It pretty much fixes all of XIII gameplay problems; you're free to explore as much as you want, there's a lot of missions to do, weapons to craft etc etc. The only gripe I had with it was the story and characters were weaker than XIII. I would recommend it but you'd be better if you waited till it came down in price. I happily forked out for the Crystal Edition but that's cause I loved XIII.

Yes there are towns and sidequests, and yes there are only 2 characters and a bunch of pets. You should download the free demo and see all of that yourself.

Was planning on playing it eventually, just wanted some more people's input. Hearing about the story and characters though...jeez, Square just can't get the mix right anymore with Final Fantasy.

Thing is, I played the demo, but it didn't really answer the questions for me. I mean, sure there was kinda a town, but barely what was present in older games. And 2 characters...meh.

I can only recall two places where you're able to enter buildings. In one of the larger areas it feels really great and the lack of enterable buildings is just fine(there's only one) and in Serendipity there's just three places to enter. There's not really any oldschool towns but I felt that it was just fine.

Also, there are plenty of great games that make due with just two characters. The first one to pop into my head is the Prince of Persia series(and Prince of Persia 2008). Though...the characters there were far better and wittier than anything found in XIII and XIII-2. Still! Despite there only being two playable characters(minus Lightning in the intro) other characters do make important appearances. Namely Hope. Hope is the best character in the game. B|

I know there are plenty of games that make use of 2 (or fewer) characters. Thing is: this is Final Fantasy, a series that, since the first game, has been all about building a team of strong allies, same games having as many as 11 playable. I'd be ok with it if the narrative built up these characters enough, or even necessary to have only two, but hearing from everyone, it seems that it doesn't really.

In the end, I'll reserve my full opinion til I can play the game through to the end. Regardless of any discussion though, the game is bloody beautiful. Square always excel in eye-candy.

Finally completed it! ...All is poor Serah.

New World is actually quite good though.

New World is a good song, especially during the ending, until it happens.....soundtrack dissonance, as TVTropes puts it.

I think the Jihl Nabaat DLC has been released today, but I'm not bothered to download it yet. Laziness + DLC overload = one lazy Stella.

I still haven't got Omega or downloaded DLC of Jihl, saw on YT that she is very....summon monster-spastic and very dangerous, even able tot ake out your MC with just her ultimate attack.

Yep, my characters are almost maxed and she'll flat out kill anyone who isn't a Sentinel with Protect on with that move. I've found that the best way to kill her is to just ignore the monsters she summons and go straight for her, and Tortoise when she ult-attacks

Unfortnately someone spoiled the ending for me when I asked them not to, so I dismissed it as a lie until I saw it for myself, then again, I LV99 in every role by the time I defeated Yomi, saving LOng Gui for the last entry in the Bestairy, funnily enough, the rare find monsters just like becoming my allies.

I actually killed Long Gui and Yomi WAY before I got even close to maxing. They're really pretty easy once you have a basic strategy.
