Final Fantasy XIII: Slaves of Fate

The light from Holy dulled his senses for a few seconds while it was eroding his body, blood dripping out from small cracks in his skin. "Oh, well that was slightly nostalgic. Not quite up there with Ultima or Alexander, though, but not mediocre either," Omega commented on the spell as his senses returned. "I'm curious. Do you keep track of the total human population of Cocoon and have it updated on a daily basis? Also..." he asked her before proceeding to backhand her in the face to knock her off him, "...it's very rude to sit on either a guest or a host. It gives others bad impression of you, regardless if you care or not."

Seeing Leo enter the field with his Eidolon reminded Shinryu of the power he once wielded. The power to rain down devastation and ruin to the entire planet. The power to end to all things eternal. The power to instill fear to all life, even the gods themselves, by just hearing his name. That is what he missed. He knew that deep inside him it was still there, asleep with no way of waking. But with Omega around, most likely keeping an eye on him from time to time, regaining that lost power's just a dream. The boy sighed. Maybe it's for the best that it doesn't happen. "Adapt or Die," as they say. And I'm not planning on dying here. His attention focused off Grey and to the army, as they were the higher threat.

 

Jaden looked on as Leo had his moment of awesome.
And then he whistled. "I gotta get me one of those..."
He then looked at Grey who was... just standing there, apparently ignoring Shinryu who didn't seem to be worth his time. "So what's this now? You that much of a ****** to just switch sides?" Jaden shrugged.
"Well, after we're done with ALL of these guys!" Jaden called out, to emphasize he meant the whole of the Cavalry.
"I'll knock some sense into you." he nodded at Grey. "So don't you dare run away. These guys'll be my warm up." he added... and the thing is with Jaden... you could tell, at least in his own mind. He wasn't exaggerating with his intention.

The girl was knocked off of Omega, but didn't seem to care that she had just been backhanded.
"Host? Guest? But... is this a social gathering then?"
Ignore him... you're just going to confuse yourself.
"Mm'kay!" she then thought about his question on the population of Cocoon.
"Um... do we?" she asked Linegia.
"I mean, do we have some sort of charts for that or something?"
No... again... just focus here... Linegia sighed in her mind.
"Mm'kay!" she chirped, "Although! We really should consider charts!"
...Focus..
The girl then decided to address what Omega had said about her Holy Spell. "Oh, me was holding back." she grinned, an expression that seemed truly odd on the face of the normally none-expressive girl, she seemed to have completely forgotten that she was in a battle. "I've been told I should be careful about how far I go. After all, Lin is the one who wants to finish you, so I couldn't very well kill you." she added, still completely distracted.
...I'm going to take control again. Linegia told her. At this rate... you're going to take all day just to 'start' fighting again.
"...Doh.. but Mm'kay. Are you calm now?"
Yeah... I only want to kill him as much as I did before now.
"Oh! Mm'kay! That's good then." she said, understanding the impulse to kill that Linegia had was just completely normal, and then...
"I apologise for the inconvenience." Lin spoke, in control again.
So how are you going to kill him?
"I'm thinking about it." Linegia told the in voice, her regular expressionless face back to how it normally was. Originally, it had only been her intention to stop Omega from interrupting what needed to be done.
But now... she really was considering killing him. Of course... it depended on if her master still intended to 'use' Omega for her plans... of course... if Omega was deemed a 'non-compliant tool' then it might be best to eliminate him.
Either way... right now, fighting him amounted to the same thing, and that was stalling him and stopping him from reaching the other 'tools'.

 

"Naivete and innocence. Such is the mind of youth."
"Grey's the definition of ******," Leo told Jaden as he soon found himself surrounded by a group of Calvary soldiers, each with a weapon. "Listen, don't take it personally," he said as he raised his Gunblade and twisted it into an awkward battle position, "I hate to do this, I really do," he pulled the trigger back and switched to his Commando role, "But Snow isn't here to protect my friends anymore, so the job's left to me," his eyes flashed determination and newfound confidence, "It really has nothing to do with you guys, but we need to escape. So...sorry." At his apology, a rain of lasers fired at him. Leo's reflexes were quick; he ducked and spun, avoiding the first flurry of lasers, and almost danced to the nearest soldier. He used his weapon as a shield and pulled the trigger. The blade vibrated as lasers hit it and caused the lasers to deflect. "Wanna help, Lightning? You're better at this than me!" He yelled as he spun again, slamming the dull edge of his Gunblade against the officer's helmet. ​

 

Mia looked around and realized it would take a miracle or something to stop the Calvary. She fell to her knees and shook her head, thinking to herself, 'There's no way we can beat them like this. At least, only two out of all us l'Cie have their Eidolons, but it's not enough. We have to beat to them somehow, but how........' Angel looked at Mia, she was knelt down to the ground, holding her head. Angel gasped when she saw a circle of green light appeared underneath Mia, the circle had unusual and strange symbols while Mia was in the middle. Mia screamed in pain as she put her hands on her neck, where her l'Cie brand was, Mia felt a unbearable burning from her brand. Mia stopped when a voice speak in her head.

By the grace of Etro, stand fast your walls of stern judgment. Come forth, fortress of sanctity. ​

Two large gold and white hands appeared out of the ground, both larger than Mia's whole body. A head, if one could call it that, appeared, the only visible part of the face were the eyes, the mouth was covered by two marks that made it look like a mustache, on top of the head was some kind of crown-looking item. Mia looked at the large shadow over her and turned around.

Fortified virtue. Shattered iniquity.​

Gasping at the giant, Mia wondered if this was she hoped it was. Angel also looked in surprise, and looked at Mia, wondered how did she summoned it. Mia gripped her spear and stood her ground. For a moment, the giant stood still until it looked at Mia.

A name in blood, a pact of light. Alexander shall rise, his bond eternal and unyielding.​

'So, its name is Alexander, huh?' Mia thought to herself as Alexander brought one of its hand down and slammed it on the ground. Mia dodged and turned to the others, "Guys, you take care of the Calvary!!!!! I have a little Eidolon taming to do!!!!!" Angel sighed and ran to help the others. Mia looked at Alexander, 'Alright, lets do this.'

 

"Holy--!" Ren began as he saw the giant rise from the ground.
"Well... I guess things might be a little easier now." he said, refering to the fact that the Eidolon Alexander had arrived.
It certainly looked tough, having such huge arms and all. Not something he would want baring down on him.

"Except that Eidolons normally turn on their masters before submitting." Byron explained between dodging gunfire.

Ren's face dropped at hearing that. He had heard it before, of course, but had completely forgotten in the rush of gunfire.
"I don't like you. You bring bad news!" he said, though it was more akin to the complaining of a small child than an actual declaration of dislike.

"I get that a lot." he replied simply, spinning his knives around in his hands for no apparent practical reason except to keep himself ready.
"Believe me, you'll be glad for my help later."

 

Mia jumped out of the way of another of Alexander's attacks. She heard Byron say that Eidolons turn on their masters before submitting, and groaned. "Hey, pal! Maybe you can help me than, since you know so much!" Though in her mind, she didn't expect her Eidolon to be Alexander, Mia just accepted that fact and ran up on the arm when it was in sight. She jumped up and slashed at Alexander, to do little damage.

 

Mya turned around to see Alexander fighting Mia. She ran to her side. Need some help? She buffed herself and Mia before switching to her Commando and started firing upon Alexander.

OOC: BTW, do Eidlons place doom counters on the owners just like the game?

 

Lightning snapped from her distant memories and lurched forward, toward Leo and the Calvary. "I've got your back!" Although also in her Commando role, Lightning cast Protect on herself and Leo. "I see you've grown stronger Leo...Snow would be proud." she spared an affectionate look for him and snapped her fingers. With this many soldiers her EMF would work nicely to her advantage. Jumping, Light knocked a weapon out of one soldier's hands and shot another as her gunblade flipped effortlessly between forms.

A brief moment when she looked up she saw Alexander...Hope's Eidolin. Hope... the distraction nearly cost her her life. She dropped down in a crouch to avoid being shot.

Akira was still stunned by Grey's switching of sides. "Grey...why? Why now? This is so....unbelievable. We were in this together! We were going to save the world! The world Lightning and Snow and everyone else worked so hard to protect!"

 

"A little help would nice!" Mia shouted to her, as she groaned. Angel ran up and attacked Alexander, both attacks did little damage, Mia ran up and attacked again. Angel looked at her, Mia sighed and smiled, gripping her spear.

 

Ren sighed audibly.
"What am I, the cavalry?" he said, completely missing the awful pun he had just made as he stepped to the girl's side, firing a few standard rounds of his weapon at the Eidolon.
"Come on then, let's take care of this before it gets nasty."

That leaves these guys to me. the ex-villager thought to himself, readying his knives as he stared down a platoon of soldiers. It's just a shame I can't go all out of these Coccoon Bastards.
He ran into the crowd ahead of him, a flurry of knife-edge and fire magic as he spewed Fira in every direction he could. He didn't even care how much of it hit, but there's something terrifying about fire that he wanted to use to his advantage if possible.
"Don't think I'm anything like those others." Byron barked at the Cavalry soldiers around him. "I won't even think about letting any of you live."

 

Mia somersaulted and jumped into the air, bringing her spear down on the Eidolon. Alexander appeared to slow down each time she hit it, and it was hit by the others. With a grin, she shouted to the others, "Keep attacking the way you are!!! This way the Eidolon will go down with ease!!!" Angel continued to attack with her rod. Mia jumped again and slashed.

 

Mya started buffering her friends more until they were fully buffed and then continued shooting it, feeling a bit nervous. It could be me, but it hasn't done much. I feel a bit worried. She continued attacking, carefully watching its movements.

 

"Time to end this." Mia said, holding out her spear and focusing her magic. A bright ball of light appeared at the tip of her spear, Mia ran forward and swung her spear, tossing the ball to Alexander. Alexander held out its hand to stop the ball and it exploded when it touched the hand. Mia looked at the giant as it began to change, on each side of the giant appeared three stands, falling from the sky were some kinds of rockets, they connected to the stands and became pillars. Alexander's body changed into the holding piece with a stand. Mia smiled and got on the new fortress. "Alright, Calvary, come and get it!"

 

OOC: Not to pick on Aerith G. but from now on, when you fight your Eidolons, make it put up more of a fight than what happened with Alexander. It's just not realistic >>

"Glad you think so," Leo grinned as he shot a Ruin from his left hand to the lasers aimed at Lightning. He ran forward, past her, dove, spun, and slashed the nearest soldier. Another laser grazed his arm, causing him to grind his teeth. "You know," he said as he outstretched his arms and vibrated Heretic, "Maybe we need to find a way out of here?" He Blitzed the nearest group of soldiers. "Hey, she has Alexander..." he realized, recognized Hope's Eidolons from the history books. "That gives me an idea!" He yelled excitedly as he ran backwards, running towards Mia. "Come on, Lightning!"

Cid laughed as Argent beat him. The flurry of punches did hurt, he had to admit, but he couldn't help it. "You're so fun, Mr. Calvary. Maybe we should have made you into a l'Cie! Cocoon would be destroyed a lot faster with you!" He took on the hits, not countering just yet.

 

Lightning dashed after Leo, she felt herself growning sentimental over seeing Hope's Eidolin and wished she could've seen the boy grow into a man. "I hope you have a plan here." She could've laughed at how nice it felt to be able to simply follow someone else. Though she liked leading, Leo was growing into a fine "Hero" as Snow would've called him.

Akira stood dumbstruck and shocked by Grey's words.

Jaden looked at Alexander with keen eyes.
"It's raining Eidolons!" he shouted as he knocked out another Cavalry Soldier and then used blitz as well on the rest surrounding him.
"I want one too!" he yelled to the heavens. It sounding like he was almost demanding the chance for one.
"Booya!"
His ears perked up when he heard Leo had some sort of idea.
"Well then! Let's do it!" he called out running after Leo, he knew to trust his friend completely.

 

Omega got up with his back towards Linegia and wiped the dirt and dust off of his shirt. "I would laugh so hard if you guys do take Cocoon out of the sky and nothing happens due to a lack of souls. Wouldn't you? Of course, your eyes would turn to Gran Pulse after that. Then I'd have no choice but to intervene, unlike the situation now." He looked around the area. This place is done for. I really might have to sink this place in the Void. Speaking of which, did I ever close- Off to the side was the still open portal to the Void he came out from. No. No I did not. It faded back to nothing with a snap of his fingers. With the Void on his mind and Linegia intent on killing him, all of his past defeats came back to him vividly. Then suddenly, Omega attacked her with a flurry of roundhouse kicks, ending with a heel drop.

Leo ran towards Akira first, grabbing her by the wrist. "Forget Grey. He won't change his mind, trust me." He looked back towards Lightning and smiled. He continued to run towards Mia, pulling Akira by the wrist. "Mia! Get on top of Alexander!" He had a plan and it involved Alexander's Gestalt mode. "All l'Cie! To Alexander!! And change to Ravager!" He yelled as he shifted to Sentinel.

Cid smiled. "I'll hold you to it," he said in a low voice as his body started to crystallize. "But Leo said all l'Cie and that includes me!" He shot a small Blizzard at Argent and shifted to his Battle Mode, wings and all. "Until next time, Brigadier General!" He yelled as he turned and started to fly after Lightning and Leo.
