Final Fantasy XIII: Slaves of Fate

Mia sighed and went back to her bed. "Sorry, Snow.......... Sorry I was crazy to take on the Crystal l'Cie by myself and getting beat by them in front of you and Lighting..... Guess I need a little more training to protect this place........"

 

Mya followed them and really didn't say much. All she knew was that they were all in danger and time was short. If they destroyed Cocoon, eveything will be a lost cause. She just listened for something intresting to happen.

 

"Right now you're just bait for the others," Omega replied, "Otherwise it would've been up to the fal'Cie Dahaka to decide what to do with you. But he's dead, so it's up to Titan." Having already reached the tower, he circled his way to the top to scout the interior tiers. Her tears glimmered in the sunlight as he checked on her condition. "What are you crying about? You weren't the one who woke up alone after 500 years into a world forsaken of human life while unable to accept that your dream of watching everyone die or becoming Cie'th actually happened at the time you dreamt it." Forgotten emotions and memories of that time stirred within him. His hatred towards the fal'Cie, the stillness and silence of wandering the world alone, killing his now Cie'th friends with some as the Undying, the disappointment of seeing his siblings still in stasis for so long, etc. "Damn you fal'Cie..." he muttered under his breath.

 

Lightning grimaced when Snow spoke of his new plan, "Send them alone? To Cocoon? But the Cocoon fal'Cie...they may work peacefully to aid mankind now, but I remember Bartandalus. I...if they can prove they can do it. I'll allow this. Dealing with the Santum isn't for the weakhearted." She went back to healing Ryou and nodded to them, "It's our only plan so it's a good plan. As long as we're moving forward, we're changing fate."

Akira vigorously nodded, "Great. Umm, how do we decide how to split up? If Light and Snow are going to save Jenny, one of us will have to be a leader for the others." Akira sighed, she had no idea if she should help save Jenny or go to the Sanctum.

 

Ryou could tell Light was hesitant with Snow's new plan but what she said afterwards was true as he felt the healing procress continue, soon it felt like that no pain or serious wounds were on him as he could feel his srength returning thanks to being relaxed as he felt he was completely back to full strength as he grabbed Light's wrist gently, getting her attention.

"That's enough, thank you Light" Ryou said kindly as he sat up, he felt good as new even if it did take some time for the magic to sink in as he smiled at her as he checked his surroundings once, he knew where he was, he was in his home, he coldn't quite tell from his body going into a near shock and listened to Akira's question.

 

Noah could smell the scent of battle in the air, he just wasnt sure what direction it was coming from. Thus he kept a steady place running along the craggy plateau taking in the sights around him, the native creatures getting into tiny scuttles for food or chasing each other around for fun. He couldnt believe the sights to behold on Gran Pulse, how much bigger the world was outside of his crowded forest home, it was breathtaking and a little overwhelming. What was left of his home, that giant pillar in the distance, was nothing but a distant cluster of memories, some good but most bad. Noah snapped free of his trance like state and focused on this new obstacle in front of him, "Time to climb!" he shouted happily giggling slightly as he launched himself toward the massive wall that stood in his way. He scaled the wall with deadly agility and skill and when he reached the top he never skipped a beat and took off for the opposite end of the wall where he would try to scout out his next move. The call of an Amphisbaena high in the sky distracted him while and he ran and when he turned back he almost ran straight off the edge, when he saw them.

Down in the valley below a massive Behemoth King and a Megistotherian were locked in a ferocious duel. "Sooooo, thats what i smelled earlier" he murmured to himself "Well i guess i've got to pick a favorite to win" He inhaled deeply and steadied his feet on the ground letting out a booming yell and jumping happily up and down "GO BEHEMOTH, BOO WOLF GUY!!!!!" He made a possibly fatal error though as the earth under him gave way and he started to fall towards the ground drawing the attention of the 2 beasts, he grabbed onto one of the larger pieces of debris and aimed it at the ground to soften his landing. When the dust cleared he was face to face......to face with the monsters. He started to laugh and tried to stifle it "Oh boy! I'm in trouble now, It's been awhile since i had a good fight!" As he said this he jumped forward into the fray about to strike the behemoth with his powerful fist when out of the corner of his eye he saw the Megistotherian lift his massive paw and lunge towards him "WHOA!" he yelled as he cartwheeled to the side, but it was of no use the claw connected with his arm leaving 3 large bloody gashs in it's place. Noah stood up and a look of fear began to show on his face which he immediately hid behind a plastic smile. Then the pain set in, it sent a shock rocketing through his entire system and he could barely find the strength to stand up. Noah was certain this was his end, the beasts were closing in on him and he began to lose hope fast.

"KWEHHHHHH!!!!!" This sound broke through the panic and reached his ears and that horrible smell hit his nose making him cringe. "I hope those Chocobos don't come over here, for their sake, I don't want to see them hurt" But then something else occured, there were 2 more scents, almost human like paired with those chocobo, although they seemed slightly malicious they were his only hope now "HELP PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!" He screamed out, and now he could only wait.

 

Freyja sighed loudly and jumped off her chocobo, bribing it with greens from nearby to make sure it stayed put nearby instead of running away while Freyja ran off towards the scene of the fight, walking at a quickened pace as she pulled the rifle off her back and began to lock it.
" Fine then, if that is what you really want. I'd rather not having these two picking off any traveling potential prey, but eh it's your call."
She said as she perched herself a top a small rocky hill and stood there watching them tussle from a distance as she loaded the gun's chamber with steel piercing bullets. Freyja clinched another packet of bullets in her teeth while her hands were busy preparing the gun and then finally she locked it again and slid the extra packet into her belt and flung the barrel up as she aimed at the head of her "assigned" beast without using a scope and pulled the trigger. There was one loud bang followed by a windy echo then after that a shriek filled the air, the result of the creature being caught by surprise, it's eye banged up pretty bad by the long distance shot.

"Bait?" Jenny repeated, confused. "You mean..." It took her a few moments to piece together what Omega was implying, "You..you want those people to come? The ones from Oerba?" She couldn't figure out what was so special about them. She heard the younger ones refer to the older ones as "Snow" and "Lightning," just like the l'Cie from so long ago in the stories...Wait, could that be them? She thought to herself. The books did say they lived in Oerba and had disappeared one day, along with Snow's wife. People just assumed they decided to live a quieter life without celebrity status and moved away. That's what she had learned in school after all. Her head started to hurt. "Ugh.." She muttered as she raised a hand to her forehead. "What...what do you have against the fal'Cie? Do you hate them for making you a l'Cie? Making you a monster?" She tone had dropped slightly, taking a more ominous tone, but she groaned as she held her head.

"But he's gone, right? We took care of him and Orphan!" Snow reminded Lightning, a boastful expression on his face. "Besides, people take the Eden Elevator all the time, don't they? Their only problem is that they have a lot of walking to do, but I bet they can take care of some small monsters, right guys?" Snow asked, turning his head to the others. He was sure they could take the smaller flans, goblins, maybe even a few automatons. As long as they stayed away from Cieth and the larger monsters, they should be alright.

Leo nodded. Snow had a point. They did just take down a Behemoth. It was true that Lightning did most of the work, but they helped. They should be able to get to the Eden Elevator and up to Cocoon without a problem., if they avoided the more dangerous monsters. Leo's mind, however, was on what Akira said. He thought about their encounter with Omega. Grey was the only one who did some decent damage to the Crystal l'Cie and had managed to sneak up on him. It seemed that out all the trainees, Grey might be the toughest. Behind him...maybe Akira? Leo was sure he was on Ryou's level, but he was disappointed that there it was clear he wasn't the best. "Grey...should go to Cocoon," he whispered Grey's name, but spoke up. "He's the best fighter here. He can take care of the rest!" Leo pointed out. It would make sense to send Grey with Snow and Lightning, but as the best fighter, he would definitely be able to help fight off monsters. "I...I want to go save Jenny with you," Leo's voice shook as his hand trembled, Heretic in its grip. I didn't do anything to help...I want to make up for it! His thoughts were loud, but only to himself.

"Whoa!" Cid couldn't believe his eyes. A small boy had fell from the cliff, right in the center of the Crystal l'Cie's new "opponents." Tiny idiot should die, he thought to himself, grimacing as he brought out his chain scythe, one in each hand. However, his conscience wouldn't let it happen. He did not want to see the Behemoth rip a tiny boy to shreds. Now if he was a PSICOM officer perhaps..."What are you doing?!" Cid growled as he appeared in front of Noah, blocking the Behemoth's claw with both his blades in an X pattern. "Are you stupid, boy? This thing'll stick a fork in you and have you done for dinner!" He said, confusing a phrase like he normally did. He pushed the Behemoth King off of him and threw his right scythe forward. Using the left one as a handle, he whipped it, slashing the Behemoth across the head. A loud roar later and the Behemoth King was on two legs, a sword in his hand. "Oh great, see what you made me do?!" He yelled behind him. He hoped Freyja was having better luck with her foe, but still hoped she wouldn't kill it.

Mya continued to listen. She had not objections nor comments to say about the plan. They were probably the smartest as well so arguing won't go anwhere.

The look on Noah's face quickly changed from fear to relief to amazement and then settled on admiration as he watched his savior in action. "Who......are......you?" he breathed out. He stood on his feet with renewed vigor and broke into a fit of laughter ignoring the clear anger directed at him "Hahahah! Wow mister your SO cool!" suddenly collapsing to the ground again as another sharp pain from his wound ripped through his body "Ow...." he whined out shedding a single tear "I've really got to be more careful."

 

Lightning closed her eyes and stood up from Ryou's side. She was getting a headache from Snow's over excitement about this. "Snow, I know what you're going to say. But we can't let Leo come with us. We should bring the strongest trainee's to fight the crystal l'Cie. I'm not letting Omega do what he did to Ryou to Leo." She turned icy blue eyes on Leo and gave him her usual hard look, "Look, if we bring you, you'll only slow us down. Who knows what he's doing to Jenny. Besides if you went then I just know..." She broke off and looked at Akira. Wherever Leo when, she seemed to follow. "No, Akira. You're not going. He could've killed you. I won't let you go and that's final."

Akira pouted and sulked. "But...I don't want to run away and warn the Sanctum. I want to help, Light. Let me go too." She looked at Ryou, if he would go anywhere she was guessing it would be to Sanctum instead of Omega. Touching Lionheart, she had to be brave, "I can do this Light. Let me go, let me prove to you I can. Snow?" she turned her big brown eyes on the other l'Cie, hoping he'd let her go.

 

Ryou brought his legs over the side of the bed, listening to Snow's suggestion of monsters that they could bring down while Lighting also suggested that the strongest trainees to fight Omega as he heard Leo's suggestion of Grey being the leader who actually done anything to Omega then he saw Akira stare at him briefly and back to Lighting as she pleaded to Snow about joining them.

"Light's just trying to do what's best for us, if I was left alone after Omega's attack, I'd probbably wouldn't even be here, even though I trained before Light and Snow arrived in Oerba, but like they also said, the Sanctum needs informing, if Omega can easily beat us then he can do much worse, he also could of been holding back." He suggested and stood up. "But Light and Snow can decide the teams, like Light said, the strong should fight Omega since they have a better chance at surviving the ordeal while the others inform Cocoon, saving a life is also something important, we all can't be heroes by choosing what we really want." He voiced loudly.

Leo felt defeated, but good would it do to argue anymore? He looked around. He had grown somewhat attached to the other trainees, especially Ryou. It didn't take long for him to change his mind, but he still fought for his cause. "Then what the hell have you been training us for?" He yelled at Lightning, showing his anger for the first time. "To just sit back and play with monsters? You are not alone and we are not helpless!" He said as he waved his sword around. "This was our first fight, our first experience with an actual Crystal l'Cie, of course we wouldn't do so great! It'll be better next time, you'll see! But you're saving Jenny then. Take Grey, I'll go to Cocoon with the others. But you're not going alone," he said, showing a leadership side. "Mya can go with you, too. And Akira. Lynnea, Mia, and me can go to Cocoon alone. Even Ryou if he's feeling better."

Snow couldn't help but smile. Leo was growing up. He even split everyone up. "Well, alright. Looks like you got this all figured out," he said patting Leo on the shoulder. "Grey and Mya will come to us. Akira....that's up to Light," he said, looking towards the former soldier.

"None of your freaking business," Cid told the boy as the Behemoth King slashed at him. Cid jumped in the air, higher than humanly possibly, and whipped the chain again, slashing it. "Back off," Cid growled at the Behemoth, but it kept attacking him. Cid's body started glowing as he repeated himself. "I said..back off," his growl was louder as his body got brighter. "Leave him alone!" Cid's body crystallized itself, his left arm, middle of his chest, and face being the only skin shown. His right arm was now a large claw. He flew forward and placed his hand on the Behemoth's chest, before it could react, and shoved it. The Behemoth was surprised at his strength and flew back, flying over the cliff. Damn it...he saw my l'Cie form, Cid said, looking back at the boy.




OOC: With Mya in one group and Mia in the other, there should be less confusion xD

Ryou rubbed his own hair out of a small habit, Leo was right in what he said, the original plan of this training regiment was to defeat opponents like the Crystal I'Cie as he thought about it, he guessed that along the way, the training made Light and Snow slowly forget the first purpose behind the training and just considered them to be protected.

"If that's what we all agree on, then let's go for it." He said as he stood u, straightening his clothes. "Besides, I'm already better enough as it is so don't constantly worry about me," He said before he realised something, his top was ruined as he mentally facepalmed himself. "Best another shirt..." He thought to himself, his daito was on the side since someone brought it back as he walked to a drawer and pulled it, getting out the same shirt but in a unruined condition as he realised the others were still in his house as he grabbed the hem of his ruined shirt.

"...Whoa...I almost forgot there's women in here." he thought to himself in relief.

 

Lightning scowled at Leo. Normally she'd have hit the boy but he remined her of Hope. She kept her blue eyes calm as she looked at Akira, "Akira, I don't want you to get hurt, but I know you and you'll want to go where I go, don't you?" She folded her arms and waited for her answer. Light would need to hit something soon, or go insane.

Akira shook her head and held her arm, "I'll go with you Light. I want to become stronger and I can't do that very well fighting things I know I can beat. I need to do this. You...understand right?" Akira waited until Lightning nodded. She hugged Leo, "Don't get yourself hurt, okay?" she blushed and let go of him. "Sorry, I don't want anyone to get hurt." She silently vowed she'd be stronger and that she'd make sure it came true.

 

Mia looked at them and sighed. They knew each other, but she didn't. While Lighting and Snow trained the others, she was always training by herself. "Thanks, Leo, for including me...... I always used to train by myself while you guys trained with Lighting and Snow........" Mia looked out the window, the only time she went to Cocoon was when she met Lighting and Snow and to visit the crystal tower.

 

Ryou headed out of the room as he felt the sun upon him as he sighed. "Can't change in there with the girls inside my own house." He said to himself and walked beind the house, pulling off his ruined shirt revealing a reasonbly built body from the training, it wasn't too much or too little, just a reasonble build that suited him as he hung the ruined shirt on something nearby and put the new one on himself and then his black jacket as he grabbed the ruined shirt off and re-entered teh house, hearing them still talking.

 

"Last I checked, I was created as a l'Cie. You already know that, don't you Ult-" He caught himself before finishing the sentence. It was her sudden change in tone that put him off guard. You're just like her: Ultima. It's been a while since you were awake, hasn't it? he thought to himself. At the top of the tower he landed in an open area of the apex and sets Jenny on the floor. "Now, where are they..." he said as he walked over to peer over the tower's edge. A small flash of reflected light could be seen far off in the distance near Cocoon. The Crystal L'Cie army would reach the crystal tower soon, but were still a ways off from it. Omega breathed out a sigh of annoyance and disappointment. "There they go off without me," he complained. But he quickly changes his attitude to a more positive one. "Oh well. They'll all die in the attack anyway. This probably was the better choice. I wonder what's going on with Cid right now..." He looked over to Jenny. "You know, if your head hurts, you'll have to deal with it. I'm not a Medic." Omega continues to observe the l'Cie army. Boredom starts to sink in. Now to wait for Lightning and Snow to get here. Too bad there's no fal'Cie or a normal l'Cie around so that they could summon an Eidolon.

 

"Well thats not very nice..." Noah yelled to the man as he fought "But i guess since you saved my life its not really up to me what kind of courtesy you show."

Upon seeing the crystallized form burst forth, Noah audibly gasped in amazement and his eyes seemed to gleam as he set his gaze on the claw. "That looks pretty dangerous" He said in a drawn out manner "What other fun tricks do you have?" At this point Noah was starting to ignore the pain and he ripped part of his shirt to wrap around his arm to stop the bleeding "I'm gonna need some medical assistance for this later......or i might....." He gulps sarcastically and comically "Die."
