Digital Art first sprite

i followed this sprite tut from deviantart. i dont have photoshop so i did it on gimp. i dont think the outcome was as good, so if anyone knows a good sprite tut please pm it to me

 

It looks nice for a first try. I'm not a spriter, so I can't help you, sorry.

 

I need to see a bigger pic. Anyway bassicly when spriting your just grabbing a paint pencil and making out a desighn but if you need a tutorial heres what I can dig up.

This is for Genesis style sprites though.
