What shocks me is that Nomura designed this character, where's the Zippers and Belts. Anyway the new character also looks more realistic than any of the other characters in XIII.

Agreed. I'm almost proud of him for designing a normal-looking character. :P

Nice.....I bet somewhere along the way the chocobo gets eaten or shows some major power.

Am I the only one who thinks that fans are making a bigger deal out of him that there is? Personally I'm more interest in a character's stats and abilities etc than their skin colour.

Also, mini chocobo for the freakin win D: that definitely earns cool points.

    xD!

I'm pretty sure people are freaking out because everyone was expecting Square to release some faggy bishi pretty boy character next, and by surprise we get this awesome pimpin' guy.

That's why I'm making a big deal about him at least. :D

Square? Faggy bishi pretty boys? Not like they have ever done that before o:

xD I can see your point. I still think that that is more than just skin colour though.

Exactly. Most people (on /v/ at least) are so annoyed because of it, so it was really a pleasant surprise.

That's true, but I think it's more of how he seems pretty masculine, laid back and happy. When was the last time we had a happy black guy in an JRPG? :T

In all honesty though, that just shows how elitist the gaming community is getting, it is like "if you are a true gamer then you will oppose all the pretty boy ******s in games", much the same way that anime fans who think they are hardcore anime fans will criticise those fans that like dubs.

When was the last time we had a happy guy in an JRPG full stop? It is pretty much standard for characters to be shadowed by some dark secret or some cliched traumatic past. Sure he seems masculin, happy and he seems pretty ****awesome and chilled, but still :/ I know that black guys are typically speaking rare in gaming, but I think more about the changes to character such as the fact he looks quite a fun character than the fact that Square have used a different colour skin for a character.

I guess I can understand the fuss, since it is quite a break away from the norm, but I bet Square didn't design him with the wish for him to always be labelled "that one black dude in FXIII" I think there is more to him than that.

Well personally I don't have anything wrong with the pretty boy characters, I actually like them a lot, but it's just nice for them to step away from that and Sazh who come to think of it reminds me of Wakka from FFX now. xD

Is it me or does everyone BUT the main character seem to be pretty happy in games? xD See this is why I like platformer games, the characters are usually happy and cheeky (Like Sly Cooper :D)

Wakka is my favourite FFX character, he was so awesome <3 he was always so happy and :D

I guess its because they have to have a reason for going on their quest or adventure you know, the appeal of mystery and the fact that some random happy go lucky smiley dude isn't likely to run off from home in search of adventure, or take down some organisation just for thrills.

Sly is awesome, also Ratchet :D

That's one reason I loved FFXII. Vaan wasn't a sad person. He just wanted to be a sky pirate and save..um..wherever he was from because I forget. xD

x: we're getting off topic now, aren't we?

So um, do you think Sazh will be a gunslinger type of character? I'm a sucker for gunslingers :D
