I mean the first few episodes had great writing and laid the foundation for the series. You would view Light's gradual transformation into Kira and look in awe at his corruption. L was this mysterious genius, veiled by shadows, always keeping you guessing.

The middle few episodes really dished out some brilliant work from Light and L. Starting the five-person investigative squad made the series really fell like it was moving. Light kept getting smarter and smarter, cleverly evading L at nearly every turn.

The episodes up until Light's imprisonment were overall very plot filled with some occasional comic relief. L is no longer an enigma and he's actually quite childish and frankly hilarious. The Second Kira was a fairly huge plot twist that made a few episodes quite suspenseful. Light becomes even more diabolical, using Misa as his puppet to learn L's true name.

The last few episodes (starting with the moment Light loses the Death Note) have been fairly dry. It's as if all the mystery and various plot devices used through out have been dropped, being replaced by the Yotsuba Group plot, a confusing and somewhat interesting scandal backed by the New Kira.

Don't get me wrong, I still like the show, but it isn't pulling me in as earlier episodes have.

For those not following the Dub, last night was the premier of Episode 20, Makeshift.

I was sad when Light lost the death note.
It makes me wonder if he'll ever get it back, and if he had a backup plan or something

I didn't see the 20th episode yet, but I'll go watch it in a few minutes on youtube or something

Knowing Light, he probably does. And knowing anime writers, this plan probably won't be incorporated until the end of the series XD.

I do have to say that at first I hadn't the slightest interest in the Yotsuba arc.

But now that I've seen the series a couple *cough*hundred times, I realize that it had to be done to continue on with the story line.
Quite frankly, Light and Misa had to have lost ownership of the Death Note in order to be set free by L. The killings had to continue, and Light had to have some suspicion taken off of him, as L was pretty convinced (and still, most likely, is) that he was Kira.

If you've just been watching the Dub and not the sub, then you probably won't know about Light's overall plan.
I won't spoil anything, however I will say that he instructed Rem to give the Death Note to a person who would use the Death Note for their own benefit but still continue the killing of criminals. And because this would save Misa, Rem searched and found a certain member of Yotsuba.

Though I'm not disagreeing with you. I can't stand it either.

Anyways, We only have a couple more episodes to go, though. Pretty soon everything will unravel and you'll be glad you sat through the Yotsuba arc =]

Oh and Breg, it ends at episode 24 ;)

It is the most dissapointing arc of the series. Period.

It gets much better from 25 onward.

if ur really wondering, watch the japanese episodes, they are done with the show entirely...THE ENDING IS GOOD I MUST SAY!

wont say any more unless you really ask me...coughHINTcough...

It gets wayyy better and all I can say is, since your up to the 3rd Kira part (shown from the other posts before mine) the arc is almost finished so be patient, XD.

Anyway, I really liked the Anime I give it 4 out of 5 L's. It hardly has action overall, yet its so suspenseful so I'd say its even better written than Bleach or Naruto...the shorter Anime's always are...

True, it is kinda bland, but it gets wayy better. I've been following up with the TV show with the manga, because I need something to read at school.

Anyway, next episode, everything will be clear.

Oh my god! That had to be the most brilliant thing I've ever seen! (spoilers for episode 25)

There was so much symbolism in that episode! Through out the entire series, L never blinks because, as a detective, he might miss something, but in his death scene, he finally closes his eyes. He no longer has to watch over everything. Then there's the scene at the beginning where Ryuzaki and Watari are standing at the gates of the orphanage. It's symbolic of them both "leaving" Earth. Plus, that whole thing with the church bells was also pretty sweet.

L's death was even foreshadowed earlier in the series when he falls off his chair after hearing the word "shinigami." The writers of this show are absolutely brilliant! They put so much thought into everything.

Rawr! I feel like I missed something, can anybody help me out?
