Final Fantasy XIII: Slaves of Fate

On a normal day, Ren would have been shocked by the Dragon-like creature grabbing him, but after meeting a half-crystal man and being branded he just wasn't suprised by any of it anymore. He didn't struggle, allowing the Wyvern Knight to take him wherever it deemed appropriate.

Byron stood watching Dahaka bringing one of the new L'Cie to the ground from a distance, choosing to study him and the others rather than interfere with Cid and Omega's fight. He hadn't been given as much information about what was expected of them as Cid was, but there'd be time to ask about that later.
Just what do these kid L'Cie think they're going to do about their foci, I wonder? he mused.

 

"Not fleeing like last time, Mr. Orlandu? Do you believe that you are ready to face me now?"

Omega Weapon sensed Cid's magic, but compared to what was going on below it was weak and not worth looking into. He violently whipped its tail in Cid's direction while continuing down, sending forth a blast of wind strong enough to stall a small airship. When Blizzard hit, which barely left a mark, he countered with Atomic Ray. The blue spikes on his back fired off numerous balls of bright red energy that easily tracked down Cid. Each one fired a single, superheated laser at him before evaporating. Nearing the bottom, he spotted the two fighting l'Cie. His gaze locked onto them, piercing into them even. As with Lightning, Shinryu, and Cid, his voiceless words poured into minds of the two.

"Pitiful l'Cie, mindlessly wandering and wasting what little strength you have on each other. And yet you do not know the true potential you hold."

The creature jumped off the side of the cliff and over the l'Cie, landing near them.

"Entreat with the soulless Omega Weapon, who decides if your power is fit for this world, and become one with life's circle here again.

 

Noah woke from a deep sleep omly to find himself surrounded by a curtain of pitch blackness, he felt slightly groggy but shook it off, where was he? He put a hand to his head and didnt feel the wet texture of blood streaming down his face, the rest of the pain in his body had also subsided. He chuckled to himself when suddenly the memories came rushing back.

Noah called out to the emptiness around him, panic setting in, "JENNY? CID?! LIGHTNING?!?! Anyone.....?" Noone would answer his cry, somehow he knew that. It felt as though he was sitting on stone, noah began knocking the ground "Hello? Hellllooo? Please let me out......whatever you are." The stone muffled all outside noise but Noah could hear the very faint voices.

"Well I guess I'm not alone.....kinda" a calm came over him and he sat indian style and remained quiet as if in meditation.

 

Shinryu went over to the cliff edge to retrieve his lance since it was only a couple feet down. After getting it back he returned to Lightning's side, trying to wake her up. It would've helped if he had some items with him but he didn't. Magic was completely out of the question seeing as he's human. He could always take her to the others for that, but he didn't know how far ahead they were. If they were too far, he'd give in to his wounds and exhaustion. When...something...flew passed them, seemingly after Omega Weapon, he could tell something was going down. Getting himself and Lightning out of any crossfire was first priority.

 

Akira whimpered as she lingered a moment longer, keeping herself with the others and yet always looking for Light. Light...we can't lose you too. Without Snow and you, we're lost.

Lightning's dream consisted of Hope. The day she'd given him her knife so he'd get stronger. And how he had grown stronger. He impressed her and now she missed the young boy. How much she longed to see him again. Though not as a l'Cie again. Never a l'Cie. "Hope...." she mumbled from her nearly unconcious state. She had a tight reign on her powers and thus they would not heal her even as she was unconcious. Too bad... Light would've enjoyed getting up and beating the living daylights outta her newly l'Cie apprentices. They hadn't run when she told them to and just the memory boiled her over rational blood. She'd have to make them train extra hard to make up for the blood shed from herself and them when they hadn't done as she asked. Snow wouldn't appreciate soft apprentices either. (Even though he was a big softie most of the time)

 

Hope. What they needed right now was hope. Shinryu carried Lightning on his back and slowly trekked towards the others, hoping that at least one of the apprentices will find them. Her size and weight compared to his placed a higher strain on him, but he'd do whatever it takes to survive. He more or less was re-raised in the wilderness of Gran Pulse anyway. The will to survive was something he was very close with.

The one thing Leo was not expecting was a simple backhand. Both offended at the insult of the attack and satisfied that his Steelguard reduced the damage of the slap, Leo spun to the side and raised his Gunblade in a Riku-esque style. Damn it, Not a lot of options in Sentinel. Leo grimaced as he regretted his choice of Role. How did Snow do it? There was almost no offensive power as a Sent-"What in Etro's name?!" He yelled as the large beast landed in front of him and Grey. Any feeling of determination Leo had in him was gone and replaced with fear.

"Try again, Omega," Cid said as he flashed between Omega and the l'Cie. His Crystalline body was steaming and cracked all over the surface, evidence of Omega's attack. However, as the steam faded, the cracks healed. Cid stood patiently between Omega Weapon and Leo and Grey as his wings retreated into his back and his claw shrank into a hand, but his body remained cyrstallised. "We need to have a talk, Omega," he growled as he grabbed his Chain Scythe, one in each hand. The blades began to glow as he infused them with energy. "But without interruptions...Aeroga," he let go of his right scythe and twirled his left one as he said the last word. His right scythe spun over his head before he turned around and slashed it. A large gust of wind erupted from it, large enough to affect him, Leo, Grey, and Omega, but only the two boys would be weak enough to get blown away...and they were. Cid smiled as the two were thrown over the edge of the cliff, even lower than they were before. "And now for you, Omega," he told his 'ally,' as he spun around and met eyes with the beast. "What's your game?"

In downtown Eden, a wide building in the shape of a circle stood erect. There were several double doors set several yards apart around the building. The doors opened to reveal a flash of green light, evidence that someone just used the Eden Elevator. Normally, several people would pour in and out of the Elevator, traveling between Pulse and Eden, but the fear of Crystal l'Cie and the fact that it was late at the night left the elevator empty...save for one passenger. An auburn-haired girl with brown eyes stumbled out. A brown jacket on her back and a camera hanging from a strap around her neck, the girl fell forward. Her body was covered wounds and she was breathing heavily. A single word escaped her mouth as she lost consciousness. "..help..."

"The Omega you know is locked away. Deep within the rifts of the dreamworld, he wanders and whispers into the ears of the other dreamers there. Perhaps to Mr. Villiers. Perhaps even to them..."

Omega Weapon began focusing energy, granting him Shell, Protect, and Haste. Still eying Cid, the beast circled around him. It was as if the Weapon was throughly examining the l'Cie.

"In order to survive, all living things in this world fight desperately and devour those they defeat. The wounded in turn wound and torment those weaker than they themselves are. There are only the killers and the killed. The sinners who are judged, and the victims that do the judging."

He stopped directly in front of Cid, jaws only a few feet from the man's head. Scentless green mist was floating out from it with each exhale.

"I am Omega Weapon, destruction made manifest. I decide whether or not your power is worthy for this world. Come forth, Cid Orlandu. Show me the hidden potential your brand has unlocked for you."

 

Mia left, never the type to wait. She was fighting against some monsters who thought of her as a treat. So busy fighting, she didn't notice a slightly older woman who wielded some kind of rod and joined her. Mia didn't care and continued her attack, the woman smiled and fought with her. If anyone saw them fighting together, one would say they were the new versions of Oerba Yun Fang and Oerba Dia Vanille. In fact, a young girl was watching them and smiled as she watched Mia. Once the fight ended, Mia took notice of a small feather floating down.

"That was quite the show, Oerba Lea Mia." Alice smiled as she landed in front of them. Noticing Mia's silence and her tightening the grip on her weapon, Alice smiled and continued, "Hey, I like that bandanna on your arm. May I please see it?" Immediately, Mia backed off, defending the woman who fought with her. Alice pouted, "You don't trust me? I only want to play with you. That's all." She smiled as Mia's eyes narrowed as she took out a elegant bow.

What the hell is going on?! Leo thought as he flew through the air. It wasn't long before he was rolling down the cliff again. In the same mindset as Grey, he used his blade to slow down his fall. Remembering his role, he Steelguarded at the last instant before hitting the ground. "That could have been worse..." he thought as he got up. He looked at Grey and all thought of Omega Weapon left his mind once again. "You!" He yelled it as he leaped forward, tackling his former ally. "What about the reason you joined Lightning and Snow? Now you're just going to join the other side? What would your brother think?!"

"Omega Weapon, huh? Duly noted," Cid muttered as he readied his blade. His body shivered as he cast Bravery, Faith, and Haste on himself to counteract Omega's buffs. Heh, I didn't know I could synergize before, he thought as his left scythe became encased in ice and his right one in water. "Challenge accepted then!" He yelled, grinning as he slashed Omega with Froststrike before flashing over to the Weapon's ribs and slashing with Aquastrike. The plan? Start small, test Omega "Weapon" out, and work his way up to test his own new powers.

The girl whimpered in her sleep and turned. "Crys-see. Cocoo...Oerba..."


Dahaka let out a weird noise. It was a mixture of a growl and a bell chime. It slowly opened its hands to reveal a healed Noah inside. Then, in an instant, it spread its hands open, letting Noah fall several feet to the ground. It repeated his noise and flew over the edge, whipping its tail to send a gust of wind at the l'Cie. It then scoured the sides of the cliff for Shinryu and Lightning.


The Wyvern Knight continued to fly towards the l'Cie, Ren in its talons. However, it flew past them with a roar and dropped him off near Mia and the two new girls. Its scales then began to shine as its body crystallized in mid-air. Each scale that crystallized then faded into nothingness until the entire beast was gone.

Noah felt the very ground he sat on start to rumble and spread beneath him, he quickly jumped up startled as light poured in, shielding his eyes from the intense brightness. He was unprepared for what happened next, his ride ditched him several feet above the ground and he plummeted down "Whoa! Hey, what's the big idea?!" he tucked and rolled at the last second as he made contact with the ground. Noah stood up quickly dusting himself off and taking in his new surroundings.

The giant beast who was circling the tower before seemed to have been his savior, he looked up chuckling "Hey! Thank you!" he then turned his sights on the other familiar faces that were all around him, but many were missing. 2 people whom he thought were allies were fighting each other away from the group, Lightning was nowhere in sight, and the guy from before he nearly killed him was far from a "guy" anymore, he spotted Jaden, the mouthy and high spirited one and approached him "Did you see that?" he said pointing to the airborn Dahaka "What did I miss? I still have no idea who we are fighting, everyone should just really pick a side! A little direction would be appreciated......." the words flowed out very frustrated and intense but also still with that same old confusion, Noah readied himself for battle regardless, hoping for some response to his rant.

Leo was launched into the air by the ruin. "Agh-!" He hit the ground on all fours a few yards in front of Grey. His free hand instantly went to his stomach as he started to cough up blood. "You..are..agh...worse...worse than the Crystal l'Cie!" He yelled it as he raised his blade and stood up, ignoring the blade. "I swear to Etro herself, Grey, I will cut you down, you good for nothing bastard!" He dashed forward, but low to the ground as he switched to Commando. "I will bury you right here and now!" He unleashed his Blitz, spinning his Gunblade as it vibrated in a circle. As low to the ground he was, he would slash Grey's legs if it made contact. Behind all of the rage in his eyes, there was a single thought: Defeat Grey.

The girl quickly woke up and hysterically grabbed Argent's shoulders. "No! The l'Cie! There's on their way here! A whole army of them! Lightning, from the story, she's one of them!! They're going to destroy Cocoon!!!" And with that, her body fell limp and her eyes closed, but she continued to breathe.

Jaden scratched his head in response to the boy's questions. "Beats me... but for the record. Big ugly guy over there equals bad news.
Crystal L'cie equals bad news. We equals good news." he shrugged.
He then called out in the confusion. "I just wanna know what the hell we are doing now?!" he called out to anyone who would listen.
He may have been the type of guy to go around a little aimlessly and without actually always using a plan under most normal circumstances, but with everyone suddenly doing their own thing as it seemed, a little bit of direction would be a good thing for once.
Suddenly something flew overhead and dropped a new guy off near Mia and... two new girls...
What's with all the new faces suddenly?! he shouted in his own mind.
Although... the girls are pretty cute... he smirked. No Jaden... damage control here! Focus for once! You can flirt later...
although... it couldn't hurt to just now.. a litt- NOOO! Later! he argued in his own mind.
In the end he ran towards the new people. That many new guys near Mia might not be a good thing since nobody really new a thing about them... they could be enemies... and Mia could be in trouble.
At least... it seemed like a confrontation was about to happen of some kind.
It was only then he realised he had just left the boy behind...

Linegia stood next to Byron, it was a rather odd sight to see these two figures on the hill, a male appearing to be in his early twenties while the other appearing to be an 8 year old girl... completely different from each other in atmosphere and aura. They probably shared nothing but one thing in common.
Yes... that they were both Crystal L'cie and both very powerful. It was unknown as to why they were even together in this spot right now. Perhaps it was a coincidence that they had both decided to observe the previous events in close vicinity to each other. Regardless, Linegia just seemed to ignore the one next to her and didn't care if he did the same.

She didn't care much for the new L'cie either at the moment. Instead, opposite to what Byron next to her was doing, she instead observed the fight between Cidolfu and Omega Weapon. Cid's grown stronger... she observed, watching him move with more power and speed than she had seen him before. There is no need for my interference. Omega is powerful in that form... but there is more to Cid than that weapon seems to be aware. The wind picked up and blew her hair in the opposite direction she was facing. With a single motion with her hand, she brushed some of her hair aside as her cold black eyes continued to observe the match between a legendary weapon and Crystal L'cie.
She would wait for the moment... she would have her own part to play in events, but that wasn't now.
Her eyes briefly wondered over to Cocoon up in the sky supported by a crystal like structure that were the two L'cie of legend.
She could tell that her master was already making her move. Soon... Cocoon would meet it's end. The pages were turning and the gears were in motion, and the tools... well...
they would be guided to their destinies soon enough.
She folded her arms and changed her glance back to the fight again, watching as Cid seemed to be 'testing' Omega Weapon out.

 

Cid's attacks scratched the surface but, with Protect in place, left no visible mark. Omega Weapon struck back at Cid with two fast claw swipes and using his massive tail as a whip. He followed that up by leaping back and slamming a "hand" into the ground, casting Quake. The weapon had his suspicions. If Cid wasn't going to go all out, why should he not do the same? But if the situation ever changes, he will be ready.

In a completely white world where dreams are weaved and played out, the dormant mind of Omega was awake here and wanders in search of someone. After what seemed to be endless hours of walking in a straight line, seeing and passing by countless dreamers who drifted here in sleep, he came across Snow suspended in the air. Omega approached him and whispered into his ear briefly before continuing on. "If you ever wake, Snow, go to the Sea of Eden, located on the other side of Gran Pulse. It's a place where one can witness this planet's future with their own eyes."

Something about the air was different. A fal'Cie had to have been nearby and it wasn't Bismarck. As tiring as it was to carry Lightning around on his back, Shinryu had to keep moving forward. They can't be caught by some fal'Cie now, not when their only way out was directly in their face.

OOC: I think I'm gonna stick with white for Omega from now on. It makes it easier to differentiate him from Omega Weapon than the normal color does (whenever Omega Weapon pops up).

OOC: heartless_angel, you really haven't missed much since your last post. Make sure you read the last few pages of the Datalog/OOC thread though. As for this thread, Omega turned into Omega Weapon and chased Leo and Grey. Cid brought Ren to Jenova who branded Ren and branded Cid again, making him stronger. Cid left Ren to the other l'Cie while he went to stop Omega Weapon. Leo and Grey are still fighting. Jenny appeared into Cocoon, wounded. Mia (not Mya),is fighting monsters when two other girls show up. Jaden is running to them while two Crystal l'Cie watch. Dahaka dropped Noah (who we forgot about) >> with Ryou's group. Shinryu and Lightning are separated from the others and Lightning is unconscious.
@Graxe, I have to highlight all posts anyway because of the skin I use lol but it's fine. I prefer when you separate characters by color.

Leo quickly flipped his Gunblade so the handle was protruding from beneath his pinky and the dull edge was facing down. He spun to Smite Grey, but Grey had already reached the ground. "Ugh!" Leo's smite missed and he stumbled forward past Grey and fell to the ground. He quickly turned around onto his rear and realized his Gunblade had fallen several feet away. His eyes locked on Grey, but his body didn't move. Damn it...I can't even stop Grey! His hands clenched the dirt as he looked past the blade pointing at him. How am I going to stop Crystal l'Cie and a fal'Cie if I can't even stop one normal l'Cie?! His hands trembled as he opened his mouth. "I'm not going to stop, Grey. As long you are branded, I won't stop chasing you," he said it with all of the determination he had, which at the moment wasn't as much as he did a few minutes ago. "Even as a Cieth, I'll find a way to take you out! That's my Focus!" He leaped forward, ignoring his lack of a weapon, and lunged at Grey.



"The heroes never die. Come on. We've got a world to save."

Snow's crystallized body remained still on the apex of the crystallized Taejin's Tower. His well-toned, naked, and glassy body shimmered in the moon and starlight. His face was expressionless as before and his eyes remained close...until a single teardrop descended from the corner of his right eye. His mouth curved downwards slightly before his eyes opened suddenly. The brow of his eyes curved downwards, his skin making a cracking sound with each curve. A look of crystallized determination was on his visage before his eyes flashed. Suddenly, there were no pupils in his eyes. The same determined expression was on his face, but the emptiness of emotion was quickly came back without his eyes.

"Well, that's something else!" Cid said as countered slash both his blades against Omega Weapon's claws, but he had no defense against the tail. The tail sent him backwards and the moment he stood up, he fell victim to Quake. My blades didn't scratch him? Spells must be weak then, he thought as he stood up, showing no sign of pain or fatigue. "Is that all you got? You should change your name to Omega Toy! I thought you were testing my power or something?" He grinned as the tip of his blades started to glow a dark purple. "Let's see how you like my Beso Toxico!" He yelled the last two words as he slashed. One of the scythes flew forward, the chain extending. If it made contact, it would not only hurt Omega Weapon but poison him as well.

The girl kept mumbling, but her words were too difficult to make out. However, the word "l'Cie" was the one she mumbled the most.







Dahaka could sense Omega Weapon and Cid fighting nearby, but it ignored them. It was looking for no Crystal l'Cie. Shinryu was nearby, Dahaka could feel it.​

 

Ren felt the talons of the Wyvern Knight release him, and he fell sharply to the ground. The first thing he heard was someone yelling.

Ren sighed to himself, silently praying that the voice wasn't one of the L'Cie that the Fal'Cie-girl had mentioned. He looked up to check if it was, seeing more people than he expected to. It wasn't just a couple of L'Cie he'd been charged with, but a group. He sighed again; he wasn't used to this level of company.

Byron witnessed the new L'Cie being dropped by the Wyvern Knight, which then faded away. He couldn't tell before, but now he knew that it had been one of Cid's creations.
Guess Cid's gotten more powerful somehow. One more question to ask later.
He then too saw Dahaka drop it's own L'Cie, a young-looking male. Four of the party were missing from his sight however. He had missed what happened to them, and had no idea as to what they even looked like, having only arrived back on Pulse a short while ago. The crystal portions of his body were easily hidden, unlike Cid's crystalised arm, and so he had been observing Coccoon, as detestible as the objective had been. He glanced at Linegia, the Crystal L'Cie next to him. She showed no sign of emotion towards anything, as seemed to be the usual for her.
"Do what you want, but I'm getting a closer look at some of those L'Cie." He didn't care if she responded to him or not, as he jumped down from his spot and headed towards the L'Cie group stealthily.
