Final Fantasy XIII: Slaves of Fate

"Leave. Or I make you leave. I have no time for this," Omega threatened. If nothing he could do work, the last resort was to purge the entire village and everyone in it to the Rift just like the Phantom Village of another world. There it will be preserved in time, immune to both destruction and restoration. He's never had to do it in the past nor did he ever want to, as once it's done there's no way of returning it back to the world, but he was always willing to do it if it was absolutely necessary.

Prisons. Shin's had enough of them ever since his recent release from the chamber underneath Taejin's Tower. He's gone through the ultimate prison, the Void, and broke out after a millennium of confinement. Sure that was back when he was the Divine Dragon, but this airship should be a piece of cake compared to that place. But for now, he'll play it cool.

 

Mia and Angel looked at the Palamecia. Angel noticed Mia sacredly take a few steps backward as she stared at the ship, and gasping lightly. She put her hand on Snow's bandanna and sighed. She shook her head and looked at Angel, smiling.

Alice turned around and saw Linerga and Omega. "And who says we will leave willingly? Hmmmmmm."

 

Lightning broke from her trance at seeing the Guardian Corps again and lucky for her, their new commander didn't recognize the l'Cie from 500 years ago. She walked as casually as she could and glanced barely up at the ship. She'd broken Sazh and Vanille out of that ship before, she could do it again. "I thought we had til you counted to ten to answer your questions. It seems to me you still have a lot of unanswered questions. Commander." Lightning formally saluted the Commander like she'd done all those years ago with her superior in the Guardian Corps. Her icy eyes never moved away from his as she now was of (though not deduced by him) higher status than Argent. "The two women who spoke to you who seemed...different to you...are not simply l'Cie. They're Crystal l'Cie from what I've seen. You, Commander Argent, have been fooled by the oldest trick in the book." She eyed him up and down and tilted her head, "You're also as greedy as Cid Raines was. If anything, I think Cocoon's protectors should go back to Cocoon and let l'Cie handle protecting Pulse. You've never cared for Pulse and despite what you believe, the Cavelry....Cocoon....couldn't care less about Pulse's welfare. l'Cie are not Cocoon's enemies anymore. We are it's saviors." She didn't feel like making her speech any longer by adding who she was but kept a firm hand on her gunblade.

Akira noticed Lightning move to stand somewhat beside Ryou and dimly thought, That should make him happy, having Light stand next to him. she couldn't figure out why she'd thought that. Shaking her head, Akira stared up at the ship going to take them prisoner and listened to Light. "We aren't going anywhere. We're staying right here and fixing Oerba." she growled low under her breath.

 

Ryou felt Light's presence and heard her words, it was surely a comfort and made him feel more at ease than before. "It's true, we have powers that we never wished for and a fate forced upon us that we never wanted, but us I'Cie aren't slaves to fate or whatever you want to call it, we make our own choices and right now, we want to protect Pulse as much as you and your army want to protect Cocoon, none of us have any reason to attack your home just as you don't have any reason to attack us." Ryou continued.

"But of course, all of us have the right to defend ourselves if either side attacks, but the question is, will you allow us to protect we hold dear to us or will you provoke a peaceful time and turn it into a feud? In the end, it's your call Commander." He finished.

Leo ducked, avoiding a swipe from Fenrir's claw. "The cliff? How am I supposed to-Ah!" Fenrir wasn't done with him as another claw slammed into Leo, sending him rolling. "You freakin' mutt," he grumbled as he stood up just as Belias sent a glowing reddish-orange ball of energy at him. "Steelguard!" He yelled it as he braced himself, crossing his arms in front of his torso with the flat side of his Gunblade over them. Belias' Pyroburst exploded on contact and Leo found himself flying backwards and his body slammed against the cliff. "That...really hurt," he muttered as he fell to his knees. That might have actually killed me if I wasn't in Sentinel right now. He thought as Fenrir charged at him. He quickly stood up and blocked Fenrir's swipe with his Gunblade, knowing it was futile. But he successfully blocked it. "Huh?" He was confused for a moment, until he realized being hurt had activated both Deathward and Bonecrusher, boosting his defense and strength. "Well, alright, then," he grinned, feeling refreshed. He dove to the side, just as Belias' Painflare sent a helix-shaped energy blast at him. Leo slashed at it, blocking it and causing another explosion, this one sending him away from the cliff. "Ouch," he muttered as he looked at Grey. "Close enough to the cliff for you?" He asked, his body still hurting.

Cid spun around, slashing his left scythe with the full force of his arm. A blade of energy shot at superspeed and collided with Omega's slash. While nowhere near as strong as Omega's Ultima attack, it did cause the attack to go off early, causing a massive explosion in front of Dahaka. Cid watch the fal'Cie roar in pain and pull its true head underneath, showing its doll-like face again as its tail appeared to grow to its default length. "Damn it, Omega, last straw!" Cid said as he turned to his former ally. "Dahaka, get out of here. Jenova will fix you up," he told the fal'Cie behind him as he readied himself. As the fal'Cie departed into the clouds, Cid raised his hand to the sky. "I hate this attack," he told Omega as small meteors started to shower down around Omega, Cid, and Linegia. All three Crystal l'Cie were stronger than the others so the attack wasn't meant to harm any of them, just to give Cid cover. "Did your Weapon self tell you about my Doomsday attack!?" He asked as he thrust his palms forward. A torrent of ice poured out from each palm at Omega, meant to freeze him. "Lin! Keep this ******* busy! I'll be back," he said as he flew in the opposite direction of Dahaka, who was now gone.

Jenny danced around Palumpolum until she found herself in the courtyard of a mansion. "Oh, the former Estheim residence," she mused as walked inside. While Hope nor his father (and of course his mother) hadn't lived there for centuries, the house was rebuilt as a mansion where Palumpolum's highest class family lived. Jenny danced to the door and stopped, smiling. She then knocked and waited for somebody to answer.















"Sir!" A young soldier yelled as he ran towards Argent, stepping around all flames. "I've been looking for you!" Beneath his helmet, his eyes darted around, studying the l'Cie. The soldier's uniform was covered in dirt, ashes, and seemed to have suffered a lot of damage. "I tried calling, but...I was in the wing when the Lindblum got hit and my comm-link was damaged." He said as he saluted. "There's...something I think you should see. It has to do with," he stopped, lowered his voice and leaned in, "the Crystal l'Cie and Miss Farron."

Linegia floated up to Omega's level, sprouting two wings seemingly from her gothic dress as she did so. "Tell me... can a Weapon feel fear?
I too, as you know, am a weapon developed by Cocoon.
We might both be different, but none the less..." she looked away from him.
"Our purposes are to destroy, and to be used.
My fate however... was changed.
Your's if you keep this up. Well... your fate will end, and it seems I am the one to end it."
She looked at him again, her face blank and expressionless as usual, her face like that of a doll's almost.
She was completely unphased even by his earlier attack.
"Don't think of running after Cid either.
You won't get the chance, and you'll most certainly die if you don't take things with me seriously.
Despite my appearance. I'm sure you've realised by now that me being unharmed by your earlier attack was no accident."

 

Mya smiled and leaned back on a broken wooden beam. There won't be a ship left if you try to contain us. Besides, you wouldn't shoot us if you could, would you? I mean, in my opinion, I would execute powerful people privatly just to not harm my reputation am I right commander? It is L'Cie that saved Coocon correct? So you would have to kill us privatly and sweep up all the evidence. Unless you have a different motive...

 

"[Anti-Air] Wave Cannon: 5% Power."

Numerous lasers of white light burst from the ground to vaporize all incoming meteors coming his way. That did not stop Cid's ice to completely encase Omega, though. While frozen his brand glowed a bright red and looked watery, as if it was about to melt right off his face at any moment. This body was just another form of Omega Weapon and it hadn't been broken down yet unlike the others. All he needed to was the right trigger and that trigger was to "die". This was his perfect chance.

Shin walked over to Lightning with a slight limp. He didn't really know what was going on, but he didn't care. This place burned down once before and was rebuilt. What would make this time any different? Unless, of course, Omega decided that this place was beyond saving and threw it into the Void. Then it couldn't be rebuilt.

 

OOC: Graxe, you completely ignored Bushy-Brow-1992's post as Linegia. Also, don't go too overboard with Omega's strength again. It's one thing for him to be a powerful Weapon, but in Omega's form, either Cid or Lin should be a match for him. Also, you can't have him turn into Omega Weapon too often; he's yet to even fight an Eidolon or even have a reason to use his last resort move.

Leo grimaced at Grey as he watched the rocks fall on Belias and Fenrir. "Guess that worked," He muttered to himself. He couldn't bring Grey down himself, what chance did he stand against an Eidolon? Probably none. And yet...I lived through two Eidolons, he thought, wondering how. Moments ago, he couldn't even move but he found his resolve..."Protecting Grey..." he grinned as he thought of Snow. "I guess I have to be just like the hero himself. I'll do it, Snow," he said aloud, not caring if Grey could hear. The sounds of rocks moving caused him to look up. "I swear I'll do it," he said as he readied himself, shifting to Commando. Belias' staff soon popped up from under the rubble and twirled it, causing rocks to spread apart. "You're not here anymore," Leo said as Belias came out from the rubble. The Eidolon twirled its staff, but Leo knew he was wearing it down. Behind Belias, Fenrir came out, this time his eyes were on Grey; Leo's Challenge had worn off. As Belias started running towards Leo, Heretic became encased in rock; Stonestrike. As Belias reached Leo, it swiped and Leo ducked. "I'll do it for you, then, Snow," he said as he turned around and slammed his sword into Belias' ribs. The Eidolon swiped down and Leo dodged to the side. "I'll protect everyone for you, Snow! Even Cocoon! Leave it up to me! I'll protect EVERYONE!" He yelled as he thrust his blade into Belias.

The Calvary soldier nervously looked at Lightning and then back at his commander. "Brigadier General Aeterna, sir, umm," the soldier coughed and then looked at his Commander's chest, avoiding his eyes. "That young girl you found in Eden has disappeared, sir, but she left her camera. One of the officers there is wiring the photographs to the Palamecia as we speak and, um...there's more pictures of Miss Farron and the others using magic and burning down Oerba. Not just that, but...there's, I think he's your brother, sir? He's one, too. Not just that, but, well, you see...our officers at Eden shot down a monster. No one could recognize or where it came from, sir, but...there's rumors that it was a Cieth, you know, from the stories?" Before the nervous soldier could say anything else, a voice interrupted him.

"Miss me?" Cid's voice rang through Oerba as appeared near Lightning, having removed all traces of his Crystalline form. Even his weapons, his trusty Chain Scythes, were gone, having been sent somewhere else. Before anybody could say anything, Cid looked up and saw Argent. Within an instant, he recognized him as he had been watching the l'Cie for months under Jenova's orders. Within another instant, Cid had a plan fully evolved in his mind. "It's a good thing I'm blonde," he said to Lightning as he ran forward before she could react. He threw his fist in the air and his knuckles connected with Argent's face with a remarkable amount of strength. "You leave Argent to me, Light!" He yelled, grinning. "The hero'll take care of them!" As he said it, he flew at Argent, grabbed him, and threw him farther from Lightning's group as the Calvary soldier ran. Alice, Cid thought, knowing she'd be able to read his thoughts. Do everything in your power to stop Lightning and the others from coming near me and Argent..

 

Lightning jerked when she heard Cid's voice. "You...!" Her hand instinctively went to her gunblade and by now her anger was making her long to punch someone. Switching to Commando Lightning let a Ruinaga flourish in her hand. Cid had used Snow's line and that stung. "Shut up!" icy eyes blazing she threw the Ruinaga at Cid and Argent and followed her spell with a sharp gunblade.

Akira didn't know where Light suddenly gained such a strong spell like Ruinaga but she followed Light. "Ryou c'mon!" she glanced momentarily behind her at Ryou and hurtled toward Cid and Argent.

 

Mya gasped in surprise when Cid suddenly punched Argent in the face and across Oerba. What the hell? She pulled out her gunblade and ran after them.

 

A very short amount of time had passed and Omega's brand cooled off, returning to normal. He soon broke out of his ice prison. "Fear? Fear is just one of the many things the Void exploits to get inside your mind, corrupting it. I was not made to fear anything nor could I even have the luxury to fear because of the Void. Whether your lack of emotion is a way for you to cope with whatever you had to deal with, it is meaningless. Absolute apathy is just another thing the Void can and will exploit. A weakness one might call it." The blood flowing in his body instantly grew cold, becoming liquid crystal. The moment this happened, something about his attitude changed slightly. He carefreely glided behind her to whisper in her ear. "Such a shame, though, that you had to be based on a human subject. All of that effort put into that one, single project and for what? You? This sorry toy of a weapon? They would've gotten better results from using a stray dog." While he was speaking to her, Omega plucked a loose strand of her hair and ate it.

 

Jaden watched as Cid punched Argent and sent him flying as the others gave chase.
"Heh... Now I'm pissed, not only do I not like that dumbass Crystal L'cie, but he just did what I wanted to do and gave us the blame for it!" he yelled as he pulled out Heaven and Hell and took off running after them.
"If we're gonna get the blame for it anyway, it might as well been me!"
Damn it... the bastard impersonated Snow too...

Linegia didn't move once as he moved behind her, not even when he plucked out a strand of her hair.
"Well... we'll see who a sorry toy of a weapon truly is won't we?" she said to him.
"I suppose you are right though... fear is irrelevant as is apathy.
I'll tell you this though.
There is a reason Cid and Jenova trust me.
Sure, Cid could have asked any of the other Crystal L'cie to face you now.
...But, there is also a reason why I have been chosen."
She still didn't turn to face him, even now.
"Of course though, you brag about how I am seemingly a failure of a weapon. A stray dog would have been better?
Well, what about you?

Tell me, my dear Omega. How did it feel as you finally transformed into your weapon state in that world and killed your own wife only to become the next embodiment of Sin, and after that only to exile yourself in some ruins as a mindless beast?" a small smirk, only small, appeared on her face.
"and you call me a sorry excuse for a weapon.
Well as I said, we shall see...
and you shall see why Cid and our Master trust me so, especially with the task of defeating you."

 

Ryou ran alongside Lighting adn Akira, switching into Ravager immediately as he focused his magic and let it loose at Cid but th was surprised that Light's Ruinga just... dissolved as if it was never there. "What? He took Lighting's attack like ti was nothing ot even yet, why he defending that guy who hit him?" he thought to himself.

 

Omega chuckled at Linegia's attempt to pin something on him. "If you're going to use something against me double-check your information next time, would you? I was the heretic monk, Omega, who was exiled off the mainland as punishment for rebelling against Yevon. My hatred against Yevon grew so great that I not only obtained a new form for myself, but one for her as well. And defeat me you must. Realize that it's only going to be in my favor if you do, so make your choice wisely. You do have a will, don't you?" His eyes changed color to an icy blue. Scan lines started to run across them, though it did not obscure his vision.

Sample detected. Beginning analysis...

While that was going on inside him, Omega slowly distanced himself from her and took in the view of the burning village. "But if you still want to play, child..." Both Masamune and Blood Sword began to resonate with dark magic. A single strike is all that would be needed to get banished from this dimension. "Then let us play."

 

"Hello, everyone!" Alice appeared, shooting a arrow at Ryou. "Sorry to interrupt, but I can't allow you all to get in-between Cid and Argent's fight. So, I'll fight you instead! The Mad Hatter and the March Hare will be so glad to have too many guests for tea!!!!" Alice had a wild smile on her face.

Mia knocked the arrow away, "Sorry, Alice. But no one here is going to have tea or whatever. We're trying to stop you, then stop Cid!"

"Very well, the, Mia." Alice sighed and looked at Lighting. "Oh, you must be Lighting. I have a special invitation from the Mad Hatter for you to come!" She shot a arrow at Lighting.

"I got the story wrong, so what? Shows how little interest your failures were to me Omega."
She still didn't turn to face him even now, but she spoke as if she could tell what was going on.
"Try scanning me from that hair sample if you must.
All you will learn is that in my body, I carry a lethal poison. Of course, you being a Weapon are probably immune. But you will not learn anything else about me."
She finally spun around slowly, talking as she did so.
"And if you're planning on banishing the village or myself from this dimension. You should think again.
I can tell you now, that for our Master's plot purposes, will not work in the slightest."
A huge sword, much bigger than her... made from black crystal with white highlights on it appeared from thin air with a few black sparks.
It would take most normal people two hands to wield such a thing, but Linegia held it with one.
She held it loosely at her side, not even taking a defensive position.
"But yes. Let's.
You see, I do have a will Omega, but my will wants me to follow my Master's orders.
And with that.
Let the games begin."

As she was a long range target, he struck first by attacking with an upgraded form of Baptism in Ruin, firing off multiple Ruinga spells in quick succession and ending with a Ruinja that detonated into five Ruin spells. After that he teleported directly behind her with Reverse Polarity and swung his blades all around him in a fashion similar to this world's Zantetsuken.

Shinryu, ignoring the pain, pole vaulted high into the air towards Alice. Sure, she was a l'Cie. But being an archer, could she fight in close combat? As he was nearing the ground he held his lance over his head to slam it down on her skull.
