Having played six of the games and beaten three of them, I am a major fan of the series. So, have you played them? Which games, and for what systems? The Game Boy Advance games far outweigh more recent others in my opinion. If you have only played Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and on, then you need to backtrack a bit and play the three predecessors before you move on. The second for the GBA and the first game in English (called simply Fire Emblem here, and Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword in Japan) is easily my favorite, and if you are going to start on the series then I recommend either that or Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones, which was released later.

EDIT: PM me for the link that was removed here.

The GBA games are easily my favourites. I could play them for hours and hours, playing with different strategies for each map and never got bored. The characters were very well created, for both Fire Emblem and The Sacred Stones, and the stories were class. Probably some of my favourites games on the GBA. (And i still own them!)

I own Path of Radiance on the GC but it didn't have the same impression on me. Characters like Ike, Titania, Oscar and Mordecai (Those are just a few I remember) I enjoyed but I think that may be partially due to my overpowering them. xD I dunno what it was, but it didn't really suit the GC. I still enjoyed it though.

Now Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon I did not enjoy and I never got very far in it. Simply because I don't like killing off my team so I can make room for new team mates. Sure I use the same members over and over again but I don't like to lose any members. If someone dies I have to restart the map and try something different. That cap on members annoyed me.

Gosh, I want to play some Fire Emblem now.

The ****? I can't save everyone? What kind of crap is that? There go my chances of playing that game again.

I did post a pack up there with the sixth game in English in it. It is included in the second file on that tutorial. The main lord is Eliwood's son Roy from Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword.

I had played Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword for the GBA some years ago, but as you said, it was in Japanese and I never got into it much.
Is it a typical RPG? What are its unique elements?

It is a Strategy RPG. Virtually any Tactics game (like Final Fantasy Tactics, Onimusha Tactics, etc.) will take a form reminiscent of this series. The basic gameplay has you moving your characters across a grid, taking turns with the enemy force and trying to complete whatever objective you have at the moment (defeating all enemies, defeating the boss, surviving for a certain amount of turns, etc.). I would call it a kind of RPG chess.

What you may have played might have been Fire Emblem: Sword of Seals, and not Blazing Sword, because Blazing Sword has been available in English for years. It was the first in the series to be released in the UK and USA. See the link in my first post for English versions of all three GBA games.

I've only played the GBA versions, recently I was thinking about getting the latest DS one: Shadow Dragon. Since I don't own the GBA ones anymore, I'm pretty sure I've lost them -___-. Other than that the games are fun, not once did I ever get bored playing them, although I haven't played them in a long while I wouldn't mind buying them again, since their such great games.

See my tutorial here on how to download and play them. I have all three in English in the second link there. Have fun with them, if you do try it...

I love the Fire Emblem games. Sacred Stones was my first one and though I've never finished it, I always enjoyed playing it because the story is so entertaining with drama and twists and turns. The characters are so lovable though I do get annoyed when they fail to dodge an attack. I always played the game on normal mode and maybe it's because I'm a poor strategist, but I always find the levels so ahrd to complete since I, like Kitty, can't continue if a single person dies, if a village is destroyed, if an item is stolen by a thief, if I could steal something from someone but they get killed, and if a potential defector gets killed. Thus, it takes me hours of retries to finally pass a level.

I do this, but I have gotten very good at it with time. I have gotten to the point of restarting if I get a bad level up. It is my principle reason for doing so now.

I've played the one with Lyn and the Sacred Stones. I love playing the games and I love getting all the kinds of allies you can get. I loved how in Sacred Stones you had a choice on what the person could turn into. Yet, I didn't like that once you beat the game you pretty much had to start a new one or watch the ending cutscene. I'm guessing you like druids?

I really loved the GBA Fire Emblem games. The console ones...not so much. I mean, I'd have to say that the story is really extensive.

I personally loved Lyn's story the most. It was kinda contained. I did prefer Sacred Stone's freedom, but I kinda liked the other's characters a bit more.

I remember playing the old GBA Fire Emblem games. They were pretty fun and involved a good amount of skill to master. Sacred Stones was my favorite. Mostly because I always had perfect runs with all of my characters still alive.

I've played through Path of Radiance many numbers of times. Probably more than ten. On all difficulties. Ike being my best character on all of them. I've just recently bough Radiant Dawn and I'm looking forward to playing it.

Pft. I made that for this occasion. You want me to buy a website instead?

Never used one before, but I do like them as characters. Planning to this time around.
