Final Fantasy XIII: Slaves of Fate

Mya jumped slightly after seeing Omega take down the Fal'Cie so easily. She started to doubt herself. If something like that could handle an extremely difficult monster, what chance would the group have against it? She then shook the thought out of her head and stayed firm.

 

Noah still scratching his head opened his mouth to speak "I guess it kinda makes sense, But what are you gonna do about him?" Noah gestured to Dahaka above him, just then he saw Omega come flying through slicing at Dahaka's tail and his eyes grew wide, "Whoa....Cool" he smiled.

When Omega landed, Noah's legs trembled slightly as if the man's power shook the ground beneath his feet. The annoyed tone to the man's voice as he spoke of Noah upset him a little bit, "Hey what's that supposed to mean? Who are you anyway?" He directed his next question's at Jenny "Why are so many new people sshowing up? Are these all friends? Cuz if these are friend's I dont want to meet our enemies."

 

"Don't be foolish. No fal'Cie could die from that at even half their strength," Omega told Mya from seeing her reaction. Resting one blade on his shoulder, he walked over to Jenny and Noah and looked down at the newly made l'Cie. "And what I meant by that, boy, was..." he began to say to Noah before directing his attention to Jenny, "...you made another l'Cie? I don't have anything against it, by the way. Just a bit surprised." He chose not to answer Noah's other question and turned to the heroes. She must be planning to get their apprentices as well or at least ones who're here. That's fine by me. "If you're after those other kids, I'll gladly hold off Snow and Lightning. Would that be alright with you?" Omega asked Jenny.

 

Jenny's eyes narrowed upon seeing Omega. Her lack of trust in him was evident, but pointless. Omega couldn't possibly take down Dahaka, but even if he did betray her and did so, he stood no match for her. "Hallowed Pulse herself cannot defeat me, l'Cie," she whispered, speaking low so only Omega could hear. To the others, Omega was on her side, despite the fact that he just attacked Dahaka, but Dahaka losing a tail was irrelevant. It just proved how strong Omega was to the humans. "An army of Lindzei's followers cannot fulfill my plans alone, child," she said, still talking to Omega as her eyes moved to the boy he brought with him, "Etro's messengers have their own role to play. For this, yes, you should keep the weathered-name warriors busy," she ordered, mocking Lightning and Snow. "Dahaka shall be plenty to keep their 'students' busy while I slip into something more comfortable." Before anybody could say anything, Jenny faded into thin air.


Snow stayed in his Sentinel mode, hoping to keep Dahaka's attacks directed at him, but Omega's appearance confused him. "What's going on here?" He asked loudly as his brand started to glow. They had to end this quick. A heart-shaped crystal started to appear from his brand as he raised his arm. He grabbed the crystal with his right hand and crushed it, calling out, "Shiva!" He jumped back as a ball of blue light started to form, accompanied with the sound of water. Two feminine shapes formed and danced around each other as the sisters Shiva, Nix and Styria, appeared. "Show them how's it done!" Snow yelled as he laid eyes on Omega.

"No problem, it was my pleasure," moaned Leo sarcastically as he stood up next to a thankless Mia. He walked forward with a mild limp and picked up his sword. Leo didn't move his eyes from the Crystal l'Cie once and was even surprised that they didn't blast him with anything as he raised his weapon to his shoulders. "What do you want?" He was confused. Crystal l'Cie were monsters and they weren't here to fight? Snow would have thrown punches, asked questions later, but Snow would have stood a chance...

Bring the rest to me, Cid. Cid shivered as Jenny's voice rang in his head. I guess it's time. He reached behind his back and pulled out a small scythe with a metallic handle. "We're here to help you," he told Ryou as he pointed the scythe to him. With his free hand, he reached behind him again and pulled out another scythe and pointed it to Leo. "And you're here to help us," he told him before spinning the scythes and slamming the handles together. "But first, you need to help your friends." He pulled the scythes together and now a chain made of light was holding the scythes together; Cocoon's technology. "Unless you want them to die," he said it calmly as his body started to glow. "Snow and Lightning are about to die. As are your friends, think you can save them?" A now crystallized Cid pointed to the top of the tower with a single scythe as the other dangled. "Want a lift?" He looked at Jaden who had given orders earlier, mistaking him for the leader.

"W-what?... y-yeah, right, as if Snow and Lightning could lose..." he said unsure of himself.
He jumped back a few steps getting away from the crystal l'cie who was now fully transformed.
"Guys? ... what should we do?" he asked the others, keeping his voice low.

 

Ryou thought about it. "It's Light and Snow here, they could handle anything especially with picking their team but..." Ryou thought as he remembered the fight with Omega, Light just stood there as if she was frozen but he didn't blame her since fighting I'Cie were not common and that they had been in crystal statis and may of gotten rusty, his brain was telling himself that she and the others were fine but his heart was saying otherwise,

Besides, Jaden did yell at him to reach Cocoon while they distracted these two but Ryou knew even if he tried that, those two could easily catch him and bring him back so no chance of that happening, but help from the I'Cie, Ryou knew something was fishy but he remembered Light's training and words, they undertaken the training to face moments such as this, if they just gave up now, it'll shame the trust she and Snow gave them.

"Heh, Light's growing on me, then again, I always did like her." Ryou thought with a small smile and spoke. "This is Light and Snow we're talking about, they won't die that easily nor will the others so I'll believe in them to the end!" Ryou said with confidence and he stared at Cid. "So don't try and make us turn around I'Cie, our one and only mission is get to Cocoon which has been entrusted to us by our teacher and if the situation calls for it." Ryou withdrawn his katana, pointing it at Cid. "We'll force you away to move from our destination." Ryou said calmly.

 

Jaden began grinning like his usual foolish self again. "Heh, well said..." He stood next to Ryou and readied his weapon also, pointing it at the enemy in front of him. "We won't quit, we're the heroes of this story after all. The old timers will be fine! We've got something that they trusted us to do and we're gonna do it!"
He raised his other sword so it pointed to towards the sky, and addressed the Crystal l'cie. "I'm going to tell you something important now, so you better dig the wax out of those ears of yours, and listen! Having left our home land, we never yield, never retreat, and never regret. We face forward and never look back. We'll take you on no matter the odds. Just who the hell do you think we are?!"

OOC: I know I went a bit Gurren Lagann here... but I couldn't resist lol, I saw an opportunity and I took it. :P

 

Leo looked around. Part of him agreed with Ryou, but most of him wondered what they could do either way. Could they move two Crystal l'Cie out of their path and make it to Cocoon? If they could just reach Atomos...but what if they did decide to help the others? Could they make it in time? Could they make much of a difference. "Damn it," he muttered quietly as his Gunblade dropped to his side. His fist trembled with uncertainty.


"Think about it, will you?" Cid told Ryou and Jaden as he walked forward. He hung his chain scythe around his neck to free his hands. "Lightning and Snow are fighting...an old enemy. One they defeated with the help of four other l'Cie," Cid reached Ryou and raised a hand to grab the katana's blade calmly. "Now it's two of them and normal kids? There is no doubt they'll win," Cid's eyes met Ryou's as the sunlight made his crystal skin shimmer like Edward Cullens, "But they'll die trying. I told you, boy, we're here to help." Cid knew they had no reason to trust him but every reason not to trust him, but what he said was still true. Lightning and Snow, their chances of living against a reborn Dahaka was slim...when you include Omega in the mix..."You don't have much of a choice. I don't care who the hell you are so stop your hopeless poetics. You have two choices: Go help your so-called friends, or die here and leave them to die," Cid stressed the word 'friends,' implying that Jaden must not have cared about them. "Your deaths won't save Cocoon or anyone else so make the wise choice."

 

"Heh... don't get me wrong, glass boy.
You say it like you're implying I don't care about them... but you're wrong, dead wrong in fact. I spout my 'hopeless poetics' because I believe in them, I believe in my friends." The look on Jaden's face was dead serious for once.
"But here's something you are right about, our deaths won't save Cocoon or anybody... so let me ask you...
Why are you offering to help us save them?" he paused.
"After all... You want to destroy Cocoon... Our deaths should be irrelevant to you, if anything, we're getting in your way, as are Lightning and Snow. So... why do you offer to help us? If anything... you should want us and them dead." he smirked.
"Now... I may act like a goof... but I'm not that much of a dumbass... You want us there on that tower with them... for some reason or another." He stood battle ready.
"So... let me tell you how this is gonna work. You can tell us what is going down... or... we can kick your ass and then you tell us... or you can try and get us there by force... either way. This party is getting old. So YOU think about it, and make the wise choice."

 

Ryou watched Cid grasp his blade and was standing close hut he had to hold back a smile from Jaden's words, the guy may of been too much before but he knew how to get around that part and make it seemed to make the point more across, but an old enemy?

"Old enemy? Four more I'Cie, he must be referring to to their previous comrades...but the only enemy they didn't take alone was..." Ryou drawn the conclusion, Jaden wasn't around for the most of the training as he had left and he only had a few words to say. "the Dahaka." He said aloud, his eyes widening, What Cid said is true, it took all Six I'Cie and the Guardians themselves to eliminate that thing, now it was reduced to those two and four normal humans as he could see Jaden wonder what the hell he was saying.

"A Fal'cie which commanded Taejin's Tower who's strength easily beat six I'Cie's strength but Light and the others had reinforcements, the Guardians of the Tower who took out parts of the Dahaka and left the head piece to the I'Cie to weaken it and help destroy it, but how can that thing be reborn!?" Ryou asked, now he was uncertain, Light said it took almost all their strength, wits and Eidolons to actually make it work, now it was only Light and Snow which is like a third of the usual strength.

 

"So what should we do now?" Mia asked, actually sounding concerned about Lighting and Snow. "Is there something you want to do about it?"

 

" I suggest it's better to chicken out now, you can't replace one's life, you can do so with honor once you leave, grow, and become stronger and make our next meeting more funner. So don't die for something as stupid as honor . . ."
Freyja said as she watched Cid from the corner of her eye as her hands remained folded in front of her chest. She stepped out of the way a bit to show them that they had room to run off. She put her rifle away back in it's holster but she kept her pistol out in her her left hand which rested against her hip.
"Whats with him, going all out for just a bunch of feeble kids, what a show off."

 

When Jenny left, Omega took a short moment to recollect all that he learned of Etro: Her inability to create any fal'Cie or l'Cie, her passing through the Door and becoming the Goddess of Death, her bringing chaos into the world, her connection to the Eidolons, etc. The Eidolons are messengers of Etro. What others could she have there in the world of the dead? Speaking of Eidolons, Snow summoning Shiva caught Omega's attention.

As if reciting from both memory and reflex, he chanted the following during the summoning:
"By the grace of Etro, twin rulers arise from your icy thrones. Come forth, sisters of Winter wastes.
A name in blood, a pact of ice. Shiva shall rise, her bond eternal and unyielding."

He then readied both weapons and gave a cold stare at the sisters. A battle with an Eidolon was but a game to him, but even so he takes it seriously. "A loss is a loss. You can never take it back," he would say. And he has never lost a battle to an Eidolon once. "Make the first move," Omega calmly told them, infusing Ultima into the blade of Masamune and Flare into the other blade.

 

Cid shook his head slowly. "I guess no choice..." he muttered, making a decision. "If the truth must come out now, so be it." His turned his gaze to look at Freyja, "Sorry, Freyja, but I have to do this." He raised his right hand while his left held his weapon. He opened his palm and whispered, "Ruin." A small orb of energy flew from his palm towards Freyja's face.


"This'll be a piece of cake!" Snow yelled as he pointed to Omega. Nix, the white Shiva, moved forward and waved her hand, sending a floating wheel spinning at Omega.

Lightning wasn't sure what had happened for a moment. Snapping back to herself, she realized Snow had summoned his Eidolin, Snow...I hope you know what you're doing. With Dahaka out of the way and Jenny or whoever she was gone, Light wasn't seeing an upside to this trip. She moved behind Snow, "I got your back Snow!" she said, lifting her gunblade to her shoulder and switching to her Ravager mode.

Akira stood, stunned at Snow's Eidolin. Wow...I wonder if we'll ever be able to summon...wait, only a few chosen l'Cie get them. We're not even close to being l'Cie. She kept her gunblade ready, keeping an eye on Light's position.

 

"Hmm... things are heating up... I should hide... but it's getting pretty good, and I don't want to miss this, aw hell." Ryden thought aloud to himself as he backed up as he watched the fight unfold.

 

Freyja waited for the orb to get close enough before and leaned all the way backwards in a flash and allowed the orb to fly past above her and slam into a wall of rock behind her. She didn't seem surprised at all by this sudden show of violence, but the fact that the energy emanating off the orb had been enough that it shattered her sunglasses and their lenseless frames fell to the ground in a bed of shattered glass on the ground below.
" Idiot what were you thinking !!"
She said as her full face was exposed now, it seemed nothing wrong about it except for her eyes, her iris's were a crystalline blue and her pupils pale. Her eyes almost seemed to glow more and more with the growing anger inside of her. She looked straight at Cid but tried not to look towards any of the others, trying not to make any eye contact with them.

 

"What the?!" Jaden exclaimed in shock at the sudden attack between should be allies.
He saw the female crystal L'cie's glasses shatter and fall off her face..

 

Cid dashed at Freyja. Damn, I wasn't trying to uncover her eyes...He thought as he brought his blade down. "Go find Lightning!" Cid yelled to the others. "The whole thing's a trap! Tell her Cid's alive and he sent you," he commanded as he placed himself between Freyja and the others. His body started to glow as he began to swing his chain scythe in preparation for a fight. The glow became so bright that his entire figure was hard to see. The glow then left his body and manifested a Zirnitra behind him. The wyvern-like beast floated calmly in place with l'Cie brands in place of irises in its eyes. "Get on the dragon!" He yelled to children as he made posed himself to attack Freyja. "He'll take you to the top! Now go before the other Crystal l'Cie get here!"
