First Cars

I just saw a video about the best first cars. And it seems that the average spent on people's first cars are £2,400 (Around $4,800). Which is £1,400 more than what my parents spent on mine. XD

And it made me wonder for those who drive what was your first car?

I have a nice 1998 1.4 Vauxhall Astra. A good car that has done over 105,000 and is still is very good conidition (except for that flat tire I caused while going to work. XD But that is sorted out now) Quite a nippy little car does 100MPH comfortably, not that your suppose to go that fast. <> Also it's a family car, so it has quite a bit of space. =O

 

$4,800?! Are you serious?! Wow, that's crazy. I'm not spending more than 2 grand on mine.

 

Well inflation is high in the UK, prices are generally high here, but then again £2,400 is a hell of alot. XD Since mine was £1000.

 

Well, I'm going to learn how to drive this year.. I'll probably spend about £500-£1000 on my first car. I'm dreading it, lol.. since there's insurance and everything to pay on top of that. Dx My mam still drives her first car.. and it's so ugly and old. xD; I really don't want to be like her. I want a snazzy car. :C

:/ My brother has enough money to keep two cars for himself. A lovely mustang and a lovely jeep. <_> I could be possibly taking the jeep of his hands in the future, though. Yay family. Wouldn't want the mustang, though. >: It smells.

 

Tell me about it, my insurance for the year costed as much as the car itself.

My first car was actually my parents old car that they handed over to me when they bought a newer model Outback. Mine was a 97 midnight green Subaru Outback.

But last year I bought my first car, and I spared no expense. 07 Hyundai Elantra, new off the lot. And i'm still paying off that decision. Only 4 more years lol.

 

When I got my license my mom bought a new car, and I got the 1997 Mitsubishi Lancer which was the biggest piece of crap ever. I was not a fan of it at all, mostly cause it was given to me as a piece and I didn't bother to care for it. Plus I was in High School and couldn't afford to.

Now after that thing crapped out, I bought myself a 2000 VW Jetta GLX, a full luxury sedan fully loaded with leather and wood grain and all. It has a 2.8 VR6 engine and can put down some good numbers, complete with a lower kit and stiffened suspension and Intake with a new wiring set. <3. I bought for $8000 which isn't to bad of a deal. Only 3.5 years to go.

 

'07 Silver Streak, Toyota Corolla LE, $16,000, not including GuidePoint.

I put $8,000 down in cash as payment, but it's been about two years now and I still have $8,000 left to pay. How whacked is that? :huh:

I'm hoping to get a GTI or R32 as my first car, and if not that, then a Squareback or Fastback. Odd yes, but I lovelovelove em'.

 

My first car was given to me by my parents; it was my dad's old car before he got his current Jeep. It was a '00 Mazda 626, gold, no A/C, shot CDs at me, 110K miles, old little thing. Still loved it to death. Totaled it last year in a crash.

My car now is an '03 Hyundai Accent, 47k miles (bought it at 45k), A/C's ice cold, but no power locks like in my old car. However, the dealer told me I'd only get 32 mpg highway, I actually get 36. I love it; perfect for my small bank account and current lack of job.

edit: just fixed a small spelling error....what the heck's a pnly, anyway?

 

I will promise you, that you will not be able to afford the insurance premium on an R32 it is amazingly high.

a car only seems like a dream to me right now... and a licence.. well... thats just sad. im 17 abt to be 18. T_T
