Final Fantasy XIII: Slaves of Fate

Jaden raised his arm into the air, showing off his own brand that was on the underside of his wrist. "Well, you know I freaking well am!" he yelled out. After all... didn't I just say all that.

Linegia just looked at Cid and nodded. There is more to it than that, I'm sure. then she looked at Grey. "Make sure you remember your place. You're a tool, just as I am, and even Cidolfu here. All you need to care about is completing your focus."

 

Ren threw himself back onto his feet, approaching Leo as Jaden had.
"Now, those are words I can get behind!" he said, a slight grin on his face.
In truth, he wasn't entirely convinced. He wasn't sure if he was going to act on his focus or not, but in any case being with these guys was his best chance at... anything, really.

Byron nodded, signalling to them that he, too, was 'in'.
"We're what's left of Oerba now. We stick together."

 

On the way out of Phantom Oerba, Omega pointed out a bizarre portal off to the right. "Oh, should you ever come back here for some reason or another, do not by any means enter there," he pointed out, "That portal leads to the Darkness Beyond Time, which explains why time is so messed up here in the village. It's the trash heap of discarded timelines due to paradoxes and the like. And it's not just timelines from Gran Pulse. There are timelines from every single dimension in there, past, present, and future."

Leaving Phantom Oerba, Shinryu found Omega and himself immediately inside a dark cavern. Time seemed to progress here, seeing as there was rushing water blocking their paths every now and then. Dragons...It's been a while... Then he felt a slight disturbance in the air, along with something like the beating of wings, extremely far off in the distance.

 

Mogryo flicked his brown furry ears, "I dunno what you're talking about much, but the pink haired lady told me to stick with you guys." His little head tilted to the side as he felt Lightning's situation turn tense. "Kupo..."

The elevator came to a jerking stop. Light's eyes opened, "Hm?" The doors were pried open and Lightning could see she had reached the top. Before her stood a large group of Watchdrones. "Hmph, you wanna fight? Fine... Let's shake things up." Her threat lurked in her eyes as she flicked her gunblade into it's form she wanted. A Watchdrone moved to lash out at her and she slashed through it's tentacle arm and finally through it's body. "Heh, not even worth my time." A Watchdrone slid past her and lashed out at her back. Turning deftly, Light blocked it's attack and partially summoned Oden. His weapon fell into her hands, lightning crackling around it's spiked edges. "Who're you watching!" Rushing straight through the Watchdrone, Lightning skidded to a stop as it fell apart behind her and Oden's weapon disappeared from her hands. She felt her body shift from a Commando Role to her Ravager Role and let her anger and frustration surge through her in the form of Fira. Watching three more Watchdrones melt, Light noticed a not so subtle shift in their behavior. A few Pantheron's padded into the fray. Their mechanical talons clicking on the ground. Lightning shifted her boots and bent her knees slightly. "Hm, might break a sweat."

Akira nodded. "Yeah...but...what is our Focus? And...will Light come back? Wh-what are we gonna do?"

 

Kross looked, observing his surroundings. He felt the ground shake just briefly, there was definitely something going on and he intended to find out. He ran, watching the terrain to make sure he would not fall, at his pace, it would be a bad idea. He paused at the sounds of battle, out of breath and in hiding."Man..what should I do now..I know I'll get my good suit ruined if I help.."He murmured.

 

Ryou sta upon a rock that was perhapspart of the landscape for maybe many years or such as he breathed, he just kept on walking in one direction, surpriseingly, no Pulse creatures have dared approach him or perhaps they were hunting other species?

"What I wouldn't give for s speech right now." he thought to himself in perhaps sarcasm, he has to curse that all-out fight and seperating him from everyone. "The next village shouldn't be far, but the question is, is it in ruins like home or is it still standing?" He thought to hismelf, staring at his daito he stabbed into the ground his hands resting upon it."No rest for the wicked..." He thought as he forced himself back up to restart his walk.

"I should probably keep my head down and not saymuch and maybe get somethign to disguise myself, if that Argent is lookign for I'Cie, he'd have a better target in me than the others... Or Jenny for that matter." he thought to himself.

 

Lightning kept re-summoning Oden's weapons to her hands and changing from Commando and Ravager, slicing through Pantheron after Pantheron and Watchdrone. Having them disappear for a moment, Light rushed forwards, her feet skidding across the ground as she forced her momentum to spin herself in a forward pattern, "Dodge this!" Her blitz attack, cleared a path through them. Freezing the few remaining Pantheron's with a Blizzara, Lightning turned her attention to progressing. Blood rushed through her ears, but dulled for a brief moment as she heard a young girl's cry. A little girl was trapped underneath a Pantheron's body, it's claws had pierced through the young child's leg when it fell. Gently shoving it off her, Light picked up the girl and carried her towards Sanctum. "You'll be alright." Everything seemed quiet for a moment as she made progress towards Sanctum's doors. The ground shook...and again. Stopping, Lightning looked around for the source, the little girl clutching her neck. Around the corner, a Behemoth ravaged the ground with it's talons. "Some things in life you just do."

 

Linegia didn't even look at Grey as a tendril shot out from her dress and wrapped itself around his neck, lifting him off his feet and into the air.
"First of all, you should consider yourself lucky that as a tool, I cannot kill you... However, you will show Cidolfu some respect. Mutter a stupid name like 'Crystal-head' again and... I will break every bone in your body in the most painful way possible and then heal you just so I can do it again."
She then turned her head to him and walked closer but still kept him in place in the air, the feeling of her murderous intent filling the air with a thick tension that he would surely be able to feel just through eye contact. "Further more... I don't care if you wish to insult me, but do try to remember that I can snap you like a twig any time. ...As long as I don't kill you. We won't have an issue." she finally let her grip slacken on the tendril and dropped Grey back to where he had been standing moments ago, the tendril retreated back to the source and she turned her head away from him like she was no longer interested in the insect that he truly was to her.

 

Kross felt the ground shake underneath him, almost stumbling and blinked, dropping to one knee as it shook again, putting his hand to the ground to balance himself."Cripes, what on earth is that..?"He murmured, wincing at the terrible roar and stood up quickly."Ahhhhh crud..this is going to get nasty."

 

Mya smiled and stepped forward. I'm in this all the way no matter the outcome. Like I say, the more the merrier. We won't go down without a fight right?

 

OOC: Kross, not sure if you know, but Ryo is supposed to head towards your character to give you some interaction

Leo nodded. "Light will be fine," he told Akira, but he was unsure. They were to regroup and recover...but where? If they followed Lightning, they'd most likely end up at Cocoon...l'Cie-frenzy central and home of the Calvary? The last thing they needed was to have their face plastered across Cocoon as wanted criminals. Even if they made it, could they handle Cocoon's army? Even with Belias and Alexander...and the new l'Cie and Angel, could they do it? But what else could they do? "I say we vote now," he said, looking around. "We obviously can't regroup to Oerba. If we take out Jenny...we need a plan. So, what's our first move?"

Cid smiled. "Oh, what a tangled web we weave," he said as he walked past Grey. "You want to know my Focus, kid? It's to save someone. And I plan on doing that. But, to do that...you need to complete your Focus. And I know, just how to do that."

 

Lightning sidestepped the Behemoth several times to keep the girl protected. "Hmph, where's the precious Sanctum now? Here to protect your civilians, huh?" Out of the door behind her, several Cieth lumbered out. Lightning gritted her teeth and kept the girl close to her. "Don't worry...I've got this under control..." Backing away, Lightning kept her eyes moving from Cieth to Behemoth to Cieth. They can't be all Cieth...there has to be some left. Lightning sheathed her gunblade. There was no use fighting with a sword when getting up close was dangerous. Thundaga crackled in her fingers. Setting it free on a group of Cieth, Light dashed through them, jumping over one and landing on the back of another. She sprinted inside Sanctum's headquarters with Cieth on her heels. "Back off!" Tossing a set of Fira's back towards them.

Akira jumped up, her blue eyes glittering, "As much as going after Light sounds appealing, even if it may be a suicide mission...we should do as she instructed. Regroup somewhere. Though....where is the question."

 

After crossing another rushing stream, Omega found himself upon Masamune still pierced into the rock where it was last seen, though it had a much, much more ancient look to it now. As he began to pull it out of the ground, the blade snapped in half. "Errgh...I knew that the Blood Sword could stand the test of time, but you? You don't live up to you're name," he said to the broken sword. He pulled the rest of the blade out from the stone. "But what can I expect from a Cocoon-made sword? They're better known for their firearms." Although he was very tempted to just leave the remains here, he decided to keep them for some later use and turned around to go back.

So...you talk to your swords? That's odd of you. Shinryu looked at him strangely. In all the time that he's ever spent with Omega, he's never seen this side of him. It was weird, and maybe a bit puzzling. The boy started to wonder what other sides of him that he keeps to himself.

 

Lightning flinched from the explosion behind her and cast her icy glare at Argent. "The only one leaving, here that I see... is you." She held her ground and took a single step foward. Setting the little girl clutched around her neck on the ground she unsheathed her gunblade. "Only idiotic leaders of Sanctum would think like that. Other civillians live down on Gran Pulse other than people who lived there before. There are those who aren't afraid, unlike you." Taking another step, Light lifted a hand, magic glowed in her palm for a moment before covering her. Protect and Shell shimmered around her. "True skill? Hmph, this isn't the time for jokes. I came here to talk, not fight like barbarians."

 

Lightning rolled her eyes and set a hand on her hip. "Heh, look who's acting tough. Fine, you want me to talk, I'll talk. Crystal l'Cie destroyed Oerba. They've been amassing an army under a fal'Cie that's playing under the name of Jenny. I don't know what her real name is, but she's bound to destroy Cocoon. This isn't something one l'Cie can do!" Light knelt beside the little girl she'd saved and wrapped a linen towel around her leg. "There, you'll be alright." Standing, Lightning glowered at Argent's back. "If anything, would you at least help this little girl? It wouldn't have mattered what you threw at me, I'm not going to stop until I find Serah."
