Forgotten Insanity

"It has it's moments of being really enjoyable" Allen said trying to make the ride less uncomfortable as possible. I'll wait until we reach the suface to put it on. He thought almost forgeting he had brought his hidden blade with him.

Kiki frowned when she heard Alice's reply, and stared at the comlink for a moment. She was use to going on missions alone if something came up, but this was different. She was going into new territory, and unlike the new terrorities she explored in the past, she felt a sense of dread forming inside her. She was about to pressed the button on the comlink to check on Hawkeye and get a status on him, but then she felt several presences nearby... Kiki saw they hadn't noticed her yet, but if she spoke out loud, maybe her cover would be blown. She couldn't risk that... she didn't know what these creatures were like.

As Kiki kept in close radius to Daemon, she noticed that the buildings around her were in better shape than the ones back in ghoul territory... which was suspicious. The girl felt goosebumps travel up her arms and down her back, causing her to shiver as she silently and quickly moved through the shadows after the little girl. Where was she going exactly?

Kiki noticed she was taking in deeper breaths too as she moved in closer into this strange land. The air was getting more dense... and very cold. She couldn't stop to get her jacket out though, she had to keep moving. She would loose her target if she stopped for a second, and that would be a disaster. But as she was following the girl... she sensed something sinister up ahead... Kiki couldn't tell what it was, it was like her sixth sense was becoming more muddled with each step she took. She still had a grip on Daemon, but it was getting thinner and thinner by the second. Should she just give up and turn around? This wasn't looking so great...

 

ooc - warning: no one will be able to save Kiki~ Tis for plot reasons.

A woman had appeared before Kiki and Daemon's presence would all but vanish. And this woman would smile as that happened, her long black hair blowing in a breeze which she had created.

The air around them would grow even colder, to freezing point even, and the strong scent of blood drifted about her.

"It is rather...sad that you had to come this far. Sad...and unlucky." Before she had even finished her sentence a mist of black appeared behind her and shot out towards Kiki, encasing her in darkness. And then this same mist would encase the woman, causing both of them to vanish from the city.

If Kiki was able to see she would see a cave around her once the mist cleared up. But that mist would then turn into solid strands of darkness, wrapping around Kiki's limps, binding her so she would not be able to flee and lifting her into the air.

"This city... Please, tell me all about it."

Angelique nodded, noticing how they were all trying to 'Break The Ice'. "Ya guys know what your doing up there?" she inquired, quite curious. She had hardly been up on the surface, few times to train some, but never to find some who needed help; and she never saw anyone in need of help. Even more, she wanted company, she didn't like to be alone in scary places, especially the surface- which was fearful!- so perhaps this was her chance, fate was looking on at her. ​

Kiki was shivering like a leaf before she caught the scent of blood in the air. Now it was time to turn around and leave, right now. Hawkeye hadn't responded, Alice wasn't here to help her, and she knew that this was an unsafe place to be alone. This wasn't the part of the surface everyone was so familiar of in the beginning; it was dark and sinister...

Kiki suddenly felt something press against her body, suffocating her and cutting off her scream as she was suddenly consumed in a vapor of darkness. Where did it come from? How was she not able to sense it?!

Kiki gasped for air as the dark midst faded around, and then she felt something tighten against her arms, legs, torso, everything that could move. Her hair hung in a messy matter in front of her face, but she couldn't move it out of the way. The girl breathed in and out unsteadily, confused with what was happening, but knew that she was in danger. She struggled against the dark bands, twisting her body around to try to get loose, but she couldn't. Kiki was trapped in some sort of cave... who knew where right now. How far was she away from everyone? How long would it take them to figure it out? Under the thin curtain of her hair, her eyes glanced up to her left wrist. The comlink... it was still attached to her. Made some way she could get her message across... Send the warning. Would it reach them? She would have to try.

The girl looked towards the voice, and could help but to notice that her heart was pounding in her chest. She was scared, but she wasn't going to show this... whatever it was what her true feelings were. 'Gotta create a distraction,' as her mind remembered her plan from earlier. She began to move her body around as though she was trying to adjust to the dark bands around her limbs, and then tossed her head to move her hair to the side, meanwhile pressing her finger against the green button. She just pulled a magician move, making sure that the woman focused on the movements of her head, not her fingers. 'Please get it,' she pleaded in her mind. 'Please...'

Kiki then relaxed against the bands, finding it completely and totally useless (or that was the show she was putting on for her kidnapper) to break free. Hearing what the voice demanded, Kiki let out a half-heart chuckle. "Seriously? You think I would tell you where I came from? If this is how you treat unwelcomed guests, why would I be so inclined to give you the information you seek." Her eyes looked bravely to the direction where the voice came from as she tried to put on a face of courage. "Who are you?"

 

Ɣ_ɧᶏᶭᶄᶓӌᶓ_Ɣ

Why wasn't his Commlink working? This wasn't normal at all. He repeatedly pressed buttons, the green and the red, thinking he was doing something wrong. "Stupid thing...it's not working..." He murmured quietly, fiddling with it and not watching Kiki as a result, however; this was a mistake he would soon regret. As if disturbed by some kind of unknown technology, it suddenly surged back to life. Unbeknownst to him, there was a reason for that device failing him. "Stupid...stupid thing." He cursed with a stutter, as if Kiki could be listening somehow. He brought his sniper rifle to his eye and realized he couldn't find her. He looked back to his Comlink with a pounding heart, his breathing starting to get hard and ragged. "Kiki!" He practically screamed into it, hitting the button with shaking hands and bringing his quivering sniper rifle up to his face. He looked around frantically for her, his throat starting to burn as if he breathed in mustard gas. He was going to go inform them. He had to. He had to. "Kiki? Please..." He whispered into the Comlink, holding down the button for recieving messages and putting his ear to it, just praying that she'd send another plea out. He couldn't tell where she was through the tracker; she'd ventured where his rifle couldn't reach. The warnings were coming in and he couldn't see anything. He bit his lip, beginning to crack under the pressure he'd never experienced before.

 

[ooc - need something for the others to do. They could find Alice on the surface who is mostly passed out. Run into Hawkeye or even some Ghouls and/or demons. And underground... If you have any ideas for happening underground post in the ooc thread please.]

Mother watched the girl struggle with a wicked grin, and suddenly more demons appeared around her. They were human like just like her, but then even more appeared which seemed to be humans with red skin that was dripping with blood.

All were ready to attack Kiki, but with a wave of her hand they suddenly all went back, ceasing all movements.

There...They will only attack her if I say so now.

"You're so brave to deny me my request." She said, still smiling. And then suddenly the bonds pulled on Kiki, straining the joints and threatening to pull her apart, though no such thing would happen. "As for my name... Well, everyone just calls me Mother around here."

Kiki heard the scuttles around her, the growling, and the heavy breathing coming in all directions. She made the mistake to look. Her eyes widen when she saw the state these "demons" were in and her mouth fell open in shock. She looked at all of them, saw the qualties they all possessed... and since it was her natural gift, the images burned in her mind already creating a file for them in her computer brain. She had to get this information back to Kyle!

That is... if she lived through this.

Kiki suddenly felt the bands tighten around her joints and gasped as she looked up at one of them. They were starting to pull apart from each other, very gradually... That was when she started to feel the strains on her muscles; Kiki realized what kind of predicament she was in. Kiki clentched her hands into fists and shut her eyes tightly as she felt the muscles starting to strain. Prespiration was starting to gather on her forehead as she tried to resist the urge to scream.

"Kiki!"

Kiki's looked up slightly as she forced her eyes to open. That was Hawkeye's voice... but it was mechanical... fizzled.

She connected with him just for a bit. But where she was at now, her mind told her this was the end. It was too late now for someone to come and save her.

"See you... later... " Kiki managed with a pained smile. "I'm... sorry..." Her finger finally slipped from the green button, unable to keep it up. She wished she could've said more, something more memorable. She could die here for all she knew, never see Alice or Hawkeye ever again. Her mind was fading out, she was starting to loose focus. The girl's body was starting to shake, getting tired of straining against the pain. It felt like her limbs were starting to split and fall apart any second now. And maybe that's what was happening... She couldn't say for herself.

Welcome to the unground city, munchkins," Kyle said with forced enthusiasm while extending his arms out to either side of him to try to create a positive effect. "Home to all running from the ghouls..." Then he muttered the last part under his breath, "Prisoner to the dreamers..." Kyle coughed into his mechanical fist and then turned to face his "tourists". They were his responsibilty for the time being today, which made him on edge, especially since he wouldn't be in the control room to monitor Kiki and her group's progress based on the Comlinks... If they even worked out on the field. But he had these kids to focus on. They were barely teenagers, well the girl anyways. She seemed younger than the boy, but more outgoing. The engineer and inventor examined both of them like he was examining a new tool for a few uncomfortable moments... and then slowly smile at them.

"I guess you two will have to do," he said while lowering his hand to hang by his side. "Come along, we have so much to cover in so little time. Although... You already saw most of it." Kyle turned and pointed to the North to the huge monochrome buildings. "See that? Those are the science labs. That's where your food is made, your clothes, everything that you have in this world. I would take you to see them, but we're not allowed inside. Top secret things..." The older man sighed and then started to walk the opposite direction. "I'll take you to the job district so you all can get a taste of each job so you can get an idea of what to choose when the time comes."

Skye shuddered as the the man turned away. "He creeps me out a little," she said to Shino, moving closer over to him just in case something happened. Her shoulder touched with his as they walked, a habit she formed while she was on the surface with him, as she looked around the city. "It's so different..." she whispered to Shino, and then smiled when she saw a group of children run past her while playing with a ball. That was something new to her, but she liked it. Everyone had a smile on their face... everyone was happy here.

 

Ɣ_ɧᶏᶭᶄᶓӌᶓ_Ɣ

A huge sigh of relief echoed through his form, his body shivering in just...happiness as she talked to him on the Comlink. When the static cleared, he expected to hear a frantic, half-chuckled apology. She had to have been distracted, maybe she tripped and hit the warning button by accident or something just scared her and it was nothing. When he didn't hear anything he felt a cold void in his stomach and he leaned a bit closer, turning the volume up. What he heard, ironically, was indeed an apology, though it wasn't one that he /wanted/ to hear. "Kiki, what do you mean, I..." He whispered into it, then pressed the button again and again as he last connection. He tried finding her again through his scope, though only saw a ghoul staggering towards where her position was, behind a large outcrop. He shot it for good measure, though missed. His hands were shaking terribly as he fell back from his gun, his entire body quivering in denial. "No, she couldn't, she's....just playing with us..." He whispered, feeling like throwing up. He slung his weapon across his back and swiftly descended the building, running down flights of stairs and falling at the last step in his hurry; with a throbbing shoulder he began sprinting back to the elevator that led down into the city. Who could he tell? He had no idea! He had failed in his job as an Assassin, he hadn't protected her like he was supposed to. It was all his fault if she...if she... No, he couldn't think about it. He entered the elevator down as soon as he could, wishing it would move faster. He had to tell someone about what had happened. Kiki was gone.

"Well I'm just to look around when we get their." Allen said as the elevator came to a stop. The doors opened and revealed the surface. "I guess we should get going." He said exiting the elevator.

 

ooc - nothing too detailed, but there is crushing bones in this post. Next will probably a bit worse but I tried to keep that down the best I can. .-. putting bone crushing in brackets.

Noticed Kiki talking, but she wasn't sure to whom she spoke to as she had missed the pressing of the comlink and Hawkeye's voice. Nonetheless, she hardly cared. Perhaps the girl was merely uttering her last words to some God she believed in.

What a silly child...

[Mother thought as the black strands crushed Kiki's legs, no doubly breaking the bones in them, while also starching at the skin.]

"What if we were to trade information? You tell me about that city and I will tell you how Ghouls are made. That's fair enough, is it not?"

She didn't mind telling the girl this, she planned on killing her anyway. So in the end only she would win.

Shino​

Shino listened to the man, looking towards the buildings he pointed out and following him closely. And when Skye came close to him he would then look down shyly, wondering just why would she rely on him to protect her when she was the stronger one of the two... He would then look back up, towards Kyle. "I-Is there a spot open for a researcher?"

Kiki hung there, keeping her eyes shut as she waited for the Mother to do something to her. This wasn't good at all... She was looking for that little girl, and this is where she ended up? Where did Jacklyn even find her?

But she didn't have time to think about it.

Spoiler: the after effects of the bone crushing

Kiki suddenly felt her legs being crushed by the dark bonds that held her captive, and squeezed her eyes tightly together. She heard and felt something cracking and then heard an earsplitting cry of pain escape her lips. Kiki clutched her eyes tightly together, wanting this to be over. She could feel her legs starting to throb, and the pain shooting up her into her body.

Through the fog in her mind, she heard the woman's voice speaking to her. Information exchange...? How the ghouls came to be? But if she told about the city, everyone would be in danger. She didn't think the Mother would spare her anyways, her legs were already broken. She was planning on getting rid of her. "No... way..." Kiki gasped out, forcing her eyes opened and looked at the Mother. "You're... not planning on keeping me... are you." It was more a statement than a question. "Why should..." Kiki winced and took in quick gasps of air, trying to ease the pain in any way. Then she continued, "tell you any... thing...?"

Kyle smiled and then nodded his head as they walked. "Yeah, as a matter of fact, I think they're recruting now. Do you have any experience, Shino?" Kyle already knew there names from what Alice and Kiki already told him the night before. And he already asked them for their names when he picked them up.

Of course he is!" Skye exclaimed with a grin. She then nudged him in the ribs very gently. "He's the smartest guy ever. You give him anything to analyze, he can give you information lickity split. If he never seen it before, he can find all the information possible about it."

Oh, really now?" Kyle smirked and then waved his hand in the air as he walked. "We'll see. I'll take you to the researcher facility, in fact, we're already heading in that direction. Then you can see for yourself if you want to take up the job."

A shadow fell over Alice's form, examining her for a moment. Then the shadow started to get smaller as it ran towards Alice's form on the ground. "Alice!"

Jacklyn knelt down by Alice, and turned her over gradually, just in case she had other injuries that Jacklyn couldn't see. She pressed her fingers against the girl's neck, feeling her pulse. She was still alive, and still breathing, but her heart beat was off like she was in pain.

Jacklyn suddenly straightened when she heard the hiss of the elevator and looked over. There was Allen... she could see that there were others, but she couldn't see who they were exactly. "Allen, great timing. Alice is hurt, I need your help to get her back down to the city."

Before Allen could greet Jacklyn, he hear he say that Alice was hurt. "Any idea what wrong with her?" He said going to to Alice's side. He had just gotten to the surface and someone was already injured, this really wasn't a good day.

 

"Oh yes, ignorance, my favorite!" he muttered, kneeling down next to Allen. What a great way to start out the day. Somebodies injured. Joy oh joy. he thought sarcastically, shaking off his immature thoughts. "I-is there anything we can do to help?" he asked.

The air became less dense as the demons around Mother vanished and the binds on Kiki let go.

"There, as a show of good faith."

Mother walked up to where Kiki was and knelled down next to her, as she couldn't stand with broken legs, obviously.

"Here, I will even explain Ghouls first, and then you may tell me about this city." She spoke with a never fading smile. "You see... There are special children like Alice and Daemon who can drink demon blood and become very much like demons themselves. However... Not all can handle the blood of a demon, and... Well, you humans seemed to of named those Ghouls." Mother got to her feet, still looking down at Kiki with a smile. "And then they somehow manage to spread their...condition. Too be honest, they're a problem even for us, especially as they seem to be getting smarter. But hopefully we can kill them all..." She turned around and took a few steps away from Kiki. "So please, tell me all about this city."

Alice​

Alice saw a few black blobs above her and heard their muffled voices. Ghouls never spoke, so it couldn't be them. Demons? No... The hand that touched her neck was warm, demons' hands were always cold. So they had to of been humans... Yes, the voices... She did recognize them, even if she could not match a name to each voice.

Without saying anything to them, probably couldn't speak anyway, she slowly sat up, only to start coughing. She continued to do such until some blood spat out. She ignored it and continued getting to her feet.

Alice could barley stand but forced herself up, looking around her but unable to see all that well. A faint red glow then came about her, her tapping into her demonic side.

Where are you Kiki... Did Daemon lead Mother to you?

Alice's teeth grew into fangs and her fingernails became claw-like. She could see now, but it wasn't what was around her. Instead she saw through Mother's eyes.

Kiki!

Mother's eyes widen as she felt Alice's presence.

Finally! One of my best reveals herself to me once more.

"See you soon, darling." Mother said to Kiki before vanishing from view.

The demons and this Mother suddenly vanished out of sight... Kiki's breath was shaky and uneven as she laid there on the cold stone floor, trying to forget about the pain or drown it out of her brain somehow. Her legs... she couldn't move them. They were the things she needed for survival on the surface, and Mother had broken them.

'Some mother she is,' Kiki thought in the back of her mind.

Kiki knew this was her only chance that she had, and she shouldn't question it. She should make her escape, with or without broken legs. "Suck it up, soldier," Kiki's voice strained as she talked to herself. Gritting her teeth together until they began to hurt, Kiki pulled herself up on her elbows and had a look around. There was a tunnel ahead of her... She didn't know what other route to take, so she chose this one as her best bet. Using her arms and the muscles in her torso, Kiki began to army crawl forward. The pain in her legs were almost unbearable when she moved, but she knew she had to keep going, no matter what. This was her only chance.

'I'm coming guys, I'm coming...'

Stand back!" Jacklyn ordered the others as her arm went out to stop them from walking forward toward Alice. She knew the others were going to ask questions later when Alice began to show her demonic side to the little audience she had, and that part she was not looking forward to was to answer their questions. Now more people were going to know about Alice's secret.

Jacklyn held her arm out a bit longer to hold back the others, narrowing her eyes as she watched Alice. Something triggered it. "Stay here," Jacklyn spoke lowly and then dropped her arm. This was bad, really bad. Especially since Alice was terribly hurt. She could see the blood in the corner of her mouth. She would have to act as quickly as possible.

"Alice, it's me, Jacklyn.... Jackie... Kyle's twin sister... Come back to us, please." Jacklyn took a brave step towards Alice, and then waited as she watched to see what would happen next.

Shino​

Shino blushed slightly at Skye's comments, rubbing the place where he was nudged by her. He was flattered, really. But he didn't feel as if he needed such praise. Nonetheless, he couldn't help but to smile as he followed along behind the other two.

Alice​

There was rage there, inside of Alice. How dare Mother hurt her friends? She needed to pay... But, Mother was not around her and...she needed to release this rage. Mother's vision faded and thus she saw the things around her now, though still blurred.

Upon hearing her name she looked to one of her sides, seeing a figure there. Growling, Alice leered at it, ready to attack.

But the moment before she did so she became deadly quiet, snapping her head around to look behind her. She sensed it, Mother's presence. Instinctively she reverted back to save herself, but without the demonic powers she wasn't strong enough to stand. In fact, the moment she turned back to normal she passed out and started to fall towards the ground.

"Okay, what was that about?" Allen asked seeing Alice once again pass out. First she got up and transform into something demonic, then she becomes her old selves and passes out. I can already tell, the rest of this say is going to be interesting.

Jacklyn quickly acted, catching Alice in her arms before she slammed into the hard ground. The girl's body was shaking in her hands, reacting to the demonic side that was still fighting her.

She looked up at Allen, her eyes cold and serious. She didn't say anything as she gathered Alice in her arms and held her close, like she was the big sister here to comfort the little sister. "All will be explained in due time, Allen. For now, keep what you saw to yourself. It's very critical at this time." Positioning Alice against herself so she could have a free arm, Jacklyn pressed a device in her ear and turned it on. "Kyle, I need a medic. It's Alice." It was a comlink, one of the ones that she picked out for herself when Kyle brought her in to see his new inventions.

Although she just called for a medic, Jacklyn knew she couldn't leave Alice alone at this point. She needed a familiar face, and Jacklyn was the only one available at the time. Where ever Kiki was, she didn't know. Kiki was more close to Alice than she, but Jacklyn figured she would have to do right now. "Alice... are you there?" she ventured, trying to rouse her from her unconscious state. Jacklyn needed to figure out what triggered Alice's demonic side while she waited for someone to come to them. Moving her in her condition could be fatal, since she didn't know how badly hurt Alice was.

Kyle, suddenly hearing his name coming from his metal arm, stopped walking and pulled his sleeve back. A little hologram of a sound wave appeared as the computer matched the voice to Jacklyn's... His sister's. She needed a medic? Alice...

That could only mean one thing.

Kyle looked back at the kids that were following them, his face growing very serious. He couldn't just leave them here, they wouldn't know how to get back. Then again, the girl called Skye wanted to be a medic...

"Skye, you want to be a medic, right? You and Shino are coming with me to the surface. We have a friend who's hurt. Shino, I'll show you the research lab later."

Skye gasped as she met Kyle's eyes. She wasn't ready to be a medic, at least she thought so. Not a professional one anyways. But Kyle looked dead serious, and it seemed like they didn't have a choice.

But the surface... that hellish nightmare. She never wanted to go back. She stepped closer to Shino, seeking for some sort of comfort. But then again, she remembered something. She survived thus far with Shino, they could handle one little trip to the surface. It was just yesterday they were being chased by ghouls after all...

Skye mustered enough courage inside of her, looking at her friend. She forced a smile, then gave the thumbs up to him. "What do you say, Shino? A quick trip to the surface?" She had a feeling Shino never wanted to go back, but she couldn't go alone with a person she barely met. She needed a close friend to stand by her side. She was selfish in that way.

 

A young man raced throughout the barren area, sweat clinging to his brow, "Damn...What'd I get myself into...?!" he cried, amber eyes full of regret. Kayate Kotain was running for his life, a group af Ghouls nearing behind him, "Gahhhh!" he cried, seeing no way in that he could escape, he saw no corners to quickly dash by and make a daring escape as an avian animal, there was no fire nearby, no way to lose the sight on him. "This...Can't...Be...My end!" he muttered with each breath he took, his eyes danced, as he saw something ahead of him in a collection of mist that gave him a bit of hope, a plan came to mind. "...Here goes nothin'!" he cried, as his body began to become transparent from the feet up, a smirk appeared on his face as it began to dissapear from view. Before he completely vanished, and stepped into the cave, he turned sharply to the left, allowing the Ghouls to follow suit. "And...The Flash Step!", he mutters to himself, using the extremely strenuous technique, appeared behind the Ghouls, quickly sidestepping to the right, inside the cave, doing a small somersault. "Jeez...Maybe...I should think about formally...Joining that city..." he gasped, catching his breath, hoping that the Ghouls from the outside wouldn't discover him.
