So i assume Winter 2008. So a European release will probably be Winter 2009, if no delays occur. Makes me glad it's Region free, importing here I come.

 

At least they gave a date this time unlike XII

'Versus'? <.<

Versus has gotten just as many updates when you consider the Dengeki extended trailers and the scans from Famitsu.

 

Yeah, I dont think FFXIII will be coming out anywhere outside Japan this year. If European gamers are lucky, they might get it perhaps during the Christmas Season or halfway through the year of 2009 at some point.

 

Final Fantasy XIII will most likely come out 2009, so will versus, but later.

Finale Fantasy? (Yes - bad pun intended)

It will so never end. There are only a few ways it could:

• Square-Enix goes into financial freefall
• Fanbase dies out
• Video games become illegal
• They just stop making them
• The human race dies out/universe ends/whatever

Now for counterproofs, in respective order:

• Squaresoft did suffer financially. That's where the merger came in, and can do again if necessary.
• What, you seriously think that'll ever happen?
• I doubt it, but even then a black market would doubtless flourish ;)
• And lose their major revenue? Pfft... yeah right.
• Doesn't count, since there will be no-one left to observe the discontinuation!

What MIGHT happen, of course, is that it will gradually change into something new, as a sort of software analogy to evolution.

Anyway, it's the fourth best selling franchise ever, apparently (as of July 2007 anyway). I doubt that'll change anytime soon... except of course if it moves UP the ranking! For a teensy bit more info on this, I direct you to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_series#Reception

Although, I daresay there are a good number of fans... myself included... that get more and more irritated by Japan-only releases (KHIIFM+ comes to mind especially). If they keep it up, some of the fans might start drifting off... though despite this, I still rank them as one of the greatest game companies ever, in my opinion. Their stuff is just too good to not stay with them!

Further to Darkandroid's proof... I admire the spirit, but assuming a fairly constant rate (one numbered instalment every couple of years), that allows about 17 more, so it'd be 30 not 38. You weren't far off though, and maybe technology will improve to allow them to churn them out faster!
