Forgotten Insanity

Kiki opened the squeaky door to her coat closet and then knelt on the cool, rough wooden floor and moved a couple of cardboard boxes to the side. With that done, she pulled away a few boards from the floor that looked sturdy at first sight but revealed a secret hole beneath. She smiled and then pulled out a small backpack with all the supplies she needed to be on the surface for four days (if needed) and her weapons belt. They were unusal, a mix between scythes and chakarmas, but they suited her just fine if the ghouls got a little close to her... which was rare. Hawkeye always took care of those who got too close to her.

After pulling out what she needed, she put the boards back in place, slid the boxed back where they were, and shut the closet door behind her. There were some other things in that secret space she had, but it wasn't important to her right now; she had a job to do right now. Kiki then clipped the weapon belt on her waist, slid her light camping backpack on that was smaller than her back but had everything she needed, and then shut the closet door behind her. She was already wearing her fastest yet sturdiest running shoes to help her move about easily and quietly, and she pulled on a pair of fingerless gloves. She usually didn't wear them, but it was for gripping things when she needed to climb high buildings... And she had a feeling she would do some climbing.

When she walked out of the door, Kiki shut the door behind her, not bothering to lock it since people loved to hang out at her house some times and help themselves to her food. She was always willing to share, just as long as they left something in return for her. She sighed out and then turned to walk into the street, almost running into a figure. "Ah!" Kiki quickly sidestepped before she ran into the guy, realizing that she let herself get distracted. She could sensed him a mile or two away if she was paying attention. "Hey Allen!" she greeted, recognizing the figure. "I'm just leaving, have to go to the surface now with Hawkeye. Maybe we can catch up later? Or if you want, you can meet up with us!" Kiki grinned and then saluted to her friend. "See ya later! If you're coming or not." Really wanting to get to Hawkeye so he wouldn't have to wait for her, she turned and started to sprint down the familiar streets towards the elevator.

As she went, she saw Hawkeye was coming back in her direction and smiled as she sped up her pace. When she caught up to him, she only slowed down slightly and then tugged on his arm. "Come on! Let's get going." She laughed happily and then pulled him down the street, craving for a new adventure in this new day. Who knows, maybe they would find more kids to save...

Yeah... but to me, it almost seems to good to be true..." Shino probably wouldn't figure out what was really on Skye's mind since he was grateful to be here already. She was just getting use to this life. She was trained since she was born to keep alert, keep watch, work hard to keep sanity, and fight to survive another day. It wasn't that these people weren't fighting... but to Skye, it seemed like they were getting things handed to them on a platter. Maybe it was her own selfish instincts that was clogging her mind.

Deciding to change the subject since she wasn't going to get really anywhere with it, she turned to Shino and grinned at him while clapping her hands together. "So! What should we do today? Explore the city or something? Look into jobs?"

 

Zach walked casually down the street, then stopped at the corner, watching Kiki run into Allen. She seemed in quite a rush, Well, at least somebodies excited. he thought, chuckling to himself. He walked up to Allen, practically beaming, "Hey Allen, you're going to Kiki's house?" he greeted,beaming, Morning adrenaline. Some people must think I'm off my rocker. he thought to himself.

Shino​

Shino looked around, unsure what to so exactly. They never really had a choice before, it all depended on the local Ghoul activity and what they needed to do mostly. "Um.. We could do both? Explore and while doing so we ask around about jobs...?"

Alice​

They had nearly reached the apartment where the newcomers were staying when Alice's head started to vibrate with pain before going completely numb. What... Before she could process what exactly was happening she fell to her knees as the world began to spin and then blur.

Daemon​

Daemon had walked along Alice until she heard a voice echo within her mind. My child... These are not are friends. The sooth, motherly voice had said. Please, return to us.

And at that exact moment Alice had fallen to her knees, giving Daemon the signal to run off, which she then did. Grinning all the way she raced towards the nearest elevator, finding it already opened and ready to go. And the moment she got it the doors closed and it started to rise in the air.

With the time it would take Alice to recover and the elevator to return to the bottom Daemon found herself with a pretty decent head start.

 

Ɣ_ɧᶏᶭᶄᶓӌᶓ_Ɣ

He couldn't help but swallow down a frog in his throat. He was strangely nervous, and he didn't know why. He knew that everything was going to be okay, like it always was. If a ghoul was being exceptionally sneaky, all he'd do was shoot it or warn Kiki through the Comlink they had. Simple, right? He was safe up in his vantage point, he knew how to take out these Ghouls. Everything was going to be fine. He forced a smile onto his face as he tromped over to the elevator with Kiki, smiling and wrapping an arm around her upper back. Giving her a happy squeeze, he looked down at her tiny form and nodded. "Ah, yeah. I'm ready. Everything will be great, just like always, right? We'll find some more survivors or maybe something valuable, let's hope." He said, trying to be optimistic. Feeling them rise and the elevator open to the surface world, he stepped out with Kiki and watched the thing descend. Kicking some sand and dead leaves over it to hide it better, he looked over the barren landscape and then back to her. He nodded silently and parted ways from her with a quiet prayer, heading for an abandoned skyscraper with a blown-off roof.

Alright then," Kiki said quietly to herself as she pulled out her homemade scythes and twirled them with her fingers slightly before gripping them and held them to her side. She heard Hawkeye's footsteps disappear to a different direction and then closed her eyes while taking a deep breath through her nose.

Her mind suddenly opened what it seemed to be a map, and it was that. Her mental map was rather large, but there were areas that were phased out around the edges and red areas (places she's never tried to venture to before, or places where she's been but hadn't explored it enough. She could see little things moving across her map here and there and sensed whether it was friend or foe. No matter how many of these ghouls they killed, more seemed to pop up in the hours they leave the Surface unattended. 'That's probably why Jackie doesn't stay with us for very long' she thought.

Finally making up her mind, Kiki decided to go explore one of the unfamiliar areas she marked in her mental map and started to sprint almost silently to that area. It was still in sight of the skyscrapper where Hawkeye was running to, and it would be close enough for him to shoot ghouls easily. Earlier in the month, Kyle had her constantly come to his workshop and draw out her little mind map on his super computer for him. What were on the Comlinks now were what Kiki had drawn for everyone else. Every time she had to go explore a new area or discover something new, she had to report to Kyle and draw out what she had found that day. Soon everybody is going to have these things, Kyle said to her once before. For now, it's just your "family", Hawkeye, and others that have dropped by to see me. (By family, he meant Alice and Elizabeth. They were like sisters to her after all after they found her and took her in.) Be sure to remember to notify the other Surface workers if you see them. She smiled to herself, very grateful that they had a smarty on their side.

Something suddenly peirced her thoughts, causing her to gasp and skid to a stop on the dusty path. She looked towards the East elevator, suddenly coming to alert. Someone was there, but it wasn't someone she recognized right away, but she could tell it was a child... Two thoughts suddenly clicked into one and Kiki brought up her Comlink, pushing the button to communication line after putting one of her scythes in her shealth that was attatched to her belt. "Alice, is Daemon with you?" If she wasn't with her, that would be big trouble for everyone. If what Jackie said was true and what Alice said was also true, then Daemon suddenly became a danger to everyone. If she went back to the ghouls, she could tell them where the survivors were hiding, and then...

They would have to act fast if this was the case.

Not liking that or the silence on the line, Kiki pressed on the green button impatiently. "ALICE?! Answer me! Are you there?!" She strained to hold onto the thread that the child leant out to her without knowing, but she was starting to get farther and farther away.

Okay, sounds like a plan. Just help me clean these dishes and we can go check into what interests us right away." Kiki looked over her shoulder and grinned at Shino, finally putting her bad thoughts and feelings on the shelf. She had to learn from Shino and be optimistic about everything, not the opposite of it. She could choose to be happy, she knew that.

 

Alice​

Alice held her head as it started to pound, only vaugely hearing Kiki's voice in the background. She struggled to get her feet and limped over towards the elevator, blood dripping from the corners of her mouth. "I'm fine." She said into the comlink after pressing the button. And though she said that she was sure it did not sound like such in her voice.

When she had finally reached the elevator she slammed the button out of frustration and waited for it to get down to her level. "And no, Daemon is no longer with me. But you should be able to sense her, right?"

Finally the elevator was down at the bottom and she was able to board it. After doing so she pressed on the button to go up more than needed and took the long ride to the surface impatiently.

Shino​

Shino moved over towards the sink and rolled up the sleeves of his jacket so he may help do the dishes. "Alright then," he said, still smiling. Hopefully everyone in the city were nice like the ones they had met so far.

Daemon​

When Daemon had reached the surface she ran her fastest and soon came upon a group of Ghouls. They didn't speak, but she could tell that they were mad at her. "I have no time for the likes of you!" She shouted as her eyes turn red and her fingers changes into claws and her nails sharpened. She growled at them slightly, baring her teeth which were now fangs. Instead of attack her like they normally did they moved to the side, which took her by surprise.

"Is Mother near?" She questioned, unsure if that was really why they had moved out of the way. Either way she knew that it was best not to waste time and ran past the group of Ghouls, heading towards her demon home, which was pretty far away.

Angelique removed her glasses and folded them onto her collared shirt,
rubbing her eyes to adjust. She

made her way toward the Elevator, preferring the long way; it gave her time to check on her equipment. She entered and had to squint her eyes to see the right button She felt her body; sword

sheath with sword within;check; belt with puches and awesome skull buckle;Check; First-Aid in one pouch;check. And it went on like this until she would hit top floor, where she'[d explore a bit and save,perhaps, some people.

"Well I was but seeing as she just passed me, I might as well follow, feel free to tag along." Allen said as he saw Zack walking towards him. He contiued to walk towarrds the elevator.

Yeah, I still sense her, but she's getting farther by the second. She's moving pretty fast," Kiki said through the comlink and pushed herself to sprint faster along the ground after Daemon. "And you don't sound like you're okay." She was worried for Alice, something wasn't right about her and she could hear it on Alice's voice. Did Daemon do anything to her? Or was it something else? Was this Mother doing something to Alice again? Crazy things happened to her sister like friend in the past, which left her scared for Alice. There was no time to worry about that though.

Kiki suddenly sensed something moving swiftly to her right and spun as she was running just in time to avoid a ghoul that jumped out of the shadows at her. Her weapon was already poised and ready to strike. When the ghoul leaped at her again, she spun around on the ball of her feet and sliced through the ghoul, right where the throat was so it couldn't scream to warn the others of her presence. She didn't bother to see if she got rid of it for good or not as she raced through the ruins of the surface after the little girl. Meanwhile, the ghoul that tried to attack her fell to the dust with a thud, fingers twitching slightly as the life drained from the monster.

Kiki pressed her comlink again, still moving pretty fast through the ruins and avoiding the areas where ghouls were grouped together around her. "Hawkeye, keep an eye on me. You guys can track me on the comlink, right? I'm starting to move into unfamiliar territory, so I don't know how long this is going to keep us connected." She couldn't help but to feel a sense of dread in the pit of her stomach as she felt like she was getting closer to Daemon, but she was still so far. She could tell that she was going in an unfamiliar world, she hadn't seen this part before.

This part of the Surface had houses of all shapes and sizes collasping around her. There were cars that were turned over on their sides or crashed into rusty light polls. She could sense many enemies around her as she ran as silently as she could through the lifeless neighborhood, but she couldn't tell what they all were. Some were ghouls... some were something else she never sensed before. 'I hope I don't run into them,' she thought and kept her weapons close at hand.

 

"Alright, too bad I'm missing out of some food. Oh well. Race ya!" he put on a childish grin, and without a reply he took off toward the elevator. When he was just about there he slowed down his pace, and he saw the elevator close. He went to a complete stop, leaning over with his hands on his knees, trying to catch his breath. After he caught his breath he stood up, dusting himself off. He pressed the button casually as he leaned against the side, tapping his finger against the elevator door impatiently.

"You won't beat me that easily." Allen said chasing after Zack. By the time he had already, Zack beat him to the elevator. "Next time I'll be the one who wins." He said catching his breath. He's just lucky I wasn't running at my best, then I would've won for sure.

 

Zach chuckled, more mature now that he had gotten his childish actions out of the way. "Yeah, we'll see about that. Next time I'll try." he grinned slightly, drumming his fingers against the door. "Wonder what's going on up on the surface. There's already some people there, right?" Zach asked, raising his eyebrow.

Angelique felt the Elevator stop, and knew there were gonna be some people jamming in with her. She took out her glassed and cleaned them, breathing on them and wiping it with her shirt. She slid them on as the doors opened, and she could get a better look.

"That is the general idea, if there were'nt any people up there we woul'nt have much need to head up there in the first place." Allen replied. Some of them came from the surface so there had to be people somewhere up there.

Allen walked into the elevator and watched the doors close. "So you are?" Allen asked the man in the elevator. It did seem strange that. he just suddenly appear in the elevator when they showed up.

 

Alice​

Finally... Thought Alice as the elevator came to a halt. Once she had opened its gates she rushed down the tunnels to a security door and found the nearest ladder leading towards the surface, which lead into one of the thousands run down buildings in the ruins.

Luckily she had blocked out Mother's voice by now since she had little hold over Alice, but the pain had yet to fade. And then there was her injury from her last visit to the surface... There's no time for this! She shook her head and ran forward, only to fall a few feet ahead. Knowing that she would be mostly useless here she reached for the comlink and pressed the button. "I'm sorry... But it seems like it's up to you this time around. Good luck..."

Daemon​

Daemon slowed down as she started to sense other demons and half-demons around her. There weren't much, but at least she was safe now. "Mother, is that you?" She didn't get a direct reply but she felt Mother's presence more strongly now as it started to make the air dense and cold.

He was a serious klutz from the very beginning.



And he was an enchanting jerk from the very start.

Bored. That's what he was. Terribly bored.

Even though he was just about to leave towards his work area, Luke couldn't help but feel tired and exhausted. Strangely, he had just woken up a few hours ago and his day hasn't even begun, yet he already felt like he had a long day of hard work. He yawned before taking another bite of his breakfast, which consisted only of toast and water. Luke's mom was already up and out the door before he even woke up, so she had to be as tired as he was. At least, he think she should be. He finished the last bits of his meal and walked out the door.

Luke hummed a tune while walking and looking at what would be considered the sky of those living underground. His new life was bothersome, but he tolerated it for his mother. He did admit, though, his job as a mechanic was pretty fun. He had the liberty of taking things apart then making a new creation that could be of use for those that surround him. He smirked. That's what he would consider fun.

Angelique stepped slightly more to the side to make more room. She did not know much of anyone here, and these two were not an exception. She would usually just stay in her house, Trying, to lift weights. She gave a slight smile. "Angelique." she told them, pulling her hands behind her back. Seemed like she wasn't the only one going to the surface today.

Charlie had woken up by now, and dressed. He walked out his home and sighed loudly. The elevators would be packed at this time, maybe he'd just go back home. But he was already awake....Dressed... Walking....He rubbed his eyes once more, he'd just go to the surface.​

​

 

Zach nodded, trying to keep the elevator not completely silent, "Lot of people going to the surface. Maybe we'll work together today." he said, his voice still cracking since he was tired, his eyes still practically half drooping. He looked at her, puzzled, Well she's not familiar. He snapped his fingers to break the silence, "So. Working..fun." he muttered.

Angelique nodded, giving out a small chuckle. "Sure, fun. Perhaps we will, I'm not sure if I'm just going to look for people, or something else." she broke some of the ice, nodding her head as she talked. Wasn't everyday she'd meet someone, or talk to someone, might as well try to make a friend; Charlie wasn't much of one.​
