking her wings, she brought them back in. "Destiny like no other huh? How would I be useful to you then?"

 

"You would be more use then he was," the Void King said. He was reffering to the creature she had defeated. "If he could serve me that long, imagine how long you could serve me."

 

SkyLight thought. "Fine. I'll join. Through the circle?" She looked back at the circle that had changed her.

 

"Yes." The Void King was actually happy, that was rare in itself. He was also suprised, another rare thing. Even in his wildest dreams he thought it would of taken longer to get someone. Ah, well. It was better to underestimate his abilities then overestimate.

 

SkyLight tied the shard around her neck and jumped into the circle. Instead of the darkness shutting her body down, it helped her, moving her along to her destination.

 

At the end of the darkness lied a small glowing fortress that somehow instead of brightening the place darkend it. There the Void King awaited, and he stood outside to greet her. Not knowing if she'd hear him, he said, "Welcome to the Abyss."

 

SkyLight floated down to him and landed next him. "Glad to be here sire." She bowed to him.

 

"It is good to have someone new here. Would you like your first assignment?" the Void King was not a very social person at times, and perhaps that time was coming soon. He did not know what they would call it.

This could proove to be amusing, though. She had guts, and that was good. The test he had provided had been simple, though. Perhaps he should have... No, what was done was done.

 

SkyLight straightened up and looked at The Void King. "Sure..." She smiled slightly. "Its nice to talk to someone after years of being alone. I just have one question."

 

"What?" the Void King asked. It might be nice to be asked a question after so many years. No one had questioned his authority since he had begun his rule, and he kind of missed it. Maybe they had. He could tune some things out, but he wasn't that cruel. Was he?

 

SkyLight looked at his back. "Where're your wings?" She unfurled hers from her back, streching them out.

 

"I fly on the wings of eternity," the Void King said. It might sound stupid given the situation, but then again he had few social skills. Besides, if she was busy pondering on the meaning of that she'd be to busy to wonder about anything else. That was for the better, wasn't it?

 

SkyLight thought for awhile. She got what he meant and then nodded. "Whats my assignment?"

 

"To help us establish order. Only when all is one and one is none will there be complete order," the King replied. He turned his head to Abyss and looked at it. A lifetime of work, and still there was more to be done.

 

SkyLight blinked, confused. "Help you regain order?"
