I like the idea, but I could never even consider trying out such a relationship. I feel like I'd screw it up by falling in love. I do that more easily than I once thought.

Are you sure you are doing alright? You seem to be contradicting yourself at the least.

You say you do not see each other often, but that you put in the effort if you really need it. For one, effort should not be involved if it is casual, and the way you say that makes it sound like you are rationalizing. Who sees who? Does he really come around when you think you need it?

You said a few things in quick succession.

It is friends with benefits,
It is more complicated than that,
But just convince yourself and it's okay.

Is that stable? If you are easy and casual about it, then why do you need to convince yourself?

I'm not saying that it can't work or even implying that, but it sounds like you have some issues already. Your post is full of emotional high and lows, and those shouldn't be involved in a post about a friends with benefits relationship. You use a lot of emotional words like amazing, need, complicated, help and convince. Why don't you sound calm and serene if things are peachy?
