I really don't see why we have to compete in something that is supposed to be an enjoyable form of storytelling. That's probably why I do most of my RPing on another site now. I don't feel I should have to prove anything. It's a sad point when everything has to be competitive and is a good reason why I am seriously considering leaving this site.

Only one form is championed and everyone else's style tends to be rubbished. Oh well, there goes the neighbourhood and free expression. Is it going to get to the point where we are told how to RP? If so I feel this forum has really lost its way.

It's a good idea if it gives RPers the initiative to improve..

CtR is trying to help RPers get a better name for themselves, since I'm pretty sure they dislike being called noobs or looked down upon by elitists. :/ I'm very sure that they can still express themselves and use better literature skills at the same time.

There's only one way to RP, imo, and making a mockery of the English language isn't the way to do it.

I can write with reasonably good grammar and spelling and have written reviews for a professional website. I come here to relax. There are less accomplished story writers, graphic artists and console gamers as well and this used to be the one forum that resisted the conformation to the elitism that will occur here. KHV already has elitism, and this will help it.

This isn't made to make you feel as though I am taking away your freedom of speech and expression etc etc, however if you believe so strongly in your use of the English language then I would have thought you would have understood that posts such as:
defeat the object of having a fun and engaging RP. There will be no elitism, this is a FUN competition to encourage the RPers to show the rest of the site what they are made of, unless you have no objection to the constant degrading that they go through as a result of other members.

KHV has elitism yes, but go to any forum, go to any place, and the same can be said. KHV has elitism and at the present time RPers are looked down on, I find this to be both insulting and unfair, excuse me for trying to make a difference,

No one is asking you to be competitive. If you have no desire to want to 'be the best' at RP'ing, then this thread quite simply doesn't concern you.

Just continue to RP the way you have, and continue doing it for the reasons you do it. Post when you feel like it, and simply RP when you feel like it. It's a completely voluntary thing to participate in CtR's idea.

Just to put it into context: as much as I love writing fanfiction, I have not once submitted any of my work for the Story of the Week competitions. I'm simply writing for the enjoyment of it and for the people who like reading my work. I have no desire to butt heads with other writers to claim superiority. Given this, no one's really interfered with how I write my stories, and no one's forced me to change how I write. Despite the introduction of a 'competition' for the genre, it hasn't affected why and how I do my work.

Perhaps you can look at your RP'ing in the same way.

The only thing I see that has become a new requirement is posts must be a paragraph long. How to write this one paragraph is up to you.

Jeez, I think all you RPers should be happy about this.
This section is not very attractive, if you know what I mean.
Things that are spotted here very often are bad grammar, txt talk, posts with not very goood content mostly just a sentance like: He smiled at her.

I completely stopped RPing because of these factors and the peopl that never look out of this section often get called noobs because the section pretty much sucked before Ctr started cleaning it a little up.

And I also would encourange newbies to look in other sections at times to =/.

Another reason for people who RP in here to be called noobs is that many RPers are often new people who havn't read the rules and there by don't erm 'go with the flow' to put it like that.

Read the rules, improve grammar and look in other sections at times.

and Ctr made this thread so this section would be a little more fun. For some months now it's just been the same RPs with the same people. And most of KHV's population is sick of the re try's etc.. KH high school, KH crossover etcetcetc
Be a little original. This section could become pretty good again.

Now Ctr did a great job making this and getting up the interest in this section, I think you all should be thankful.

And Soushirei is really right to :3

You want good RPers, check out the Ultimate Organization and its ensuing threads. The guys there (Jaxed, Nulix, Wing, Star_Seeker, Hidden_Light, Xephos, DarKnight36, etc.) are the best there is EVER.

No competition. (I only included myself because I'm in the UO).

Yes, those are examples of good RPers, I should know since I used to be in the RP around the time you guys sent swordser back to Division 2.

Elitism is every where. There is no escaping it. This is not to promote elitism, but to give RPers a better name becuas the elitists look own on them. CTR just wants to help the RPers. This is just a fun thing to get the section looking more organized instead of looking like remnants of swordser. It's exactly like SoTW in the Arts and Graphics section. Its a fun thing but you don't have to get into it. You are already a good RPer so you don't need to worry about having to change the way you RP.

If this works and the RP section gets better I may actualy consider comming back.

    I smell riot , but okay , I will like this . ^ ^

But having a post at least one paragraph long . . . yeah . . . you should at least make posts at least 3 sentences long . -_- Complete sentences .
This section is sure going to be abused these days with all these new rules . ..

Well this Is...Er....Different. Not saying Its bad or anything, I think Its a great Idea! But It kind of makes me wonder If those people who call us 'n00bs' will change their minds, they'll probably think we're more n00bish for having competitions

But really, who cares If people look down on us and call us n00bs? We're here to have a good time and those people shouldn't get In our way, and I don't think they have, or what Ive seen.
Anyway, The Enigmatic Knights and The Ultimate Organization are probably the only RPG's I actually enjoy, seeing as though I was once RPG crazy but then I moved on and remembered my RPing buddy's. So yeah, I do like those two threads, have a look!

    Epic just , Epic .

I better sit back and watch till the Role-Playing Arena become's a strict millatary base . ^ ^ But the more needier and hard to follow these rules get , the lesser and more less populated this Site will get . Like a 6 out of 10 newcomers are usually people who've been interested in joining by reading some of the top RPGs , and most of them are going to be rpers with bad grammer and speech . . . I know this from experience .

Would you rather that nothing was done? For the record, since I became mod of this section I have only added ONE new rule and that is regarding post length. Would you prefer for RPers to constantly be pulled down? If you have another suggestion for improving the quality and reputation then by all means share it. However if you belive this section to be headed towards a "Strict Military Base" then you should go look at some official RP sites.

Also, I would much rather have quality members than quantity members.

:D I was just saying that you guys got put a limit on how much rules this section can take . I should suggest someone making a rper training forum and new comers that come to this site who wish to rp should take a few tests and give out a example of there rping work . If they past this simple test then they can go on posting . But they must be closely watched inorder to continue on , if we spot a often occuring problem , we will pull them back in and train them some more , till they have surpassed their goal . :)
It was just my opinion , I have a right to free speech on here now do I ? :3

Yep yep you have freedom of speech XD thats why I left this thread unlocked :P

Hmmm but if members are tested before being allowed to post, do you not think that is actually stricter?

I did say a simple test , I can put one together , it's not going to be that hard though . Trust me , I've seen even harder tests . :D

Just encouraging RPers to improve their spelling/grammar/RP'ing skills is good enough.

How strict to be will depend on the RP starter themselves. It's up to the RP starter if they want you in their RP or not, and no one should be forced to let someone in their RP if they don't want you there. So all the nitty-gritty requirements that some RPers want should be handled in their own RP requirements.
